Mariah Yeater has filed a paternity suit against Justin Bieber accusing him of fathering a baby she gave birth to in July.
Bieber spokeswoman Melissa Victor has called the allegations "demonstrably false".

Bieber has addressed these rumors on the Today Show:
    Spoiler:

He has also hired a crisis management team to deal with the scandal:

According to TMZ, this is not the first time the mother has pinned her baby on someone-when she was pregnant with the aforementioned baby, she pinned him on her ex-boyfriend John Terranova:

Of course, like any other major celebrity scandal, the media is all over this one. Considering the general public's love-hate relationship with him (and his highly passionate fanbase), something like this was bound to happen. (Where is Maury Povich when you need him!?)

Justin Bieber would've been 17 at the time. In California, the age of consent is 18. Unless I missed something, this could potentially backfire on her. Which would be quite humourous.

This makes me think that maybe she's telling the truth. Why else risk sex offender charges? You are correct that if she indeed had sex with the Biebs, it would be considered statutory rape in California.

I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened before, considering all the people who would be desperate to say Justin Bieber had a child with them.
    NICE TRY MARIAH

Im not sure about the CIA exceptions (Close In Age) for California so this may or may not backfire. If it backfires even then it might not be that severe.

There are no close in age exceptions in California. It is illegal for anybody to have sex with a minor, no matter how old that person is.

Meaning its also illegal for the underage to have sex as well.

Cali doesn't have CIA exceptions but the crime is reduced to a misdemeanor if the people are close in age (< 3 years)

I honestly don't see why it's that big a deal even if it is true. Teenagers have sex and get each other pregnant; it happens. Justin Bieber, for everything he is, is not a deadbeat. He can afford to pay child support for 54 babies and still not make a dent in his mansion fund.

When I first heard of this story, my reaction was "...so?" I just don't get the controversy lol. It's not like he's setting a bad example for all the other 17 year olds who are having sex anyway, with or without his condoning.

LMAO, I mean is this really true? That Mariah gurl must be insane and had sex with a JB-look-a-like. XD

Well, all I can say is, if he's the father,I hope he'll take responsibility for his acts,
If he's not,as much as I don't like him,I hope that girl apologizes for making an scandal that could destroy his career.

That's just the problem with global society today. It's happening more and more these days-many years ago, this stuff was viewed in general as an abomination.

In other news... looks like Maury has invited Justin Bieber to appear on his show to take a DNA test:

Haha Maury, you never miss an opportunity...

And I don't think it's really a projection of society that teens get pregnant. Teenagers are sexually charged. Their hormones go crazy and they feel the need to do whatever it takes to release them. It's natural. I know that something being seen as an abomination would not stop me from doing it. If this is true, all it would mean is that Justin Bieber is no exception to nature.

Trying to stop them is pointless. If it turns out that this is indeed true, I hope that they turn it into a campaign for the use of protection rather than a campaign for abstinence because honestly, abstinence is silly in general and it's not a realistic expectation of teens whatsoever.

I hope that girl apologizes for making an scandal that could destroy his career.

While I agree that the girl should apologise if this isn't true, I'm not sure that this kind of scandal is something that could destroy his career. Having a kid is just not that big a deal, and it's certainly not enough to stop the plethora of screaming 12-year-old girls he has following him around the world. If anything, him having a baby might make him more attractive.

I haven't watched Maury in a few years because that show is nothing but paternity tests. All of the people who appear on that show really need to be "fixed" if you know what I mean.. However, if Justin Bieber does show up and faces that woman and the baby turns out to not be his, I want to see him do a "Not the father" victory dance and have "The Price is Right" theme playing.

The moral of this story is, use protection. This is why condoms were invented! I bet you some people will try to turn this into a case for old world abstinence. I mean, how hard is it to walk into a store, buy condoms and use them while doing it?!

True, scandals are used in publicity nowadays, but you gotta admit that this scandal turned this "non-fan"base larger

I am 100% sure that she's lying, Justin is a Christian, his mother would stop his fame in a heartbeat if this was true, look, if it is true, there's only one thing to blame his fame, I love Justin Bieber quite a bit, but fame always gets to peoples heads, so it could be true, I wouldn't believe it, I don't believe it, look she's 20, she's 3 years older than Justin for Christ's sake! I see most 20+ year-olds dislike him as they are too old for him, I bet she's a hater, if she is then Hakuna Matata.
So in my opinion... AVADA KEDAVRA MARIAH!

I am 100% sure that she's lying, Justin is a Christian,

In this day in society, that really doesn't change anything. I live in the Bible Belt with plenty of Christians that go off and have premarital sex. Waiting is taboo these days, even in modern Christian society. I'm not saying all Christians break the tradition you think of when you hear "Christianity," but for the most part, the people my age and Justin's age that are Christians still go out and have sex anyway. I'm not saying that he did, I firmly believe the kid isn't his, but I just wanted to clarify that at this point in time, religion is almost null and void.

It's still statutory rape. At least in California. (It's just how California is.)
