How many friends do you have?

Well i think i would say there is three or four people like that. One friends ihave known sence middle school. Two other i know sence high school and one i'm liveing with. To cut coast on bills.

(This is Kairi, my account has NOT been hacked. I just wanted to post this while it was on my mind)

Let me start by addressing the foremost part of this poll?IRL friends.

I have one friend who is very very close to me, and she?s the only person I?d consider a friend. I know other people, talk to them, yes. I?ve had friends in the past, thought the other closest one (happened to be named Andy) kind of?fell away when we stopped going to the same school since I became homeschooled.

My friend and I are alike in many ways?love video games, often the same sense of humor and so on. Do we disagree? Of course! We both like Japanese subbed anim?, though I love Japanese music and she abhors it. She thinks my MP3 player should be full of the songs she likes, which is mostly modern rock/rap and stuff, I prefer my video game music. We?ve never really had a _big_ fight. We get into little tiffs but never have we not broken down shortly after.

That being said, now it?s time to address to other part of this poll. Yes, online friends.

They _are_ different first and foremost, I?ll agree. The biggest thing of course is physical separation?you can?t seem them or laugh with them as you would someone IRL. You can?t hug them when they need it, or cry on their shoulder when you feel bad. Another problem is animosity?who knows who they are, right?

However while there are differences between the two, I don?t believe the aforementioned differences are enough to make them lose their title as friend, as good as the title given to IRL ones.

Is a joke really much different typed that spoken? Sure, there?s tone of voice and all but If it makes you laugh I doubt you change your laugh to accommodate how physically near them you are. I know when things happen to me, usually the first thought I have is ?I can?t wait to tell *insert my IRL friend?s name here*? Of course I?ll also see things and go ?Oh, Edmonton! Frosty is so lucky to live up there!? "That?s so much like Erica!? ?Kayleigh would love that, I?ll have to tell her!?

That sort of thing. I do a lot of things with my friends in mind?it helps me feel and do better knowing someone will support me, watch me, or take care of me. I need that, really.

I feel happy when I?m with my IRL friend. We laugh, we comfort each other and we just enjoy each other?s company. Of course I adore coming online because I get those same things from my online friends! My ?online life? is very important to me. It?s not my whole life?nor is my friend my whole life, but both are a large part of me. Especially lately, I feel?closer to my friends, all of them, IRL or not as of late. And it?s been a great relief to me, for which I?m very thankful for.

This is, of course my opinion?and sadly all I?ve said would not be shared by my IRL friend. She?d think I?m some sort of fool for talking to people online, thinking of them offline or wanting to be in their company. And?that?s why I?m kind of glad there is a separation between online and offline friendships. My online and offline lives mean the world to me?but if they collided I?d probably be mortified trying to handle it.

That?s how I feel anyways.

Yeah... PC members are excluded from this. Though I must wonder why Dakota chose to do that... Must everything be physical to be real? =/

To be truthful, I really feel just as uncomfortable or unwilling to chat with some of the members here on PC at times... just to be pointing the truth out. Not all, but some... PC has such a great tendency to say "All of you are my best friends! *smile*" so I thought that someone should break the nice trend that may possibly be white lies O.o;

If you were referring to me, then you're exaggerating what I said. Of course not everyone here is a friend of mine, but the majority of people here are my friends, not in the deep sense but in the sense that I get along with them without any sort of problems. I'm not ACTING nice, as if I have some sort of hidden agenda for being kind to other people and expressing gladness at their acceptance of me, it's the way I feel. If it seems too goody-twoshoes-ish to tell people here that they're my friends, then that's just the way it's going to have to be, but I see it as a simple expression, and there is no way I would consider everyone here to be a friend, nor did I say that.

Yeah...it must...

What some people don't realize is that not everyone online is who they say, act, feel, react, or do stuff in how they would in real life. Now there are some people that are, of course, really nice and friendly and you'd think they're the same way in real life. But, some people are willing to say stuff online that they aren't if you were face to face. You may all think I'm loud and percoucious in real life when I meet new people, but I'm actually pretty shy around people I'm not familiar with...

yep

I have one best friend. One in the world, that i know will never tell any of my secrets, and try to hurt me. We have been best friends since fourth grade, and I love her with all of my heart. I would do anything for her, and I know she is there for me too. I wish she was in my team, hopefully next year.

I think if a person has...

1 best friend: That's really wierd
2 best friends: The perfect little group of buds
3 best friends: Still really good, but you probably won't always be able to do stuff together completely...
4 best friends: Crap kid...
5 best friends: ok STOP!

BOO ya!

@ Dakota: if that is so, then call me a fool who'll rather keep dreaming in a world of lies, than to wake up to a world of deceit...

o_0, no fighting guys *cough*lookatmyeyesrollinsarcasmLOL*cough*

Oh, so I'm weird Dakota?!?! LOL, but actually i do have a group of really good friends, but I wouldn't consider them my best friends. My good friends are the kids I've known since elementary school.

Well 5/6 of my current class are my friends. :P
If you count out of the whole world I have atleast 1,000 friends.
But out of all of them there's only 3 best friends I have.

*sigh* All that typing totally ignored, as people disregard what I just said regarding online friends. Fufufufu, that?ll teach me to put time into my posts. ._.;

I think that your post was "ignored" not because they didn't read, but just that no one else agreed... -_-

Aww, I read it and I agree with you, Kairi. I kind of have that problem; none of my real-life friends enjoy most of the things that I do, and so it's nice to have friends online that you can talk to about all kinds of things! (Pokemon, other Anime, etc.) They would think that I was wierd if I told them that I do this, lol. XP But oh well, they can think that. I'm so happy to have found this website, and have joined it, because I met all of you here! And even if we haven't met, everyone here is still a real person, and there is a possibility that we could. (DT lives really close to a place that I visited in Houston. O_o He could have met me there when I went! He's been there several times. It's kind of a wierd thought, but it's also really neat. I also could have met tmbjr, if he had been at the Pokemon convention.)

And I do think about all of you a lot offline. ^_^; Especially like when I see someone's name, or I see a character that's in someone's avatar, or screen name. (Like Kairi when I play Kingdom Hearts, Chrystie when I see that girl on 'Full Metal Panic!', etc.)

See,no one has alot of true freinds i mean sure a few aquaintances but rarely someone you can rely on, someone you can talk with, someone who supports you, someone who would die for you...a true freind is a thing to cherish

as for me i havent really had but one =)

For no man hath greater love than this...that a man lay down his life for a freind

Yeah, why does Kairi's post suddenly remind me of "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid?! Oh yeah, because I was just listening to it, lol. But, it does make me think of how a lot of us want to meet each other. So we can be part of each other's worlds...heh. JUST A THOUGHT! ^_^; I haven't been in this thread lately, Kairi, so I didn't reply right back. If I saw your long post, I would've definitely read it; because, heck, I write long posts and we gotta stick together, lol! ^____^ And now that I've read it, I agree with you wholeheartedly, also. You're not alone!

Anyway, I'm extremely fortunate that I found this website, too, Kayleigh. I forgot what I was searching for, but PC kept coming up as one of the top results. So I came here, and I joined. I honestly didn't expect to be around this long. But, I'm really glad I did since I made so many friends that actually share my interests. Sure, I've met people IRL that enjoy anime and manga, but for some reason...I just don't bond with them like I do with the people here at PC. Like one girl that's in my dance class adores anime, too. However, when I asked her if she liked Inuyasha, she said she wasn't too big of a fan and I was like, "WHAT?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!!" *shakes fist* That's when I think of Kayleigh or Kairi...and the wall scroll situation...heh. ^_^; Yay, Kayleigh, you think of me as Kaname Chidori from "Full Metal Panic!"? My personality is a lot like her's...I kind of sound like her, too. Weird! And there was this one little girl in the class I'm Princess Jasmine in, and me and "Aladdin" have to to pick her up and spin her around...she reminded me so much of the younger Kayleigh, lol. Of course, I don't know what Kayleigh looks like--but by her description she fits this little girl's features and shyness. Light brown/brown hair down to her shoulders and she is just so adorable. She has this soft little laugh, too. It's awesome...lol...yeah. ^_^;

I have 3 best friends, so I have no Idea what it's like to have several best friends...and I also don't know what it's like to have no best friends at all...

The same applies to everyone else...A born king doesn't know what it's like to be a born slave...
