    Juan is a Gym Leader that only exists within the Emerald games in the Hoenn region. He is not in the remakes OR/AS, and his only other appearance in any Pokemon game at all was in the Pokemon World Tournament in Black2/White. Juan's team only slightly differs from Wallace's team in R/S. His team has a Crawdaunt and Kingdra instead of a Seaking and Milotic. In lore, it would seem that Juan was Wallace's mentor.

    What did you think of Juan? Did you prefer him or Wallace as the water type Hoenn Gym Leader?
     
    I was always more fond of Mikuri/Wallace since I thought his design was better. Not that Adan/Juan wasn't spiffy in his own way, I just thought he was a subpar replacement.
     
    I liked Juan, but he needed to have more attention given to him. The whole 8th gym, Hoenn Champion and Steven thing felt really weird in Emerald.
     
    ngl, he was kinda random and i've kinda forgotten about his existence until i came across his thread. although i suppose i get the reason why Game Freak went this route (they needed some sort of an excuse to make Wallace champion), Juan is... generally kinda forgettable.

    in short, i was more like "oh? he's the guy replacing wallace? oh ok then" and after i beat him i never really gave him a second thought.
     
    i played emerald before ruby and I genuinely thought that wallace wasn't really that kind of person that seems like a champion. it feels sort of out of place. little bit of surprise when I played ruby.
    I think Juan has a great character design though
     
    Like some others, I had completely forgotten his existence. I love his team and how he looks however.
