It was a dark and stormy night...

Seeing as there have been a lot of thunderstorms lately on the East Coast, including a hurricane that struck the lower areas, I thought this topic would be worth making.

Has your area been struck with any severe thunderstorms lately? Any bad power outages you've suffered? Does the sound of thunder and lightning outside give you the jitters even when you're in and away from it? Where I live, we've had quite a few recently, and the other day there were a few brief moments of power outages we went through, but it wasn't anything that really broke the house. We were without internet for a little while afterward, though.

How about you? Are you in thunderstorm haven? Discuss.

The last power outage I've had to go through was in 2005 lol. Nah, my place has been really hot and humid the past two weeks, minus one night where it stormed like crazy.

Ah, the best opening line ever written. (@ thread title)

We've been having frequent thunderstorms (and we're due for more later); however, we haven't experienced any power outages. The closest I've dealt with was the power going out for a second. The last time I did experience a long power outage, I was in my dorm and it was around 12:30 A.M., but it wasn't caused by a thunderstorm.

We got some from monsoon season where I live. I really hate thunder. It's so loud and unpredictable. D: The lightning is okay, and that I can handle. We've never had any power outages due to the storms. They aren't powerful enough to have that affect.

All it's really done is rain almost daily and generic thunder/lightning storms. There have been some occasions in which lightning was extremely active (went not even two seconds without counting a strike.) It's never been accountable for any power outages, in fact I can't even remember the last time I had one of those...

We had a thunderstorm that ♥♥♥♥ed up our neighborhood 2-3 days ago, and now the streets are full of leaves, and broken glass from car windows.

We have had pretty bad storms/floods here and the most recent one was the biggest hailstorm I have even seen. I was alone when the hailstrom happened, I was pretty chill about it. When I think about it I was laughing like a mad man when I saw it, just felt so damn funny.

But the floods were awful, it was like 2 weeks ago. It didn't happen in my city tho. But sadly many people lost their homes and there were around 9-10 deaths and 2-3 people missing.
A couple of photos for anyone interested.

    Spoiler:

The hailstorm in Sofia, right? It's the one I mentioned here. Dad even took my phone to film 2 vids of it.

Yes, the floods in Varna & some other regions were really intense. :/

I don't think we've had any thunderstorms out of the usual this year so far. The odd day was the one day that it did nothing but rain, but it wasn't due to a thunderstorm.

I live in Kansas, so thunderstorms are common. I've only seen power go out in this town once out of the almost 5 years I've lived here, and it didn't even knock out power everywhere. (The mall lost theirs, but my house ~2 miles away still had power.) Thunder and lightning don't scare me at all.

I'm only impressed if there's either a lot of hail, or the wind's so bad trees get blown down. Or a tornado. Please no tornadoes.

I had this Stupid Power outage, because of a storm that hit Georgia, while I'm on vacation. Even on thy way there, it was literally unviewable, and the only way to see was put on the darn headlights.

Thunder doesn't scare me, but makes me sleepy as hell.

We haven't had rain in a while. Even if Seattle is known for rain - it's very hot sunny at the moment (usually is in summers).

Two storms that I still remember:

Windstorm of 2006 - I think it was around Dec. 16th or so, strong winds that left almost the entire western part of the state without electricity - most power (even my home) was restored in 2 days, some smaller communities spent Christmas and New Year's without lights.

Snowstorm of 2012 - I think it was in mid December (can't remember exact dates) - almost 2 feet of snow (rare in the Seattle area) snowing all day - the next day almost an hour freezing rain, cloudy all other 3 days - about 4 days the temperature never reached above the freezing point of water.
