Hidden Names?

Chikorita = Chiko (Legend) + Rita (The ultimate in perfection)
Totodile = Toto (Used to say toilet) + Dile (Quick unwitty reaction)
Cyndaquil = Cynda (Something that is hot) + Quil (Rapid spontaneous outbursts)

I just realised this last night, some pokemon names have hidden names inside their name

ARTICUNO - ARTIC, UNO, Uno means ONE in Spanish
ZAPDOS - ZAP, DOS - Dos means TWO In Spanish
MOLTRES - MOL, TRES - Tres means THREE In Spanish

Any More Like This?

lol I didnt find that out until like 2 months ago. Bulbasaur has bulb like the bulb on its back, and saur DINOSAUR!!!!! ROAR! xDD

Blaziken, blaze and chicken! even though it looks like a rooster lol

Pikachu

Pika means "flash of light" in japanese and "chu" is the sound a mouse makes.
Isn't it the other way around? Chu being the japanese lightning, and pika being a kind of mouse?
lololololdurrr peoples.

Abra and Kadabra?
IF NO ONE REALIZED THAT ONE THEN I WILL SLAP THEM XDDD

I dun get it. XDDD just kidding.

Eevee = Eevee (E-V Short for Evolution)
Vaporeon = Vapor (Humidity of Moisture)
Flareon = Flar (A flame or source of heat)
Jolteon = Jolt (A burst of electricity)
Espeon = Esp (Short for Extrasensory perception which is to with hearing voices of ghosts)
Umbreon = Umb (Untamable majestic beast)
Leafeon = Leaf (A vegetation)
Glaceon = Glac (Short for Galcier which is found on iceberg's)
Eon after each eeveelution means to take a long time which what evolution takes.

Simple one "Ditto" means to copy someone or something.

Example from the movie Ghost:
Sam: I love you molly
Molly: Ditto

Another one is "Arceus" what I think the "Arc" means the Arc of Life and "eus" just put a "Z" before "eus" and you get "Zeus" who is a Greek god and the most powerful one just like "Arceus" who is the God of all Pokémon.

Another one "Porygon" which "Pory" means High Intellegence and "Gon" is the Venezuelan nationals abbreviation of "guevon" which is there way of greeting a friend, so "Porygon" stands for greeting a friend with High Intelligence.

Well really obvious ones aside (bee + drill),

sudowudo = pseudo + wood, a reference to how he pretends to be a tree
dusknoir = dusk + noir the french word for black
Also beldum is dumbbell syllables reversed.

Voltorb = Volt (One way electricity can me measured in) + Orb (A sphere Shape)
Electrode = Electr (Short for Electricity) + Ode (Short for Diode)
Koffing & Weezing = What you would do if you was to get gassed.
Hoot Hoot = What noise owls make.
Noctowl = Noct(urnal) + Owl which what it is.

i always thought the fire lizard family names were witty
Charmander: "char" like fire chars objects and "mander" like salamander
Charmeleon: again "char" and "meleon" referencing chameleon
Charizard: "char" and "izard" this one's just lizard

also Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee referencing Jackie Chan and Jet Lee (karate fighting dudes)

and pretty much every name in pokemon has some reference none of the names are completely random to my knowledge although i may be wrong

Tauros is correctly spelt Taurus which is represented by a bull in the Horoscope Zodiac.

Pineco is a Pine Co(ne) simple.

Turtwig is just Turtle mixed with Twig.

Grotle is just Grove mixed with Turtle which is what Grotle's specie is a Grove Pokémon.

Torterra is just Tortoise and I have researched this a bit came across a Florist called Terra Plants & Flowers in Vancouver, Canada in which Nindendo of Canada is situated, also Terra is also a latin word for ground so the florist is could be called Ground Plants & Flowers and Torterra is a Grass/Ground Pokémon so all we know Game Freak could of named it after the florist in Vancouver.

PS. I have discovered them myself by looking at the names and not cheating.

That would be Bruce Lee, not Jet 'Li'.

Pikapika represents the sound of glitter/sparkle/shiny. Pika is also the name of a hamster-like animal that's actually more closely related to rabbits. Chuchu is the equivalent of 'squeak'. Chu also represents a kissing sound, but I doubt that has anything to do with it...XP
