Suggestion: Make the bumping restriction in Challenges two weeks instead of a month

If any of you have been relative to the Challenges forum, you'll likely know how annoying it is when you have that last update you want to post but you can't because you were the last poster. I'm in that boat, and think that when you're documenting specific playthroughs of Pokémon games, when you want to discuss your next helping of it, a month's time of no replies I think is too long a wait. For example, I finished a Wonderlocke in Alpha Sapphire (a challenge that I run the thread of) on the 23rd (of February, although I did the Delta Episode on the 25th), and I want to post the last part...but I can't, since i'm currently the last poster and would rather not have to overload my post with text.

There are some forums like Pokémon Clubs that allow you to post after two weeks if you were the last poster, so why can't the same be done here? I just don't think that a full month of no other replies is enough to warrant no double posting at all, at least not when you're impatient.

How about you? Is two weeks too little time for something like this? Discuss.

I agree. I made it a month originally because of the main revival rule. That was the idea. I had no idea about Clubs' method of handling it though. I'd be for changing it to two weeks. No harm in that.

Now where is that Necrum boy...

Also lol that last line of your post makes it sound like this is a General Chat thread or something. :P (Not that it's a bad suggestion or post, just thought it was interesting.)

In Roleplay Corner, I don't even think we uphold a time rule anymore, at least not strictly. We just say that if the thread owner has given their okay, a person may double post in a roleplay. Sometimes people have spammed 7 short posts after one another in rapid succession and that's of course a bit redundant and messy, so that's when we step in.

The same could probably happen in Challenges too if there was no time limit, so that extreme might cause more problems than it would give freedom, idk how well behaved people are in that section haha. Two weeks sounds fair though, unless one week could even be better as I assume some have time to play quite a bit in one week?

As long as double posting doesn't turn into spam, it's really not a huge menace we're trying to combat on PC these days afaik. Challenge updates a biiiiit like Let's Plays in a way, aren't they? And the Let's Play section here on PC allows for double posting. So yeah, one week, two weeks... Alli and Necrum and the Challenge regulars probably have a feel for what's best, I just wanted to give a thought :3

In most of the events that I've held, Video Games related or not, I've generally allowed double posting to go on. Threads centered around constant updating shouldn't be held back to a restriction that can otherwise be easily monitored by a Moderator. In terms of these kinds of threads, I give power to the people: I believe we're all smart enough to know what's appropriate and what's not, so unless there's evidence that shows me that we can't update appropriately then I see no reason why there should be a restriction on threads like Challenges or Let's Plays when it comes to posting updates.

Unfortunately though, Challenges is not my section so Pendraflare you'll need to talk to Necrum about that. A post in this forum is all and good, but a direct message will probably get you a better response in terms of getting an answer. Here's a link to his profile if you want to leave him a VM or PM him directly.
