Which occur first? Is it lighting or thunder?
Technically this is true, especially since that's how we often perceive it. However, thunder occurs simultaneously with lightning from the source. The delay between seeing a lightning strike and hearing a thunder clap has to do with how far away from the strike you were.Lightning occurs first.
Yeah! Speed of light is faster than sound so first lighting and then thunder.
Thunder is the sound that accompanies lightning during a thunderstorm.
But why does lightning even make a sound? :p
I think it's the same thing? Like I've never ever heard lightning how it sounds in movies even though i've seen it, but of course its always far away. So I think effectively Thunder is the sound of Lightning.
Not sure what you mean - if you mean how does the bolt itself make noise, I think it's to do with how quickly it heats up the air (because lol tens of thousands of degrees). The rapid expansion caused by the sudden change in temperature causes it to literally go BANG. The reason it can sound different is as you mentioned, then distance between yourself and the strike.
Think back to the fight between a certain two brothers in a certain anime you really like ;).
