Fire Type Emblem!

In Fire Type Emblem you battle together as a team in order to defeat the enemies in a turn-based combat. Your team is victorious when all enemies are defeated. A wipeout of your entire party however, will result in a loss.

How do things work?

The game alternates between the "Player Phase" and the "Enemy Phase". During the Player Phase you have time to discuss play strategy and take your turn to do stuff (see below). Once all players have acted, it's time for the enemy team members (played by the glorious game master Lycanthropy) to strike. And when they are done, the next Player Phase initiates and so on.

On your turn you can take the following two steps (neither of which is obligatory):
Step 1. Move: Move a number of squares up to your Movement. Keep the following rules in mind:
- Moving can be done horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally.
- Some squares (such as those occupied by trees) cannot be accessed. Others require a special kind of movement to enter (a square in a lake can only be accessed by flying or swimming Pokemon for example).
- You cannot move through spaces occupied by an enemy.
- You may move through an ally's space. However you cannot end your turn there.
Step 2. Use an Action: An Action can be one of the following things:
> 2a. Attack: Use one of your attacks against a target within range. Take note that some attacks have a limited amount of PP.
> 2b. Use an item: Use an item from your inventory. This usually consumes it.
> 2c. Interact: Interact with the environment, such as picking up an item or talking to a friendly NPC.
> 2d. Sprint: Take a second Move action, as described under Step 1.

Welcome to the team, Wizard! We have a couple of days to decide on items, and you'll definitely want to have some items as we prepare to enter battle.

Since no one has claimed the Jetpack or Running Shoes that Mozilla had, I will give Felix my Oran Berry, and store my Cursed Shawl, and withdraw from storage and equip the Jetpack and Running Shoes. If Meta ends up leaving the party, I will also take his Corsola Twigs.

EDIT: I was going to take the Shock Wands, but it would be better our new ally has at least something to use entering his first battle.

Since Tails preferred playing as Azumarill, he now is Azumarill. The change is purely aesthetically though, so he's got the same stats as always. Because why not. :)

I think we're approaching the time of battle. If there's any changes you guys think we need to make before the battle, now is the time to do so. I am happy with what I have accomplished. This also means that I no longer have an interest in either the Big Root or the Rocky Helmet, since I think mobility might be helpful for me now.

This looked kinda dead from a distance, but upon closer inspection it's not.
Though I'm not sure if I should try joining, since you started a battle.

You can join in a battle. The first player phase is not over yet. It is just that this game does go by slowly since people can live busy lives or are taking it easy since it is summer still (in the Northern Hemisphere, at least). We have had players join in the middle of battle before and it was no problem.

You just cannot be a Legendary, Mythical, or Fully Evolved Pokemon (unless it can be reached by level up and is at or before level 30, unfortunately we are past the point until the current battle is done if you could evolve via an item). Other than that, I recommend being a Pokemon that currently isn't being used, but otherwise the Pokemon you want to be is your choice (although if your favorite Pokemon isn't picked yet, I would do that).

As far as story, you can catch up by reading the first few posts of this thread (the only thing that might confuse you are the npcs we can talk to between story battles, but a quick read on previous battles would be enough), but this otherwise is not heavily story-based (other than this actually being the chapter that has the item that the game's title references). As far as role-playing, that is optional. I do a tiny bit on my posts, but you otherwise are free to do whatever you want with your post, just make sure to say what square you want to go to and what action you want to do. Most players just say the square and the action they'll do.
