Well HGSS has little changes compared to the originals. Some that aren't really noticed. Which ones have you noticed?

I noticed that we can get Ultra Balls in Goldenrod Dept. Store making things much easier down the line. I dont really approve of this one, but its interesting.

You can get Dratini as a prize in the Goldenrod Game Corner (G/S only), while at the same time you could also get one as a gift from the Dragon Master in the Dragon's Den (Crystal only). The Game Corner Dratini wasn't in Crystal, which I never liked because I wanted a Dragonite on my team and could never get one until after the 8th badge (without trading/breeding at least).

I've noticed they change on where to get HM Strength in the game. took me forever to get, and the change with the Farfetch'd too, to get cut.

One noticeable one is the location of where you get the Togepi Egg - instead of the Pokemon Centre, it's in the Pokemon Mart of Violet City, which is an annoyance when playing the Japanese version of HGSS. XD

The Farfetch'd puzzle is also different this time (two Farfetch'd and different way to solve the puzzle, but it lacks the amusement of a Farfetch'd flying straight into a tree), the puzzle in the Goldenrod Underground is now colour-coded and significantly easier IMO. Then of course stuff like gym puzzles tend to differ...

Oh and don't forget the slots. ;P

I noticed the Farfetch'd puzzle was different, it took me absolutely ages to figure out how to do it =P
I also like the addition to Professor Elm's lab, as the house on the top floor seems a nice idea.

-The unique music that played in Mount Moon in GSC was replaced by generic dungeon music.
-The layout of Union Cave was altered, for whatever reason.
-They took out the ingame trade where you trade a Chansey for an Aerodactyl.
-Speaking of ingame trades, notice how they're the trades found in Crystal and not Gold and Silver(Haunter for Xatu instead of Gloom for Rapidash in Pewter City). Plus they also have the Crystal-Only Dugtrio-for-Magneton trade at the Power Plant

Yes, I totally agree with the Togepi Egg.. When I played the japanese rom before english patches where out I was like, where is the damn egg! Its supposed to be in the pokemon center! Then I had to go to the pokemart because I needed potions then found the scientist there.. haha I screamed at my DS.

Once I get ahold of this in english, I'll probably be turning into hermit mode until the storyline is finished..

    1. It's now 3D
    2. The 1st Pokémon in your party follows you around
    3. It's on the DS
    4. The Pokéathlon was added

One change that comes to mind is the new Safari Zone. As the original GSC never brought it back, HeartGold and SoulSilver introduced a new Safari Zone near Cianwood City, and altered the closed Safari of Fuschia City to the modern Pal Park.

The old TM Rock Smash is also now an HM to keep up to the newer generation. While Team Rocket now has four significant Executives (Apollo, Arianna, Proton, and Petrel). Which they also changed the battle music against them to the Team Rocket theme, rather than a regular battle like in the originals.

There's one I didn't know about. Why would they do that, anyway? Random.

    Always made me lol.

Acutally, I kind of like it better. Although, I haven't played it yet, so I may be kicking myself later if I can't figure it out, lmao!

    Why Gamefreak? Why?
-The layout of Union Cave was altered, for whatever reason.
Is it extremely different, or just kinda?

HGSS follows more in line with Crystal with a lot of things. Suicune being stationary, for example.

Anyone else find it strange that they put the Safari Zone in Johto and the Pal Park in Kanto, rather than the other way around? It's more convenient, sure, but it still seems backwards. w/e

One thing I heard (correct me if I'm wrong) is that the poster in the Celedon Game Corner doesn't make the reference to the old Rocket Hideout. It used to say "Hey, behind this poster.....there's.....nothing!"

Also, Red has a Lapras rather than an Espeon. But that can be attributed to adapting to the hail, which is also new.

The part I bolded was in the original GSC as well. ^_^ I must see it when I go there.

You can't walk up and talk to your Pokemon in the daycare in the new ones, but you could in the old games.

You get to dress up like a Rocket Grunt! It is so cool. =D (Then Silver removes your disguise so you have to battle the Rocket Grunt.)

OMG I've always wanted to do that! Finally!

I think it makes a fair bit of sense this way actually, basically because of the whole 'hey, we're making a heck of a lot of Pokemon available to you before the E4' aspect, and the Pal Park only accessible after the E4 rather than just being closed until then. Going back to GSC the safari zone was closed for the Warden moved... to make the National Park (a sign within it has 'The Warden' at the end of the message). I suppose the Pal Park people then decided to use the land there for their own purposes (maybe they just gave up on the safari zone idea there?) while someone else made use of that land west of Cinnabar this time around.

The berry trees were taken out and replaced with Apricorn trees.

    No more room decorations. :(

    1. G/S/C was 3D just not in the same way that HG/SS is.
    2. Dur.
    3. Ahhh Durrrrr.
    4. Yep.

GSC was definitely not three-dimensional. It used sprites for everything, the DS games use 3-D models for the tiles, and sprites for everything else.

And the biggest change for me is the sad lack of room decorations. :(

Well , one really major change we all see from the start is the damn new grass ! :(

When I saw it in screenies , I thought that's the long grass from the N' Park . But , it turned out for these uncommon , weird vines to be everywhere !

They also removed the PokeRadar . Well , whatever I wasn't using it but my bag feels empty without it ! :P
