How to visit all regions in 2021?

Hello, Pokemon fans.
I have long wanted to dive deeply into the Pokemon Universe (main series games). To begin with, I would like to visit all regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola and Galar in 'best' way. And I also want to be able to transfer pokemons from all played games to the latest version.
But there is so many games and their 'remakes' that I'm confused. For example, Diamond and Brilliant Diamond, etc.
So maybe someone can help me with this:
0) Is it even possible now?
1) What set of games do I need? Crystal, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Black/White, Black2/White2, X/Y, Ultra Sun/Ultra Mun, Sword/Shield?
2) What set of devices do I need? Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS? Does Nintendo still sell 3DS?

I would be grateful for any advice.

For Kanto, play FR/LG. It's got a lot less glitches and you can transfer your Pokemon from FR/LG to D/P/PT, then Pokemon Bank/Transporter. You have to pay a fee, though. For Johto, I'd say play either G/S/C on virtual console or play HG/SS. I think either experience would be good for anyone. You can transfer your Pokemon to bank from the virtual console games. For Hoenn, I recommend OR/AS over RSE so you can plant berries if you need to, and it's easier to transfer Pokemon to bank and transporter that way. Sinnoh, I'd say just play Platinum until the remakes for now. But, if you want to wait until the remakes, just go for those. For Unova,I'd say play both Black/White and their sequels. You honestly can't play Unova without getting the full experience to understand the full story. Since X/Y are the only Kalos games, just play those, if you want, but I honestly didn't like X/Y, so I would never go recommend them. For Alola, buy the Ultra games. They're better in many ways than the original Sun/Moon. As for Galar, get whichever of the games you like more.

You need a DS, 3DS and a Nintendo Switch. You can easily still buy the virtual console versions of the original 6 Pokemon games. The DS games are extremely expensive these days, though, so you're going to have to search on places like Amazon and Ebay for those. No, Nintendo no longer sells the Nintendo 3DS, and they're selling very high. Perhaps look to Facebook Marketplace for a cheap 3DS.

Also, in order to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home, you need to pay for a subscription. Just do a one month one if you only plan to transfer them once. It's probably going to be an expensive journey for you don't any of the Pokemon games, so I wish you luck. And be very careful with fakes. Game Boy Advanced games have many fake cartridges on third party websites.

To cut down on the number of devices you will have to go through the hassle of getting, get a 3DS and a Switch. You can play through 7 of the 8 regions on the 3DS alone (the only one not available on it is Galar), and you can transfer your Pokemon from each of the games to Bank and then to HOME (and then from there to Sword & Shield and future games). Pokemon games and old gaming devices can sometimes be expensive and a pain in the ass to find.

I should have mentioned, I never had a Nintendo. If I am not mistaken I played Fire Red and Omega Ruby, but on emulators. Therefore, do not be surprised if I ask questions, the answers to which are obvious to you 🙃

Okay, so.

The original six Pokemon games: Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal

I recommend FireRed/LeafGreen over the originals (Red/Blue/Yellow) because it's a less buggy experience. I also feel like FireRed/LeafGreen are the best start for newer players since it's Kanto. But, since FireRed is an extremely popular game(?), it's hard to come by outside of emulation, I suppose. You likely won't encounter many glitches in Red/Blue if you're planning to play normally, so if you would rather do that, that's definitely up to you.

Crystal's Kanto is also a lot smaller and not the full experience of the region, but if you would prefer to do that, I would still recommend such an option for you.

I'd honestly recommend either Platinum or Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, I'm just suggesting Platinum for now until we wait for the games to come out, since they aren't out yet.

How exactly..?

The 3DS can play 3DS games, DS games, and the first two generations are available on the 3DS eShop for download. So that lets you play through:

-Kanto (via Red/Blue/Yellow, or even Gold/Silver/Crystal if that counts for you)
-Johto (via Gold/Silver/Crystal, or their remakes, Heart Gold/Soul Silver)
-Hoenn (via Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire)
-Sinnoh (via Diamond/Pearl/Platinum)
-Unova (via Black/White and their sequels)
-Kalos (via X/Y)
-Alola (via Sun/Moon or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon)

leaving you with Galar as the only one not playable on the 3DS, as SwSh is the start of the newest generation and also only available on the Switch

It also makes transferring Pokemon to the most current games easier. If you went for FR/LG or the original Ruby/Sapphire, you'd need to have a GBA and a DS in addition to a 3DS in order to transfer, due to how transferring Pokemon worked back then. Whereas everything on the 3DS can connect to Bank, and then from there go to HOME, you're basically cutting out 2 or 3 steps by playing most of it on the 3DS.
