    Okay.

If the world had one language, and just ONE ... what would you think it would be?

    I voted chimp. It'll be fun. :D

[edit]: Blah, forgot to add the "Other" option.

Probably Latin, becasue in reality, if you think about it, we wouldn't have Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, or French without it.

Ideally, Esperanto. It's actually an artificial language created from snippets from major European language by one Ludovic Zamenhof.

If the world had one language, right now I'd have to say English. I don't mean to sound ego-sentric or anything, but so many people arleady speak it. If not English, Spanish or Chinese would most likely flourish, for large speaker counts.

Actually, due to China's massive popuilation, the most currently fluent language speaken in the world is Chinese (Well, one form of it anyways =/) I think. That or it was just 'experts' saying that Chinese will be the most commonly used language in the world when we hit the 2010 mark...

English. Only 'cause it would be the only one I could understand, of if not, they could try like a bird's language, that'd be cutely impossible.

I think the only one language the world would speak would be one that's made up of a mixture of all existing languages! :D Or else we shouldn't speak a langauge at all! :P

My guess is that it'll either be English or Chinese. Some non-asian countries are already starting to teach their young dependants Chinese. Anyways, it'd be easier for me, since I somewhat understand Chinese. XD I'd rather it be English though. That'd be much, much easier than Chinese. o.o; Though, I do admit that I know more people who're more fluent in Chinese rather than English.

English is an obvious choice its an easy to learn language (thats why most schools teach it as a second language)

I think it probably would be english. Already lots of people have it as their native language or speak it well. But my opinion if just "in case when" xD

Want an "other" option? I can add it if you want. ^^

Anyway, I'm not sure. I want to say English, but perhaps that answer would be a bit biased, since I am a native English-speaker. It wouldn't be bad though, right? ^^; *shot*

I've always been told that English is the most difficult language to learn. Every single foreign languages teacher I had told us that learning French or Spanish is much easier than a French or Spanish kid learning English. I can't remember the reasons for that statement, but I completely understood.

I'd vote English simply for the fact that it is, as far as I'm aware, the most widely used language in the world already.

But the world would be a lot duller with just one language.

I don't agree with you. Every were you go, there is always the English language. In songs, games, tv-series, etc.

But to stay on topic, I voted fot English

It really does depend on the native language. English has been kinda piece of cake for me because my native language is harder (even though this might not always be the case). I know I might make many mistakes when writing (and definitely more when speaking), but my only obvious problem is with prepositions. The truth is I am very glad that people can understand what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I voted for Chimp. XD It would be really fun to have such a language around. Uguu~!

Since spanglish is not in the list, i vote english.

But really, at the way spanglish is going, it will take over the world.

*yawn* well, Dawson, its because the English language has so many rules (Ie. I before E) and so many rules that break other rules (except after C). Thats the one main reason why, the English language has alot of rules, and I mean ALOT, then there are, like I said, many rules that break the normal rules.
    I hope ya'll understand that. ^.^
