How do I enable this

Switch your style to "AF16". Good luck!

honestly idk why it didn't work for you at first since most people seem to have got it automatically. I actually had the same problem as you. Have you set a manual style override in your usercp?

It didn't automatically turn on for me when I logged in today, I had to manually turn it on myself. I do normally have my forum skin set to something other than default so that's likely the reason why. Take it Audy didn't set it to override people's forum skin choices.

It initially was set to override forum skin choices.

Same thing with me.

I can understand why people might be shocked and subsequently angry about a sudden change to a website they're used to. Some are just so set in their ways about using a website or forum that a major--or minor, minor ones can be trouble too--change posits a boisterous reaction, and usually not one that's positive in nature. It's not so much a lack of humor; a person may have a wonderful sense of humor about it, so much as it is a lack of tolerance for unnecessary humor, humor that goes a bit too far.

I came into this, I guess, a little too late, so I haven't seen any difference in the forum other than the direct links to the later-generation Pokemon games discussion forums being gone, but I can live without that for a day. I'm sad that some users' low tolerance for what should be a novel jab at sensibility has led to a reversion, and I'm sure they mean well when they protest the change. I myself don't think it goes too far; I've been a user of internet forums since 2002, I'm used to shenanigans like this. I guess I'm a bit desensitized to it.

All I guess I'm trying to say is that I get where people are coming from on this, and sympathize with their feelings, but ultimately I have to say it's just a day's worth of goofing off and silliness, so they shouldn't take it too hard. Remember Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice what can be interpreted as incompetence", or corollarily, "what can be interpreted as ignorance".

tl;dr it's just a prank bro :pink_wink: /s

Can we keep this style though? I kind of really like it.

If I might add, I'm utterly amazed at how such a simple joke (compared to things we have done in the past) has blown out of proportion so dramatically. Like, I don't remember this amount of pissed-offness even the year we did something similar with the theme + removing signatures + making the forum virtually unusable for real, not just mildly inconvenient. Hell, this was pretty tame compared to other years. I'm just amazed by how angry things seem to have got this year.

Like wow, the thing being removed in just a few hours over complaints is... sad.

I like this post. Maybe in the future, there will be a feature where I can click a button to acknowledge that. *clicks like button in the future*

I don't think even Lerroux sparked negative reactions at such a level.

For real. Just let me click on people's names to get to their profile and I will keep using this skin. It's like a more awesome version of Poke Link 4.

I really am an old fart if I like this theme, aren't I?

You are an old fart even without the theme! :D

no sam you are amazing shh

I don't mind if the April Fools' Day 2016 forum style returns as an option for those who want it, although one would probably have to add the Generation 2-4 forums...? {XD}

I'm not sure; maybe it's because some users are getting weary of April Fools' Day after having to "anticipate/make an allottment for" it so many times.. I usually look forward to the PokeCommunity April Fools' Day joke, although this year, I just don't feel too up for it, for some reason.. >_> Ultimately, I feel like toggles (if possible) are the way to go to satisfy "April Fools' Day" enthusiasts and people who don't care for the antics - I would think that if people are willing to make layout changes for a one-day joke, surely it's not too much to ask for an option to maintain normal usability..?

To be honest, although I managed to get through some of the past April Fools' Day joke implementations (avatar replacement and word replacement come to mind; and I actually look forward to what the "joke" will be at times) and found some of them funny, I felt that the "April Fools' Day 2016 forum style" was more frustrating to "experience" than it should have been. For one, I wasted time trying to find a proper "Log In" button (all I saw was a "Register" button that seems to be more reserved for people without accounts; if I didn't see the toggle posted earlier, I would have had to resort to using an exploit via the AFD 2016 style's "Search" button going to an error page when you're not logged in), then I wasted some more seconds trying to find the "forum style switcher" (which I thought would be at the bottom, but no dice), and I did like 2-3 double-takes on the front page to check if the "Generation 4-Generation 6" subforums were indeed missing for the day or were just re-shuffled in a recent forum rearrangement that I figured that I might have missed due to my recent inactivity.. I managed to access the Sun/Moon subforums thanks to an un-dismissed notice; otherwise, I would have had to resort to finding one of my Sun/Moon subforum posts, and if I hadn't posted at all, I would have probably had resort to using Google. (/mini-rant)

Admittedly, these problems are rather minor in the grand scheme of things.. >_> I guess what I'm trying to say is, when you have to jump through hoops just to log in and/or access a sub-forum that should/normally would be on the front page just for the sake of a (roughly day-long) joke, I feel like there's a problem. -_- At least with the previous years, I could actually log in and get to sub-forums with relatively no problem. And the timing of April Fools' Day is somewhat inconvenient for Pokemon due to the impending Sun/Moon announcement on Pokemon Sunday/whatever it's called now; the warped accessibility of the Sun/Moon sub-forums kind of quashes some of the near-event speculation, in my opinion.. The "forum style switcher" absence was jarring since I couldn't even try to silently resolve the forum style problem myself and avoid April Fools' Day myself. -.-

In any case, toggles FTW; thanks for the fix, Ausaudriel!

Fast fact: Pressing Tab once on your keyboard automatically takes you to the Username field of the login section on the bottom of the page. I was navigating it on an older computer and for some reason it doesn't like my gaming mouse so it only moved horizontally, not vertically, so I had to rely on keyboard presses for navigation.

Hmm; I tried your suggestion (just to put it in practice), but it took me to the "midway point" between your post and my first post in this thread, for some reason.. :x I'm still not seeing any Username section/log-in button whatsoever when I am not logged in (in which case I default back to the AFD-2016 forum style) or when I deliberately switch back to the "April Fools' Day 2016" forum style.. The log-in fields (including the Username field) are fine when I use Ausaudriel's AFD-2016 toggle URL address, though.

What about on the main forum page? I used it there, not in a thread display. That might be the difference.

Gotcha; yeah, the tip works on the front page (would've been very useful as a sticky; that would have helped me so much hours ago)... But..I mean..exactly why are those login-fields at the bottom of the page, and only on the front page? ~_~ That seems like the most illogical place to put them.. 0_o I feel like I might have looked down there before but completely missed it, probably since I tend to attempt log-ins at times while in subforums.. We have come a long way in forum design; many thanks to whoever from vBulletin or PokeCommunity re-positioned those things.. -.-

WHY DO I KEEP ON INTENTIONALLY FRUSTRATING MYSELF?
