    The old one sort of...died, so I really think it's about time I made a new one. (Approved by Midori Chi.) If you're learning Japanese, in love with Japanese, or are simply interested in the language, then here's the place to post. =P

    * Discuss the Japanese language (and other closely related subjects (see above)).
    * Make Japanese tutorials and tip-guides, to be judged by other members, or simply judge other members' yourself.
    * Make fan translations of Japanese scripts or songs and post them here, for other members to see and rate.

    Japanese is...a wonderful language. Very easy to learn, too. If you don't know it, definitely learn it, and I (99.9.9.9.9, etc.%) promise you won't regret it. =P Speaking from (poor) experience, the writing is a lot easier to learn than the language itself, in my opinion, though Japanese grammar in general is rather easy to pick up on (certainly a lot easier than English).

    Anyways, welcome to the Japanese Fan Club, or 「日本語のファンクラブ」! Join, have fun, speak your mind, and unleash your imagination! (I'm pretty sure I stole that last line from somewhere.)

    I'll definately join! I'm currently learning Japanese where I get tutored for math since the people who run the place are Japanese. XD The place is called Kumon if anyone is interested.

    I agree on what nicoleb said. Japanese is much easier to learn than English. Heck, most languages are easier to learn than English since English is so complex with grammar rules and just random rules. Well anyway, I've currently memorized the basic 46 hiragana symbols so I don't know how to write in sentences, but I could write basic words/phrases. I could try and give tips for anyone if they would like to learn the language, but I certainly can't teach you exactly.

    I can speak and write some Japanese
    (Nihongo o hanasu koto ga dekiru - I can speak Japanese)
    (Nihongo o kaku koto ga dekiru - I can write Japanese)
    (Nihongo o yomu koto ga dekiru mo - I can also read Japanese)
    I know about 350 kanji and my current goal is to learn 500 kanji. I also know basic and semi-basic sentence structures. Sentences are easy to do in Japanese.
    Kaku ga suki desu - I like to draw
    E o kaku - I draw a picture (e - picture, kaku - to draw)
    E o kaita - I drew a picture
    E o kaitai - I want to draw a picture
    E o kaitakunakatta - I dont want to draw a picture
    Kaisugitakunai - I dont like to draw too much
    Gakkou de kaku ga suki desu - I like to draw at school
    ........ kakanakereba - if I draw.....
    Kono o kakanakereba narimasen - if I dont draw this (something may happen)
    e o kaite iru - I'm drawing a picture

    ^ Some of what I know, may be incorrect though
    and yes, I know all of that by heart, including the nakareba narimasen part.

    I started learning Japanese back in the 8th grade and am now in 11th grade, but I'm learning it slow and steady and take lots of breaks. I'm really enjoying the language too. It's so different, yet simplistic and easy. This language has become part of my daily routine. I currently contribute to the Serebiiforums' Japanese club and ask all my questions there. But now I can share my contributions.

    btw, verb wise, this language is easier than Spanish because in Spanish you have to change the ending depending on who or what it's about. In Japanese, you just need to know the regular form and the former form.

    Welcome, Fallen Angel_Messiah Of Black Roses (long name O_O). Well, strictly speaking, I didn't really write it. I grabbed it. I have no Japanese font converter on my computer, so I just have to pick 'em out one by one and paste. I've gotten pretty fast at it and it's probably what made me learn Hiragana and Katakana so quickly. But, seriously, it doesn't matter how long I study for; I will NEVER be able to tell the Katakana tsu and the Katakana shi apart, nor the Katakana so and the Katakana n. Also, I get confused with the Hiragana me and Hiragana nu. Look-alike characters really annoy the hell out of me. >>

    Welcome, Hantsuki (very Japanesey name ^_^). Come to think of it, is there any other language that uses "tsu" besides Japanese? And yes, English is very hard. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone who doesn't have English as their first language mastering it. My Japanese teacher's been studying it for 15 years and she still makes grammar mistakes. And like I said, the writing is much easier than anything else in Japanese. Katakana is harder than Hiragana. There's probably about 6 I still don't know. I'm always getting ma and mu mixed up. And there's the infamous tsu/shi and so/n (see above). >> And I've been doing something that I'm very happy about now; ever since I took up Japanese about a year and a half ago (though I did learn some things on and off before that, though never really stuck), I've been noting everything Sensei's been teaching us and storing it on a file. I take notes in class so I never miss anything to note when I get home. I want to make a tutorial when I learn more about the grammar.

    I probably screwed that sentence up. 350 Kanji?! Amazing! (Kanji is hard as hell. They're easy enough to remember (as long as you don't get look-alikes, and the Katakana look-alikes), but I CANNOT write them. Well, I can write the really simple ones like "nin/jin/hito" (person) and "ni/bi" from "Nihon" and "Youbi." Oh, and numbers. Yay for me! XD) I never knew that the particles, "e" and "o" could be used right next to each other, either. Oh, but I have a question: You know how the particles, "wa," "e," and "o" are written as "ha," "he," and "wo?" Are there anymore like that? I asked Sensei, but she didn't seem to think so.

    Also, members, be sure to check above on my first post. I made a (freaking massive) update...thingy. =P
     
    Count me in!! I'm anime obsessed so also kinda Japanese-related obsessed I think :P I aren't very good it at yet, but I'm here to learn it ;)
     
    Aw, I love Japanese!

    The only words that I know of Japanese are words that I pick up from anime, but I barely know any words! <3
    I want to learn Japanese! x3

    Actually I think Katakana is easier because when you usually read it in Japanese, you're reading English-originated words so you understand the writing better.
    And I, myself have a Japanese input system (they're easy to install) however sometimes I dont feel like using the kana or the kanji. I know how to write loads of them, more than 100 I think. And there's a trick to writing the really big kanji like 曜.
    If you enlarge that kanji, you'll see it's actually three different kinds of symbols combined. The one in the left is the kanji for day or the sun. If you memorize this stuff, then not only will you be able to memorize kanji easier, but you'll be able to remember how to write it too.
    Often, the biggest kanji are usually smaller than we think they are.

    ツ and シ - I'll tell you the big difference that always is used to tell them apart. The two small strokes on the top - ツ's strokes face down while シ's strokes are diagonal/slanted. Same with ン and ソ - however the ソ symbol tends to look narrower and the stroke doesn't point towards the rest of the letter.
    And the difference between the め symbol and the ぬ symbol is the loop.

    btw, this is where I learned all my verb endings, and this is where I learned much of my grammar.
     
    Welcome, new members. ^_^ (I've turned the Japanese into a Spoiler like you all suggested.) And thanks for the link, Crystal Clair. But you misunderstood my Katakana comment; it's easier because it's (usually) just Romanized English words, but it's hard because they're so simple and...non-swirly. And I know there's a loop with me, but I always have to hesitate to think of which one it is, which always makes me lose "Around the World" in Japanese class. "You?" (曜) Very true. And the two things at the top look like Katakana yos. That's how I remember that one.

    It's my ambition to master Japanese one day. It's the most beautiful language in the world IMO, with perhaps Mandarin and Spanish close behind it. :P

    Kanji is hard, but katana, romaji & hiragana, the basic alphabet of Japanese, are really simple.

    I hardly know any Japanese (things I do know are from the Anime ^^")
    I really want to learn more. =D
    For the characters, I have a Japanese character pack at my computer, and I use it to 'read' some scans (not that I understand everything xO). I started out with names of anime characters and so I know some Katakana. Hiragana and Kanji are fairly unkown to me.
    But I do know how to write my name in Katakana:クララ xD

    I'm very interested in the Japanese culture and I just think it's awesome.

    The 'Konnichi wa,' part was something I already know, but I had to search for the phrase 'How are you?' Gheh. I don't know loads of words, but sometimes, if I read them from different sites, I recognise them from an Anime.
    Anyway. Hope I can join! My name in Japanese (Katakana) is タリタ Tarita, actually Talita. That's what I discoverd with your spoiler, and with the help of Kippy I discoverd it was good.
    Yesterday I was trying to make some words with your Katakana spoiler and I ended up with ナルト which means Naruto. When I checked it in the series I discoverd it was good! =D
    And I just tried to make Pokemon (With the e instead of the é), and I got this; ポケモン I don't know if I did it right, but I think so! *Grins*
     
    ...Oi, can I join... or observe? I only know the greetings, but I'm studying Japanese through books like "Japanese for Dummies", for a year now... I hove no other people to talk to, so I did not improve. I consider this as one of my dark secrets, as I was hiding it behind my parents back... ^_^;;

    So... can I join? I have a Japanese to English and English to Japanese dictionary... so if need something. Tell me... for now, I'll try to learn the tutorials here... Ja ne! -Hiro

    Also, I've made a Japanese Romanization sound guide. It's at the top, in spoilers, between the Japanese Hiragana/Katakana guide and the basic Japanese words list. I don't think I missed anything, but if you think I did, be sure to tell me so I can add it. Be sure to include word examples (because English is such a damned complication language).

    I tried to convert my name and title to Hiragana, I'm sure about my name, but my title... it seems there's something still missing... I can't remember it.

    I think I forgot to add, "wa, no... etc.", I lost my other book about that, the only book that is left is my 2 dictionary, and a book called "Basic Japanese".

    I heard that Kanji is hard to learn because of it's complications... but when do they use Kanji if Hiragana is the standard and Kanata for Foreign words?

    On side matters... I'm currently making a Dictionary, I'm working on it right now (Japanese to English), I'll post it later. -ひろゆき

    I decided to contribute here... I really appreciate nicoleb-senpai for his tutorial, so I'll try to contribute to keep this Fans Club alive... I'll start with my Dictionary: I have Japanese to English and English to Japanese. I cannot post them in one go so I'll take things slowly, one by one.

    Ugh... I never thought writing this would be this hard... I only written 77 words. I have to write 100+ more!! Gah... I have installed a Japanese Language (which includes a converter, etc.) in my PC, so I have no trouble writing Hiragana. Now I'm beginning to feel 1％ of what nicoleb-senpai feels... どうもありがとう せんぱい!! -ひろゆき

    *there's a slight problem here, 'akambo' there's no translation for 'M', so I don't know what to write. Could someone help me? Also this is not proofread, so you could see some problems here and then... just tell me, ne?
