    Omg. 8D Erica's posting a poll.

    I was talking with someone last night and we got into a sort of argument over which are better--long posts or short posts. So my poll is as follows:

    Do you tend to write long or short posts? When others write long posts, do you tend to skip them?

    For myself, it honestly depends. I used to write primarily long posts, but now I've loosened up, I suppose you could say, and my posts are a lot smaller depending on the thread, situation, etc. Sometimes I'll go all out and write posts that take me forever, though. Those are my favourite since it's so much fun. 8D As for reading long posts, I tend to prefer those. If I see a really short post, I automatically assume it's not very important since the person didn't put much time into writing it so I'll skim it. I'll also skim longish posts by people I don't know too well. I do read everything from people I know, though (long or small). :O

    To be honest, i like medium post, as if someone does an essay, i seem to just go to the posts before and after, it as someone seems to have read it and summed it up, So i prefer short, to the point posts.

    Well it depends on what I'm talking about really. I like short posts because they obviously take shorter to type and I tend to write long posts when I'm explaining something or I've got alot to say. I normally write short/long posts, in the middle.

    Depending on the situation, my liking for either short or long posts may differ. If for a serious situation, or even a debate, then I prefer long posts, they have more detail in them in which you can also learn from aswell (not saying they all do, though) I tend to read each sentence in long posts. People who do type long posts do not wish for the majority of their content to be ignored, do they?

    Shorter posts wouldn't give out a full understanding on a certain subject (again, depending on the situation). Especially when you try to brief what you're saying; you may come to a time where you just can't put a point across unless you go into detail.

    But that's just my opinion.

    I like long posts better cuz when I post short, I feel like I am spamming even though I'm completely on topic. I also like reading long posts because they usually dig into the subject and give more of a feel to me than short ones. Usually I'll do medium but when it gets down to it, I LOVE to post giant posts. Besides, I type super super fast, and without looking too. So fast, that I type faster than most secretaries at my school!

    Short, Sweet, and to the point. I don't like reading for 5 minutes to get to a point.

    Heh, Ashley is the queen of essay posts. Or rather, I was back in '04... XD I really couldn't post any posts that had less than three lines to them. Many of them were the length of short essays... and no one would read them. XD;;

    Now... now I'm just too lazy to write long posts. Like Erica said, it depends on the situation. If it's a post on something important, it'll probably be a long, though-out post. But for everything else, mine are fairly short, yet still longer than most people's~

    Whee, I like this poll~ And no, it's not because a staff member made it. >=P

    Do you tend to write long or short posts?
    Overall... I live in OVP and NU/W, and the posts there are not very long, sadly ^^; So my posts tend to be shorter. Sometimes, with polls... you just can't write out a huge post, you know? You just answer the question. If it's long, it's usually because I'm rambling again XD
    However, I do have a long post every once in awhile, if it something that I feel I want to talk about that much. ^^;

    When others write long posts, do you tend to skip them?
    That depends on the situation. Alot of long posts I see in OVP I tend to skim, because if they're long, I know they're good posts, and I'm a little lazy and don't want to read them sometimes. XD
    If it's a serious topic, then I'll take the time to read the posts carefully. The situation calls for it, or at least I think so.

    I mostly post a one or two liner for a post. Over my time on PC it kind of went up and down. When I first joined it was a few words (we didn't have written rules till me, Erica, Abby, D and a few others came along. So what rules PC had was word of mouth, or word of posts XD) per post. Most of the time it was just helping someone saying go here or there (it was the games). But after I got Modded I tend to change my ways and I made posts longer. But since I loosened up (again) I made posts shorter.
    But when it comes to Nintendo, no one and I mean no one on PC can out do me on a Nintendo rant XD. And them posts end up long, like all the posts in this thread (before this one) is how long it'd be.

    I do read long posts most of the time, I skim sometimes on long posts. But if it's something I like then most of the time I'll read the whole post.

    I rarely post a paragraph. Even when I get going I never really post more then a few one liners.
    Even in this post, I guess I just don?t have much to say. XD; *returns to under her rock* ;O

    Usaully on LJ, I tend to right long posts. Sometimes I do on PC when I'm explaining things and also on MSN as well. It depends on what I am talking about. Usaully my posts are long if I rant about something XD

    I prefer short and simple posts that are concise, relevant and to the point.

    Most often the long posts I read either stray off topic or the user is having a fun time ranting only about his/her feelings, oblivious to the outside world. Those tend to annoy me, unless they actually make sense. >_>;

    results may vary

    I usually just do one-liners and the like, unless I'm in threads focusing on issues of particular interest to me, I sometimes post nearly a page or two worth of info.

    Heh. I avoid long posts when using my own computer. I'm always in dangerof having to retype something, anyway. Stupid internet connection..><;

    It always seems like whenever I type up a long, insightful post, the evil PC server decides to go all "site not responding" on me which usually results in me losing my entire post ;_;

    Anyway, my post lengths vary depending on how much I have to say on the subject at hand. I usually try to keep them fairly short though. As for other members' long posts, well, it usually just depends on how interesting the topic is to me. I have a rather short attention span, though, so that tends to get in the way.

    Well, I prefer to write longer posts. :3 Although I don't usually type long posts on purpose, they just happen. XD It could be somewhat of a subconscious state of mind where I fear looking n00bish...thus I type big posts. XD

    If someone else were to type a lengthy post, if I'm truly interested in the topic at hand, then of course I'd take the time to read through it. But honestly, I've never thought about it that much. XD
