I'm going to give this map a 7/10. It is a good map, I really like the grass placement and the paths. However, the trees that you have all grow in straight rows (I'm looking at the five rows at the top left) which is unnatural looking. Also, the ring of water-rocks is unneccesary (you only need some at the bottom and the top to block off the water-route). I would suggest removing some rocks in the middle. Also, this map is plain (It has two types of trees, grass and path and that's it :P). You should try adding flowers and ledges. Also, try spreading the grass around a little bit throughout the map (it's only in one area towards the bottom). With these improvements I would give you a 10/10 :)
Erm, you contradicted yourself here. You said that the trees in lines look unnatural and then you went on to say that the only place rocks should be are at the entrance and exit of a stream/river. And also, damned that Natural Mapping tutorial because people always think that is
the way mapping has to be done to look good. Honestly, I see more well done maps when the trees are in rows. The natural mapping works,
when done correctly and with the right tiles. The normal fire red tiles do not look good in what people call a "natural mapping style." And I see people try to do it all the time. I'm not sure where the notion came from that Nintendo-ish style maps are wrong and terrible. [/mini-rant]
Anyways, so this won't be deleted...

Comments: Just trying out my new mapping style. I don't like it but meh. Anyways, yeah this is the first map of the re-start of Pokémon Shian. I will be requesting for the thread to be re-opened soon, just wait. Credits will be given in thread.
This map is okay. It's not amazing, and it's not horrible. I'll start by saying that you should vary the path size. A few questions you can ask yourself when determining the width the path should be in a certain spot are; Would this area be heavily trafficked? Or is this area only used by a small group? The flowers are not horribly placed like I've seen in some maps, but they are
a little spaced out. Try to bring them a little closer together because flowers do grow in bunches. The only problem I have with the tree placement is that the style changes. There's a bit of naturalness with the one tree tile, yet with the other, they're in rows. I think you should just stick to one style. Anyways, I'll give this map a 6/10. Definitely room for improvement, but it's still pretty good.
Sorry everyone if I sound a little angry today. I'm not in the greatest of moods. Go away rain. x_x
