Hoenn a tropical dissapointment

You know, Hoenn is actually the most diverse region to date, check out how many things were put into it. It's quite creative, then say Johto, Kanto, Sinnoh, or Unova for that matter. It changes suddenly, one minute you're in a metropolis and the next your traveling a desert. It's true Hoenn could've been more though out, but most of you are forgetting that Hoenn is a yin-yang balance between Earth and Water, hence it's shape. Plus, it was pretty exciting traveling over water then doing it less than 5% in Kanto or Unova.

Hoenn made Pokemon feel like an adventure, or probably more JRPG-esque. It was pretty fun doing most of the things in Hoenn, such as Contests (which I was addicted to), and Battle Tents to a degree.

So yeah, I love the Water-Earth balance and the diversity, Fortree shocked me to be honest.

I liked playing R/S/E. It was a more diverse playthrough (minus the repeditive bug and sea pokemon, but hey that's every game so far) I loved how they had very unique cities unlike the other generations where it was city to city with either travelling through the woods or a cave until you got to that one special city that was a bit more difficult to travel to. Fortree was really cool and Lavaridge with the hot springs. Who didn't love being attacked by ninja kids popping out of the ash piles?!

Hoenn was the worst region IMO..
Too much water routes.. :S

This, but I started to like it a little better recently. But I hate water in general so...

I love Hoenn.
...
But then again it's not my favourite region. It loses to Johto by a millimetre.
The music, the routes... don't argue, but I even loved the water routes. And who didn't love making secret bases in trees? :D
Or running through ash covered grass to make glass flutes?
And then the towns... A town made out of tree houses, a floating log city built on Corsolas :D
Hoenn really is an awesome region.
Really.
Really.
Trust me on this.

Tbh, the trees in the Battle Zone looked more tropical, and that's based off part of Russia. However, Gen IV had better graphics.

I hope they'll re-make Hoenn and do it more tropically, although it may ruin it a little (would give more differences than originality between it and Emerald, at least)

AHEM!!

I dont think its meant to be tropical first of all!!more towns then trees.like one forest. So lay of hoenn lol

and yeah a re make of hoenn would be beast.

I never really played Hoenn that much, the games came out when I was going through a stage of severe disinterest with the pokemon franchise, bought Emerald quite late into its release and didn't even complete the elite four. It makes me sad because it seems to be a very interesting region that I can barely remember playing, but I guess I can always go back and replay it, although I'm sure it will seem a bit dated after B/W. I can totally see why people complain about the long expanses of ocean, the lack of pokemon variety can get annoying.

Hoenn actually looks like a beautiful region at times, but man I dislike the vast amount of water it presents (granted, a stupid grudge to hold, but still).

People seem to have mixed opinions on Hoenn.

Personally I liked it, especially the beaches. I liked some of the more vibrant palletes they used for the region, while Sinnoh (pre-Platinum) seemed too dull and flat, even when they tried to vary the areas.

I loved the water areas, especially the underground areas you could explore with dive. And the surf command was not unbearably slow back then...glad they fixed it.

I think one of the main things people have against Hoenn was that it was completely incompatible with the earlier Pokémon games (with good reason). It seems like that hate lingered, because there's very little else about Hoenn to dislike. I think it's probably the best region around, with almost every location being interesting and varied, even though it can't rely on the nostalgia that props Kanto/Johto up (they weren't that great, guys).

As mentioned, some people dislike the large surfing area (because of constant wild encounters, but no one's mentioned the movement speed of surfing). The graphics themselves only look poor because you're comparing them to the newer games - at the time they were great! With Hoenn we got our first foray into different kinds of environment (puddles, desert, beach, grasses, etc.) and they certainly went all out with that.
