I think it looks great but can you ensure the text is always readable by manually overriding the text color? And pick a good color for that? That's one thing that always gets me about code like this is that the text gets hard to read sometimes when you use a dark PC theme like I do because it inherits a white text color from the forum style. (this goes for the text in the float as well.)
