Is my computer dying?

I am no tech expert so please help me out here! D:

Starting today, my computer has felt very slow. The keyboard typing lags, the mouse scrolling lags, and whenever I am streaming videos, the videos become choppy. This isn't even a Youtube thing either. Even streaming videos on other websites still has choppy issues.
Like the video freezes for only 1-2 seconds while the audio still goes and then the video goes back to normal for like 10 more minutes and repeats the stuttering problem.

I don't understand, my computer isn't that old either. I got this HP Pavilion about 2-3 years ago. It has 6 GB of Ram, an AMD A6-3620 APU processor with a Radeon HD Graphics 2.20 GHz. I have Windows 7 64-bit.

And my internet provider is Optimum. I have 12 ms Ping, 15.80 Mbps Download speed and 5.15 Mbps Upload speed. Isn't that a fast connection? So why does everything on my PC feel so sluggish all of a sudden?

It's been happening with both Chrome and Firefox.

I'd try cleaning off your computer. Run some anti-virus software (AVG is free), cc cleaner, windows defender, and then I'd defrag your computer. You can find all of these pretty easily on google! :D - hope this helps!

If not, there's a "system restore" option (get to it by typing restore in your start button search bar) - it can restore your computer to a previous date...preferably one where it wasn't slow.

I already did a disk clean up and defrag.
I have Total Defense Security as my anti-virus provider. Should I do a scan with this software?

and will a system restore delete any files?

I wouldn't recommend a system restore, as those are only going to put back files you've removed with CCleaner and whatnot.

As well, I'd highly recommend using CCleaner and doing a cleanup with that. Just using Windows' disc cleanup utility isn't enough.

Currently doing a clean up with CCleaner. Also, should I switch to Avast or AVG for anti virus? maybe its my current antivirus causing problems, idk.

Security Essentials is probably one of the most efficient antivirus software suites available, and free as well. As recommended above, use CCleaner to clean up your computer, especially to rid of any temporary files no longer needed, then do a virus scan (both quick and thorough) to make sure that your PC doesn't have any infected files on it.

For best results, also install and run another anti-malware program (but do not turn on any real-time protection for anything other than the first one you'd like to enable). Sometimes what one missed might be caught by another.

If all this doesn't solve your PC's performance problems, get everything important out and reinstall Windows. If it's an OEM computer or running Windows 8.x, you should be able to easily recover... "Factory reset", in other words. Look in the manual for instructions on performing a factory reset for pre-Windows 8 computers; if you're running Windows 8 or newer, just check PC Settings > Update and recovery > Recovery and evaluate your options there.

Thanks man! I downloaded Malwarebytes and it managed to delete some of the third party spyware that I wasn't able to uninstall myself. My computer seems to be doing fine now.
