I saw the earlier thread about the design which was strangely closed in a hurry... and instead of asking for a hide/show feature I'd suggest a reworking. By "intelligent redesign" I mean having some CSS work to where they stretch/shrink to a point, and having their height be static instead of dynamic, as ATM I don't notice it on my ridiculously small netbook screen.
I saw the screenshots of the other OP's, and they do seem a bit large for their purpose. I think the best fix would be to have them, like I said, stretch to a point (whether that be with pure CSS or PHP or what), and have the height be static and work with the pseudo-dynamic width. They look a little big and with how simplistic they are the size isn't necessary... but that may well be my small screen size (1024x600). I thought to ask so as to suggest a less abrupt and more all-pleasing solution than the other OP's to the thing as IMO leaving it be isn't the best answer for everyone.
