I noticed something the other day. Looking at my music collection, none had any female involvement, not even for vocals. So I looked into symphonic/goth metal since generally that genre of music is made up of female vocalists and I won't even bother to step into Pop. I tried listening to it just to see how I would like it; I didn't. Turns out that I really prefer males over females when it comes to the vocals of a band. It seems that females like to aim for a "pretty" style in their singing performance. Now, I hope no one takes that the wrong way, because I know some males in singing have beautiful voices as well like (IMO) Mark from Poets of the Fall and Joe Perry from Journey. Some are more intense such as Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and even the entire growling scene is what I like more than females. I can definitely notice some talent in females like Haley Williams of Paramore and Tarja Turunen of Nightwish. I like male singers the best.

Actually, now that I think about it, males and females don't sound all that different when it comes to growling and screaming... oh well.

ANYWAYS. Just say who you enjoy more and why. And just to spice it up a little more here is a list of my favorite male singers:

    Marko Saaresto
    Devin Townsend
    Axl Rose
Brian Johnson (yes, I think he's better than Bon Scott)
    Bruce Dickinson
    Rob Zombie
    Rob Halford
    James Hetfield
    Mikael Stanne
    Geddy Lee
    Ozzy Osbourne
    Layne Staley

I like both but I prefer females.

    Beyonce
    Lady GaGa
    Amy Lee
    Kelly Rowland
    M.I.A.
    Fergie
    Gwen Stefani
    Fantasia
    Macy Gray

    and for males just

    Jeffree Star
    Michael Jackson
    Justin Timberlake
    and a few others.

When I'm listening to solo acts, I usually tend to listen to female vocalists. But when bands are concerned, I prefer one where the lead vocalist is male.

Most of my music is bands with male vocalists, or the odd male solo artist. Placebo, Snow Patrol, LCD Soundsystem, The Killers, Pendulum...Savage Garden, The Fratellis, Lostprophets, Maxïmo Park and Louis XIV, to name a few.

Aside from The Corrs and Katy Perry, I don't really listen to a lot of females.

Females. They sing much better on the whole.

I usually listen to both vocalist. Male or female, it doesn't matter to me. Each and everyone of them have a unique style of music. Let me list my top five male and female vocalist.

    Female
    1. Mary J. Blige
    2. Janet Jackson
    3. Gwen Stefani
    4. Mariah Carey
    5. Alicia Keys

    Male
    1. Michael Jackson
    2. Usher
    3. Justin Timberlake
    4. Stevie Wonder
    5. Kanye West

As you can see a different varitey of singers. I have a lot more, but I thought I will post a few. :3

    I'm generally indifferent.

    Females:
    Catherine Ireton
    Brittany Stallings
    Trish Keenan
    Cat Power
    Kate Pierson

    Males:
    Roger Waters
    Morrisey
    Trent Reznor
    Kurt Kobain
    Kanye West (my guilty pleasure)
    Stuart Murdoch
    Jay Kay

Two of my favourite bands have Female Vocalists [Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sonic Youth] .. Even though Sonic Youth use both Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, they still use Kim alot...And Yeah Yeah Yeahs have Karen O, the best female vocalist ever IMO.

But most of my favourite bands have male vocalists.

    I voted both despite that.

I tend to prefer a female voice, women just... have a more, hm, clear voice and calm, I think.
It can add sometimes some male back-vocals, I think the men's voice can be somewhat... repetitive.
My favorite bands are Nightwish, Asobi Seksu, Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation, all of them have a female main vocalist.

It depends on the individual singer--I have both male and female voices in my massive collection

most of the bands I listen to have male vocalist. But I can name a few bands that have female vocalist such as Eyes set to Kill, OTEP, and High and Mighty Color

I really don't like female vocalists. :S Nor do I like men with high voices. Besides being too high, female vocalists tend to drag out notes and sing too dramatically.
