Anyway I would never ever like to see only one language in the world. Languages are for me like a kind of a hobby. I like learning them. As many there are the merrier *hurray* !!

But on the other hand if the world had only one language then ppl would probably feel bounded with eachother more than they do now. BUT IMO, who cares?! If ppl can get a long now than it's pointless to discuss ˝What would be.. if it was..˝ So, I trully hope that we will maintain all the beautiful languages we already have^-^


If the scenario with one language really does happen.. Then I wish this would be the language:

One of the reasons is that English has sounds that can be pronounced in lots of different ways while most other languages don't.
 
English, because it's the most commonly spoken across the world.

Really though, that's almost how it is, considering when I visited Japan, I was all like, "O noes i wont understand anything!!!11!!1!" But it turned out few people didn't speak English, and those who didn't could just ask others what I was saying.
 
I don't think that it matters which language the world would have if it had one. Maybe if that meant that all ppl would have the same culture there wouldn't be so much unacceptance and war (i hate both).
 
But Esperanto failed !! Only 1 million people learnt to speak it. The guy who invented it believed that everybody would learn it.

I think it'll be English, but I wish to be Spanish the one xD
 
My real thoughts on this is that the world should never have one language, as we would lose so much diversity in cultures, traditions, etc. But if there had to be one language, um, well I'm undecided, so I chose "others".
I think saying that the one language is English is jumping the gun. Sure, it might prosper now, but who knows what might happen later.
And my thoughts on Esperanto: unideal for the same reason I said above. I've heard that it is already a failure.

I'd vote English simply for the fact that it is, as far as I'm aware, the most widely used language in the world already.

But the world would be a lot duller with just one language.

I didn't have too much trouble learning English well, considering my natal language is Spanish. I understand English is relatively easy, whilst Spanish and other European languages are more difficult. At least that's what I've been told.

Anyway, I'd go with Esperanto.
 
I think Klingon should the official language of the world. As it says somewhere in the Klingon Dictionary, It is the language of the future.
 
If the world had one language, then...well, this is a bit biased, considering I can't think of anything else other than English. It's the one I'm most proficient in. o.o;
 
Chinese (mandarin, to be exact)

Considering how they are absolutely everywhere with increasing power in all aspects of the world (political, economic, whatever), it is not all that off to say that mandarin is slowly taking over English o.O;

Not being biased here either... I'm chinese but canton, not mandarin o.o;
 
To be honest, I think English was REALLY hard to learn. :/ It's not my first language (Do you believe that? xDD) and when I was learning it, it was a nightmare. Especially since there are so many more slang words in English, and it was so universally different from Chinese.

Chinese is tonal, so that would be extremely difficult for other language's to learn. Honestly, out of all my 13 years of listening to people speak chinese, I've only heard ONE person say a quote in chinese with the correct tones and everything without them knowing a single drop of chinese, other then the quote I'd just recited for them. And that one time was just today. :/ And only lasted the first time he said the quote, so honestly, it's not exactly the easiest language to learn, which is why I don't believe it'll be the most widely spoken language in 2010.

Anyway, back to the actual topic. Chimp is unrealistic, if you'll excuse me for being a partypooper. xDD English would have to be my say, because every time I go back to Taiwan, I can speak english and everyone'll mostly get at least half of what I say, even if they can't repeat it back to me, and it's one of the most highly studied language's in the three different school's my cousin's attend, so from what I know, that would be my say. :/
 
I vote for Al bhed this way everyone can have weird techy matrix looking eyes and i can convert everyone into square / final fantasy fanboys (and fangirlls XD ) . i think the world would benifit from this . everyone could like run around screaming CUNNO or MACHINA and noone will think im weird anymore for knowing how to speak it >.> .... XP

I think that english should be the language if we all HAD to speek the same language.
