5th Gen If you could replace the mascots!

    Basically, imagine you could go back in time to when game freak was deciding what Pokemon would be the mascots for Black and White. Then, imagine you had control over that and you could pick two different mascots for Black and White.

    Which two would you pick instead of Reshiram and Zekrom? And why? (Give good reasoning please? :3)

    Maybe another electric and fire type, or another legendary such as Thundurus and Tornadus. The games would still be called Black and White, buuut, the legendary N has control over and the one you capture may just be a run of the mill Pokemon! One thing though, if the Pokemon could be found in the wild now, then when you're deciding upon the mascots, you'll then have to consider removing them from the wild completely and only being obtained as part of the story. And they also don't need to be version exclusive Pokemon currently, since you can pretty much decide whether your two mascots will be version exclusive, or if you can obtain one of each in your playthrough - which means slightly altering the story.

    Either way it's up to you and what you think would work well as B/W's mascots. :)

    Also, please no posts about Kyurem should be third game mascot. And if you're going to post you wouldn't change the mascot, then there's no point in posting - since really I want to see a variety of views and not just "this won't happen".

    I'd like to see Virizion and Terrakion as the mascots, and Cobalion as the third. Although I don't think it would work well (because they still need Keldeo). The trio/quad seems to have an interesting history, and I'd like to learn more about that (I think I remember reading they used to train in Challenger's Cave).
     
    I like the idea of Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobaloin ans the mascots of B/W/? Keldeo can still have it's day, just not on the cover of the games. Sure N can't fly away after the credit roll, but game freak would've thought of something. Hey maybe Ghestis could've had Keldeo in his camp until you beat him and take it.
     
    Hydreigon should be the mascot. It has looks, charm and determination. All traits that a mascot should have. And come on? Who would not want to see Hydreigon's face on a Pokemon box?

    Anyways, it's powerful... more powerful than the ledgedaries. It also has focus and inner streighth.. all traits of a fighter. In short, a mascot should be personalbe, unique and bring something to the table and Hydreigon can do all of that.

    (I also think Gothitelle should be a mascot. I mean, she's a little girl with awesome inner streighth and can go against all odds)
     
    Petilil on the cover of White, Cottonee on the cover of Black. And that, my dear friends, is what's up.
     
    I don't know, I just can't see an epic showdown there
     
    Tough choice, but I think this should work:
    -Black: Mandibuzz
    -White: Braviary

    They're pretty much counterparts of each other (bird Pokemon that evolve at high levels and are of 1 gender)
     
    Can't I just switch the two? I mean, what if Reshiram was the mascot in White and Zekrom was in Black, then the colors would match, although Zekrom would disappear in a black background. XD

    If I can't switch them, then I would have chosen Minccino for White and Emolga for Black. Sigh...if only they gave Emolga an evolution or took away Minccino's. Or for another cuteness battle, Lillipup for White and Purrloin for Black. Either way, the boxart would turn from badass to cute. :3

    But if I'd like another pair of badass mascots, I'd choose Accelgor for Black and Escavalier for White, though by then I'd definitely pick Black. Accelgor is awesome.
     
    Black: Emboar
    White: Samurott or Serperior

    Would make the most sense IMO. Nice little throwback to the 1st gen, plus Emboar has enough black on its body and Samurott and Serperior have enough white on their bodies...

    I prefer Serperior as third though as it would also be a small call back to RSE plus it's Serpentine like the last two third version mascots (Ray and Gira)
     
    I'd probably do Braviary for White and Mandibuzz for Black.

    I would pick Gothitelle and the blob thingy.
    Mostly because the two mascots we have now are all really really masculine. come on, big ass dragons with fire and electricity coming out the back of them?
    Whats the point in putting in jigglypuff and all these cute fluffy pokemon if there not going to market the actual games at a feminine audience?

    I agree. Especially Gothitelle as a mascot. She's got determination and inner strength and she can beat Hydreigon and Garchomp. She deserves to be a mascot D:

    Reniclus on the other hand... doesn't. It's too perfect and it's not fair to Gothitelle or Pokemon Black as it is :p. Hydreigon deserves to be the white mascot. She's pretty, charming, feminine and powerful.
