Whether you've been here for a day or a decade, what are some of things you've seen/experienced here at PC that just make you laugh? Doesn't necessarily have to be funny. Just things you've picked up on in your time here.

Having always been interested in the psychology of a large group of people, for me it'd have to be these random phases that everyone who joins PC seems to go through. Older members know what I'm talking about, as I'm sure we've all been through them ourselves. From being labeled a 'noob' due to our atrocious grammer, random letters/numbers in our usernames and unnatural kindness towards other members to being a pretentious snob to anyone not in our circle of friends. There's the 'mini-modders' (as I like to call them) who feel the more *** kissing they do the better chance they have at landing a staff position (which may, in fact, be the case - I'm not here to judge). The list goes on for ever, there's a lot of random things we do because we think it's cool. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this - it is what it is. I just find it amusing.

I also find it really interesting how the people who blend in enough to seem socially acceptable to interact with, yet express themselves just enough to not be grouped into a forum stereotype attract the most attention and seem to get the most of out PC. Which, of course, is a good thing. I'm just saying how neat it is to watch someone you know has the right personality skyrocket in popularity.

Anyway, what are some of the things you've noticed around here? Go nuts.

    .. y'all.

Hmm let's see... These are a few things I have observed

    • The majority of people are sheep.
    • People actually think popularity in the eyes of the public is something quite important.
    • People change their opinion depending on the opinion of someone else.
    • "If you become a moderator then you have beaten the final boss on PC"- this is the mindset some people have
These all seem to be fairly similar to each other, I guess you get the idea. PC is just like working in business.

LOL pretty much just the best comparison ever. Besides, everyone knows free roam is way better than story mode.

@Pixy Guy: Ha! GTFO w/ that before you bring it back. I never even understood it to begin with.

I know, who wants to be a mod? You get some powers, sure, but, besides changing posts n' stuff, you could get those powers by giving some money and it'd be permanent. And you can't come here at your own discretion. You have duties and responsibilities and stuff. D:

Man, I forget which thread it was but earlier today I was talking about how I would've given an arm and a leg to be a mod when I first joined up. I think after you start interacting with staff you see they're just normal people and the novelty kind of wears off. Besides, you're totally right about the donation thing - more or less all the perks a mod has minus the responsibilities.

I've learned that PC is like most other forums; it's not better in any way other than that I made friends with more people here.

    Stay classy.

I've noticed, especially last year before I went on hiatus again that the tendency of teens to form cliques is unfortunately not limited to real life. I had no part in any of it, but just observing it all from a distance was enough to put me off :/

Personally I don't see the appeal of positions of power 'cause that just means you've got more responsibilities. I have plenty IRL, so I couldn't imagine having a role like that on a comparatively unimportant thing like an internet forum. Kudos to those who can devote time to such things.

I remember about a year ago TCTI was one, big clique.

Anyone else was shunned. Although, the clique has slowly decayed and is much more subjective to new people.

It's like comparing fresh mud to a rock. :D

Hmmm well I have experienced a lot of hypocrisy.

For instance this one time I got a warning for criticizing about the Pokemon anime because I did not give a reasoned argument, so from then on whenever I criticized something on this website I always tried to give a reasoned argument! And yet when I made a topic to say that I was going to set up my own business one of the moderators said "Nope, I think it's a stupid idea". That is not a reasoned argument at all!

Also they won't let me talk about fairies or penguins on Daily Chit Chat because fairies and penguins are "stupid" but they think a conversation about the number 4 is totally okay.

    The machines have you.

Haha I think I remember that... that was like, Will and all them wasn't it? Or maybe I'm just thinking of something completely different.

I would just like to take a second to say that this thread was NOT intended to be a "let's all complain about staff" discussion. That being said, you're entitled to your opinion.

More or less? ...well, no. :x

Anyway, I've noticed that all of the staff are lovely. And that PC isn't really as bad as people make it out to be, they just need to relax.

No offense to you Forever, you're super, but back when TCTI was one big clique, I do remember some staff power abuse on several occasions. I've basically gotten conformation that staff can sometimes get away with minor offenses normal members can't.

    No offense to you tho~

Diverting from the 'this topic is lulz at the staff' ideal, I'm gonna go for April Fools '08. All the members' usernames were changed to that of the moderator usergroup and you even got the slick userbar that comes along with it. This was moderately funny for a few seconds.

What really made it funny was when a guy who rarely ventured outside of some forum (think it was fan fiction and writing) thought he really was modded and made a thread in community questions and feedback, thanking everyone for their support and promising to work hard for the good of the forum. I read the opening post to his thread at least five times that day and lol'd each time.

Being a semi-seasoned vet (holy crap, I've been here for a while ._.;;)

    • There are many sheep
    • There are double standards
    • There are few, yet prominent ambitious people
    • Suckups are obvious
    • Trolling works 95% of the time
    • Some staff are mean, some staff are nice, some staff are just like normal members!
    • There are still cliques, but not as bad as they were a year or two ago

It's a nice forum overall though, that's why I'm still here.

I've learned a lot in life from PC. Not necessarily from the forums themselves, but by having to deal with the kinds of people here, I've had to figure out people in general...a skill that I had been rather lacking eight years ago, and still lack to a degree. There's still a lot of learning for you no matter how old you get I suppose. XD

    THIS ^

This is very true, don't believe me, go to the trade Corner. The guys with the biggest trade threads, Elheroeoscuro, RNC, Ginji, Latioslegends, Myself, Death Mande, etc, got popular because they fit in, and act like everybody else. They're friendly, generous, and trade a bunch, and that builds friendships very fast. Now, i laugh when other people whine and complain that they never get business or nobody visits their thread, and i see they posted "sorry, not interested" 15 times.

Its pokecommunity, were supposed to get along and cooperate, make friends, be active and post intelligently, for the better of the community as a whole. Making your profile viewable by friends only, not accepting friend requests, and not being social does nothing for the community. its a waste.

I still love PC. 99% of the people i meet here, i genuinely like and talk to often. The thing i learned i guess is that Power, whether through Staff privleges, having the ability to RNG, etc., or being a prominent battler, can go to peoples heads. Ive seen some people on here with Texas-sized ego's. Im not saying everybody with those sort of powers are like that, but the people on here who come off as unfriendly or snobbish have big ego's because they're exceptionally good at something and it goes to their head.
