In Pokémon X and Y, our story takes place in a new region referred to as Kalos. This region is based off France, and includes various towns, routes, and cities which resemble to those of the country.

What are our thoughts on this particular region, did we like, or dislike? If latter, why so? Which location from this particular place would be our most favorite, and why? If there's anything we would change from Kalos, what would it be, and how would we take it all? Last, but not least--some new Pokémon were introduced in Kalos region, such as Chesnaught and Greninja. Of them all (excluding mega-evolutions, of course), which are we most fond of?

Well, it's certainly not my favourite region, I'm not sure why, but I didn't find any particular place in the region to be memorable (even though they forced you to spend quality time with the friends/rivals). I think the reason of that is mainly the music, I remember most of the tunes from the other pokemon games, but I got tired fast of the themes in this one, except from Snowbelle theme, I liked that town and its music. Then, the gyms, I fancy the little puzzles on them, but when they are unnecesary (like, there's only one obvious way and you just have to walk and wait until the animation finishes) I find them dull. Besides that, and probably because of exp share and the exp given by catching pokes, I found myself too overleveled for everything in the game so I had to make an alternate team with pokemon I've just caught to continue playing.
Finally, the new pokemon. In my opinion, they were few but good, I like most of them (except those faries that evolve by trading, damn I prefer garbodor over them). My favourites from this gen would be:
    Greninja. My starter.
Talonflame. Best. Early. Flying type. Ever. (noctowl is still my favourite early game bird but talonflame is just so good)
Pangoro. Kinda let me down with his performance in-game, but he still has the looks.
Doublade. Eviolite, sword dance, and wreck everything. Except special attackers, but well nobody's perfect (maybe its evolution).
Clawitzer. First shinny I caught in this game (got 2 shinnies and traded one away). I named it Zoiberg.
Heliolisk. Haven't used it in-game but I find it awesome.
    Aurorus. Same^.
Xerneas. Most graceful legendary after suicune.

I liked Kalos, except for a few parts. I actually live in France, and I found the first half of the game boring, but only because nothing felt new to me. For example, the old towns, the "celtic" city next to the coast, the noble castle...
I bet it was amazing for Japanese and foreign gamers, but to me it was just plain and grey :D
On the other hand, I loved Lumiose city, and I loved the original cities that come after the first half.

I was pretty indifferent to Kalos, to be honest...despite the fact that it was based off France, it didn't really feel all that different from previous regions. It didn't really have anything that set it apart from other regions, besides from the fact that the graphics had been updated...but I got the sense that if you upgraded any of the prior regions, they'd look almost exactly the same as Kalos.

I was more impressed with the cities in Black/White than I was with Lumiose City, to be honest - despite the significant graphical upgrade, it was still a very small city with very little to actually explore. Granted, Castelia wasn't much bigger either, but it was much more impressive, as it was completely different from past cities, and the multiple NPCs constantly running back and forth made it actually FEEL like a city.

Other locations...eh, what to say? Seen one route, seen them all. It was impressive, but it was nothing special.

Something about the Kalos Region just didn't feel right. Don't get me wrong it was a beautiful Region as a whole, but for some reason it just felt less dynamic than the likes of Hoenn & Sinnoh. Maybe that's because they're my top two Regions, but Kalos felt different to me in comparison to most of the other Regions.

Kalos would have been the best dang region in the series if it was just a bit bigger. There's tons of awesome places in it, like Reflection Cave, Parfum Palace, Pokemon Village, that ginormous freaking sundial in Anistar... But there's two things keeping it from greatness; there is not nearly enough backstory for the individual landmarks, and everything is way too close together. You have two villages, Vaniville snd Aquacorde, less than 10 feet from each other, and the routes connecting everything are much too small and linear. The routes should have been much bigger than they were. If it felt like way more of a journey getting there I think it would have made the individual towns feel that much more amazing once you got to them, and if everything had a bit of story tied with it it would make Kalos much less disjointed.

I've definitely enjoyed going through Kalos; its places were very fun to explore, if you ask me. Their cities are big, some of which contains restaurants where you could work and do tasks to gain rewards, such as mushrooms. By selling these things, we are able to earn ourselves some decent amount of cash, and do whatever we feel with them.

We've had so much new features introduced in Kalos games--X and Y--and on top of my list, my favorite would have to be character customization; I've always wished to personalize my player the way I have wanted, and being able to do such a thing gave me a great feeling! Alongside, I was also pretty fond of Friend Safari; it motivated us to make more use of Friend Codes, which, I believe, was rather unique.

One thing I did not like, however, would be events that we have had in Kalos; to me, some of them seemed a little slow-paced and hard to keep up with. Had they put a little more effort into this particular aspect, I'm sure things would have been much better in long run.

I think Kalos is a very pretty region with lots of different landscapes. It's not hard to navigate either.

I liked a lot of the Pokémon in Kalos, and it has the distinction of having the best fossils... Aurorus is terrible, but unique.

I really enjoyed this region too. There were so many cool looking cities and landmarks, including one with a tower resembling the Eiffel Tower (if i'm not mistaken), and the Pokémon were also quite good, even if there weren't many introduced.

I'm a bit mixed on my opinion of Kalos. On the one hand, it has some really nice scenery and beautiful cities, and it's the most diverse region we've seen to date, with some parts being coastal and others being cold and snowy. At the same time...nothing was really that memorable in this region for me. Not quite sure why. But I'm waiting for Pokemon Z or whatever the third version will be before I make my final judgment on Kalos.

If Z winds up to be their prequel as some fans are hoping, I believe it would be rather enjoyable to explore an old Kalos region. Most of their current cities won't be as urbanized, and some of their towns would be quite small in population, and I imagine. It'd be nice to see people wear older-styled clothing and whatnot, and there possibly wouldn't be much electrical things going around (meaning, stuff such as candles and lamps would be more common in places like indoors).
