how do you reply to VM's?

I always view convo. So much easier, like most I usually forget what I just said.

I go to the conversation because most of the time I forget what I'm talking about with the other person, haha. I also like to go back and read some of the older conversations for memories. :)

I simply click "View Conversation" before I post a VM. I sometimes post straight in the other person's profile.

I usually click on the other persons profile. I only click on the view conversation button is if I have forgotten what we were talking about.

I go to their profile first before clicking on "view conversation." This way, my name would be included in their last 10 visitor(s) on this page were. It also depends on whether I remember what we're talking about. If not, then that gives me more reason to go to "view conversation." I also tend to start replying back after I get a certain amount of visitor messages.

I click on their name which takes me to their profile and then leave them a message in the message box :)

For me, it's typically 50% direct-to-visitor's-profile, 50% visitor conversation. The conversation is helpful for reminding me of what we were talking about before; if I can remember the topic offhead, usually I just reply straight on the user's profile. I try replying to VMs as soon as possible unless something comes up or I have to plan out some long VM response (which fluctuates from 20% - 85% of my VMs, it seems >_>). The longer I wait to respond, the more difficult it is to jump right back into conversation, and I hate delaying responses to VM questions...

Depends on what I'm responding to. If the last VM is short enough for me to remember and dash off a quick response to, I go directly to the person's profile. If, however, the last VM stretches on for a few pages, I go to the View Conversation window and leave the tab open for a while as I work on a response.

Almost all the time I view the conversation, partly because I like it that way, and partly because most of the times I don't remember what I was talking about.
But sometimes, if the person in question is someone I don't recognise, then I'll go check their profile out.

If I'm starting the conversation, I stalk down their page :) otherwise I view the conversation since it's so convienent to just click that button on the comment.

View conversation pretty much all of the time. Or unless I want to stalk their vms. Which I usually don't.
