Long posts?

The length of the post depends on how much I want to get across, so it can be short if there's a small problem, or long if more detail seems to be necessary.

I just skipped some of your posts people, XD.

It depends for me, if I'm in an argument, I get all logical and long posty, XD.
If I'm posting in something like this, short to medium. XD

Its been a while since I posted a long post, usually all my posts nowadays are somewhat in between short and medium.. mostly short though.

Ah well I don't mind reading long posts, just as long as the person gets to the point right at the beginning.

When trying to explain something, it's good to post long so you can create a bigger more detailed picture for other people, but sometimes I'll only post half a line, because that's all I need to get my point across.

It depends on the situation really... If I'm explaining or rating something my posts easily get over 7 lines long, but if it's just about answering a simple question (like this one), I usually tend to keep my posts on the short side.

I ussually skip long posts unless they are worth reading, I don't like writing long posts, I try to make my point clear*faints*

Whenever i see a long posts i read it as thoroughly as i can ><;;
A short posts i really dont pay much attention to~ ^^;;

I usually don't read longer posts all the way through, unless there's something "juicy" in them.

It's not the size of the post, it's what you do with it that counts.

But how do you know they're worth reading before you read them? o.O

It depends what area I'm in. If I was in the DCC or MCG then it'd tend to be a one or two liner. But places like Game Dev and Other Games would require a lengthier post. I'd only ever write essays when it was in my own game thread.

I'd only read long *** posts by people I know or at least people I know are quite smart.

Unless I'm debating, short - I've (unfortunately) adapted to the spammy posting habits of some people. DCC is a bad influence.

In most cases, yes, because 90% of long posts I see are by members who think they're cool because they can flame staffers.

I used to type much longer and in-depth posts than I do now; I just don't tend to have the mental endurance to go any longer than I should, and a lot of people have told me that my old style used to be needlessly longwinded without greater length yielding more substance, so I've scaled back. I make long posts when the occasion calls for it, though; if I need to voice my opinion in an important matter I've never backed away from multiple paragraphs and such.

As for long posts, it depends on how I'm feeling. At times I'll reply then read the other replies, the order in which I do things is of no consequence to me.

Omg. 8D Erica's posting a poll.

I was talking with someone last night and we got into a sort of argument over which are better--long posts or short posts. So my poll is as follows:

Do you tend to write long or short posts? When others write long posts, do you tend to skip them?

For myself, it honestly depends. I used to write primarily long posts, but now I've loosened up, I suppose you could say, and my posts are a lot smaller depending on the thread, situation, etc. Sometimes I'll go all out and write posts that take me forever, though. Those are my favourite since it's so much fun. 8D As for reading long posts, I tend to prefer those. If I see a really short post, I automatically assume it's not very important since the person didn't put much time into writing it so I'll skim it. I'll also skim longish posts by people I don't know too well. I do read everything from people I know, though (long or small). :O

All my posts are long....

Longer posts. It's really where the habit falls, never satisfied with the results of a short one. Even if it can be answered in but a few words. Such as what someone said earlier that it makes them feel as if they spammed, the same would occur for me. Just not happy with shorter, I like to ellaborate more in depth for my personal sake.

Yes, variation all depends on the moment and so on moods. But even then, it's usually a bit more informative than most. (that can be proven from my previous posts.) Makes me happy.

I get the same enjoyment. Some can come out really long and some just stand out from the average posters, but not over doing it. Either way it's what makes me satisfied. Ever since a few years ago my mother would make me study until I cried and read until I died, I've grown to like writing/typing/reading with no problem. x_x Thanks mom, but she has helped me a lot with that aspect in the long run in my past. As said by you and several others, the longer posts are usually more worth the time to read, as it makes you assume ''more important.'' Now, it's very possible for some short posts to draw in just as much details as a longer one, which is because it goes directly to what you look for. Then we have the long posts that make some of us so interested in reading what has to be said. Again, that falls into the category of what it consists to your interest. Like you, I do aim for those I know more as well, it's that sense of familarity that makes you read it.

Just my opinion of course. =p Ohh yea, I always copy my work to a clipboard for document.... Just in case an error or something bizarre happens. (otherwise I'd be so angry. >_<)

Meh, not many people like to read long posts...so its always nice to be short and to the point..

I'd normally make longer posts for RPs, and I don't even do that anymore..XD

So basically, IMO: Short Response > Long Response.

Though I guess a longer response can be good practice..

My posts are mostly all short. I just don't have that much to say, and it takes way too much time to make a long well thought out post. xD
