Everytime I see A Marvel/DC vs DBZ pic makes me throw up.I really hate to see those pics because there's no need to compare these two in such posts.I wanna hear your opinion especially to DBZ fans!

    Sorry for my English!!

    I'm...confused.

The title asks if DBZ is too overrated, but the OP is about how comparisons between Marvel/DC comics and Dragon Ball Z are unnecessary.

...So what exactly are we talking about?
I'm guessing he's sick and tired of Dragon Ball Z characters always being brought into the picture by fans of the series whenever any conversation about Marvel/DC characters is being carried on. Perhaps specifically about their powerlevels. Like, imagine this -

Person 1 - Hey, Deadpool is so cool and powerful he'd annihilate your XYZ superhero no problem.
Person 2 - Heh, as if it means anything to the all powerful Wolverine.
Person 3 - Don't even talk as if they're anything remotely powerful as Superman. That guy's invincible. Almost.
Person 4 - Yeah, right. Almost. You are aware of Batman's existence, right? That guy, despite being human, can defeat anyone with his intellect. You remember in that XYZ comic he used his brains to take care of the entire Justice league INCLUDING Superman?!
Le random fellow - Heh, Super Saiyan Goku. Just saiyan' (wink). **** your heroes and villains, they're nothing. One Kamehameha and they're done. In fact, just goku and vegeta, as seen in one of those famous pics on the internet, can wipe the floor with all your superheros and villains combined. LOL.
    Persons 1,2,3 and 4 - OH **** OFF.

Trust me, this DOES happen more than I'd hope. Especially on "anime/comic" groups on Facebook (cancerous as it is). Overrated probably refers to how much some fans probably "overrate" Goku's powers. Or any other character from the DB universe, really.

I find the entire powerlevel crap stupid, tbh. Different universes go by different rules. No use comparing characters like that. They're all imaginary anyway so there's that too lol.

    But then again - this is all my interpretation of the first post. I could be wrong. XD;

Ah, well if that is what they're talking about, then I'd say it's just that Dragon Ball Z's well known.

You could easily insert someone from other anime and it'd work just as well, but there's no guarantee people would know who you were talking about. As a result, the other solution would be mentioning pretty much any DC hero. I don't read Marvel/DC comics for reasons, but I do know that DC writers tend to go overboard. Superman's a good example, but there's also...S...Superboy Prime...

*ahem* So yeah. I don't really see the problem here. There are tons of other things that could easily be used in DBZ's place, anime or otherwise.

Dragonball Z being a action adventure genre, maybe, yes it is overrated. But giving it another glance, no it may be not. It shows all the character development and has been a great companion for kids since the 90s, even now today's generation loves it. Goku, ascended into power from a low level, unlike Saitama San from One Punch Man.

One Punch man isn't actually overrated, its way too overrated. But considering One Punch Man as a hilarious comic genre, it is well suited for itself.

Dragonball Z, had to go into the different omniversal demolition type power levels in order to keep the story up. Characters of Dragon ball have ascended so much that without raising the power levels of the antagonists, Dragon ball may fail to achieve a commercial success.

But, we love Dragon Ball Z ! Don't we ?

Yeah I love DBZ,but I just think some of those FANS right there are just retarded.Comparing power levels of a human and a saiyan?OH COME ON!!That's just too ridiculous. It makes me think that DBZ is overrated.Plus they're even comparing Naruto to this DBZ.Seeing this makes me throw up!

Well, one cannot compare Saitama and Goku. Saitama is in his own league when it comes to his own series, and Goku is in another level when it comes down to his own series as well. So it's not like we can collide the two of them into one, both of their universe differs from each another.

But if Saitama were to be ever placed in the universe of Dragon Ball, I don't even know what could have happened. Or simply put, i can't picture such a phenomena.

I've heard so many people call DBZ "overrated" that I've now concluded that it isn't. It's also quite a stretch to call something that's influenced so many action anime as such.

Thing with DBZ fans is that people believe Goku is omnipotent (just like Batman with prep time) and thus can beat any other character at any time in any dimension. VS threads are actually quite stupid and I hate it when people say "X stomps" because it depends on many settings: the location, what power can X and Y use, do X and Y have prep time, etc. You can't just say, for example, "lol batman stomps the sailor senshi because he's the goddamn batman" or the reverse.

DBZ just gets to have stupid fans, who say Goku can beat anyone and the DBZ universe is the most powerful 'verse in entertaiment history. In some "Who would win" forums DBZ battles are completely outlawed, and I see why. Goku vs Superman threads are absolutely cancerous.

And then Onii-sama obliterates everyone without even blinking.

Did you know the Flash can punch someone with the entire mass of the universe and Superman in some canons could sneeze apart entire universes?

Marvel stories get waaaaaay more silly than anything i saw from the Dragonball universe.

Well first of all Dbz is a whole different anime from what you have ever seen or seen it depending on your era. Some people may say that is overrated but it isn't instead it gave fuel (i mean ideas e.t.c) for other animes to be based on since it's very old. Moreover, with that technology they had at that time it was one of the best and almost every episode is a nostalgia for those who used to watch it as kids in their countries (even the original language was different lol) it still holds a great place i think in everyone's anime list. Moreover, Akira Toriyama Dragonball's creator is one of the best creators in the anime world i don't say it but you can read about him in the internet so at that time i think it was at the peak. Through the years, more and more anime will be created so each era will have their let's say Dragonball and so on. To sum up my opinion is that is not overrated and it still holds one of the best places (top 5) in my list. Hope it helps.

P.S I also want to note that Dragonball GT is not Akira Toriyama's made so exclude it and put in it's place Dragonball Super :) for those who don't know.

"Goku PWNS all in the long run" is very much like "Batman with setup time". DBZ (or really DB + DBZ), if you have enough patience to watch a realtime year's worth of it, is at its heart a character study of Goku and everyone he knows. They push themselves, get discouraged, get defeated, develop personally, and push past all obstacles. It's a pretty common theme for AMVs:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ilWQ4tIceY
They might not have made the trope but certainly dominated it.

It's the same case as Batman with setup time. Goku can lose over, and over, and over again; he trains, reaches some kind of inner enlightenment, then overcomes. Oddly, you'd think DBZ fans would push a Gohan trumps all agenda moreso since there's an in-universe excuse why he's more capable than Goku. It's silly anyway; these things are really just popularity contests.

X kills the Y universe stuff is pretty much a joke anyway, especially official stuff:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punisher_Kills_the_Marvel_Universe

I freaking hate Superman and love any character taking him down. Of them, the "Goku teleports Superman to a world with caustic suns" takedown takes second place in my book, right after the official Batman + Green Arrow one.

I have a feeling this thread will turn into Goku vs Batman with prep. Or even worse, Goku vs Superman.

If I go ahead and make a Justice League vs DBZ, or Avengers vs DBZ, or even a Justice League + Avengers vs DBZ + Sailor Moon (or Yu-Gi-Oh, or any other verse really) thread, well, you can't expect good things... The fanboyism would be absolutely ridiculous. On one side we have those who say "supermanwinslol" and "batman beats anyone with prep time", on the other side, "GOKU IS OMNIPOTENT LMAO" and "over 9000" memes.
