I recently started LeafGreen all over. And I'm on Mt. Moon.

My question is: Does anyone buy the Magikarp from the guy at the pokémon center?

I do it. It is easier than fishing for one. And it can let you have a Gyarados at early stages of the game. Also, you can get one with the stats you'd like to have (Although it would imply LOTS of resetting).

It's funny how the game says "XXX paid an outrageous $500 and bought the Magikarp".

Later on in the game, you can't even buy a Hyper Potion with a measly (But outrageous) $500.

I think it is a good asset. What do you think?

Yes, I think its a good deal. ;)

I always buy the magikarp for the fun of it. lol

Due to todays heavy market on caterpies and weedle, I believe the purchase of a magikarp for 500, is a valuable, and wanted investment...
Arrocding to today's stocks you'd receive a pokemon that in the future could help you win the elite four, for just 500 dolla! :O 500 dolla is great deal!

My marketing staff have always told me to buy the magikarp and I always have! Not to mention you train the fellow through mt.moon you could walk all out with a gyarados like I did *heavy training required* so yeah, I always get and have liked the magikarp deal.

and PS. fishing for them have always been boring...:\

I have always bought mine in yellow and red. It has a secret magic moonkarp power. :p

I buy one just about everytime but I rarely ever evolve it into Gyarados when I play through the game. I bought that Magikarp just to increase my Pokedex count by 1.

    I LOL'D.

It is a PAIN to evolve it, so I understand why you rarely evolve it into Gyardos.

Oh, yes. Not many people see how VALUABLE the investment is.

Hm, it is a pain to evolve it, but it seems I always buy it and evolve it before going through Cerulean. D:

I never knew you could buy it XD

but when I get the rod I always fish for 1 right away

gain about..4 lvls get bored and put it away XD

thats about my Magikarp/Garyados experiences :P

I always bought the Magikarp from the guy. :o It's so fun to evolve the magikarp. I trained it up until it evolved.

yh lol i always luved getting magikarp and leveling it up its also gud 4 EVing if u really want but it was funny and a well worth investment shame you cant get be4 brock wudda helped my charmander....

Yeah, I bought a Magikarp, then evolved it to a Gyarados, so I can beat Misty. It was really helpful on some occasions, though...

Oh, lol. I'm one of those people who "wastes time" in the Viridian Forest to catch a Pikachu.

I always try to catch a Pikachu there ^^

Anyway, on the Magikarp matter. In the beginning of the game, you don't have a lot of money (if you suck) and thus, 500 is a lot. And the bite on Starmie should only work in FR/LG...

I've always caught one and raised it, just because its hilarious

I even have a Gyarados on my team that I've had since my first playthrough on Firered

I never bought the Magikarp~ It was too high a price for my little trainer. Plus, I didn't use Gyarados much in FR/LG.
