News: Introducing Mafia Groups

OMG This is legit one of the best ideas you have ever come up with. Thanks staff <3

However, there is one huge oversight from all this though.

I don't know if staff can access the Members list, but if you guys can, wouldn't that be unfair too, let's say Klippy joined my game, and I posted a group, wouldn't Klippy be able to view the members, and they can try to influence the votes because they knew information that was outside our control? Of course, we don't doubt you guys at all, but the problem would be is that there would still be that temptation to do it though.

Have you guys tried to code it in a way that only the group creator and its members be able to view the Members list?

Also a suggestion, the group feature seems to do wonders for games with Jailer roles, and I was wondering if you guys could add some kind of "anonymous" tag on a person, that way they can like talk like a jailer in EM? That be cool to see imo.

All in all, great work staff, and the love, work, and dedication in this forum is really <3

EDIT: BTW, the group icon thing doesnt show up for us. We can't edit them. Also, there is no other link to that page so yeah, you guys would probably need to fix that one

I love this feature. It'll really make the whole mafia experience complete, I think.

But seriously, the "Random Group" box in the group page needs to be removed. It gives away how many people are in a group...

I've left a nudge for Audy/HStaff so hopefully we can fix that soon. At least with Klippy's groups the numbers aren't important, but I could see that being an issue for proper mafia.

Right now with the Team Escargot group, I can not see/access the members list at all, despite it being a pinned group on the forum I mod for. I'm assuming this applies to hstaff as well, in such case. :)

Personally I'd still be partial to using Skype, but I can see how this could be helpful. Must we use the groups here now, or is Skype still permitted?

Audy has fixed the problems reported yesterday :) so GMs, you may now make groups for your mafia games if you wish! If you've got a Skype group going already then you don't need to change, but we strongly encourage new games to give this feature a go! ^_^

Yeah, about that, I still can't seem to change the group icon, and uhh I lost the power to edit my group settings, is that normal? :x

Unlikely. :') Can you access anything else from the Manage Groups option?

I also think this is too much effort for Klippy/Audy to do just for an AF prank.

Then you underestimate the effort mods will put into transient April Fool's pranks

who remembers Lerroux?

The "Manage Members" option is not visible in the dropdown, the "Edit Splash" option leads me to a blank page, and the prompt to provide a group image never appeared.

Everything else seems to be working though.

Also, despite being owner of the group it seems that I am unable to "View All Members" (takes me to the access denied page).

So mods no longer have to approve the posts?

I'll ask about the icons, group edits (it's one reason I mention in the guide how important it is to do Invite/Must Join), mods shouldn't need to approve posts, and yeah, you can't view all members even if you own the group. But I'll get with Audy soon and see how we can get those last few bumps resolved.

Also for the record: none of the staff, save h-staff can get into your group content but that doesn't mean you can break rules in groups. Admins and smods can easily get access if needed, but if there is ever an issue in a group, we will outsource complaints to fellow hstaff if needed.
