    Short introduction
    Hi! My name is M.E.R.255 and I'm a pixel artist, bit of a website developer, and a Germerican (my term for German American :P).
    I might move to Canada, which means I'd be a... Germerinadian? :D
    It only took me 6 months to make a reply in this forum. :P
    I was... well... a little afraid to say anything, to be honest. ._ . Haven't had good experiences with some forums, while other times I get attached to users and then lose contact. -_-


    Reason of joining
    I'm hoping to...
    • rekindle my passion of doing Pixel Art
          (it's no fun to make stuff when no one cares about nor uses what I make >_>)
    • talk with people again
          (I talk to my best friend and... that's about it ._.)
    • find a purpose for smilies and sprite edits I work on

          (it's so much fun to share and create with others! =D)
    • learn how to make Pokémon ROM hacks and get the most out of the tools
          (me and my buddy really want to make a couple, but we keep running into problems or our lack of understanding how the 3rd Gen. tools works, so hopefully we can clear up some of these questions by asking you professionals or getting directed to topics that already discuss these issues ^^)

          (Only as hobby though and I don't get to code much anymore. =P Maybe one day I'll have more motivation to continue making myself a website from scratch. ;P But till then, maybe I can help out somewhere. =3 I overfilled my forum with BB codes and kept messing with the design. XP)

          (Oddly enough, I was quite lucky on those days, because I kept finding money on the ground outside. =O One person's misfortune is my fortune, I guess. ;P)
    • shape: triangle ∆
          (they're easy to draw, interesting in Math, have 3 sides and points, and just look great to me =O)
    • food: french fries
          (I LOVE them! =D However, I cannot stand those cheap ripple-cut french fries which remind me of caterpillars. >_> Never have I tasted fries this bland! oO)

    Problems with me
    I have no idea if I have any disabilities, thanks to a doctor claiming stuff like Autism while also claiming I could never talk or ride a bicycle, so... Yeah! No clue! *sweat*
    BUT! I do have these issues:
    (if you do not like depressing or negative material, you may want to skip to something else to read)
    • thanks to constant punishment and abuse in my childhood, I'm afraid to make errors, so I edit almost every post several times =/
    • Being forced to live in isolation as a child (parent telling me that I'm embarassing her for looking at people, while my sister made kids in my village laugh about and run away from me when they see me) I can get quite shy when I'm around many people... It's fine in the forum, but a chatroom with many people may intimidate me. ._. That's why I only had a clan of 10-20 active users back in the day... That was all I could handle. .#.
    • I tend to get quite depressed... actually am fighting it everyday. If I don't stay occupied, I'll get bored, and boredom will make me remember... and memories will make me depressed and make me question why I should even exist... Sorry for being so negative. >#<
    • my depression can lead to me isolating myself from people, making me stay away for days to weeks to months, even though isolation is one thing that depresses me, so I get stuck in a loop =/
    • I apologize a lot, but you could guess why =(
    • My replies can get massive, because I'm afraid to upset people by leaving out details, leading to misunderstandings... But also because I like looking out for others and try my best to make sure they get as much info as possible out of me. ^^
    • I'm half German, that's a disability on its own. :D Just kidding. ^^ With so much negativity, I had to put something silly in here. =)

    • Pokémon Game: Pokémon Crystal
          (The game is very precious to me... My dad lived across the ocean, driven out of the country because of my mother, and send me this as a gift. It was one of very few things I had of him at the time... When I played the first generation games, I was quite young. Even though I couldn't speak English, all of them were in that language, so that I could learn how to speak with my father. The second generation games gave me a feel of wonder. The designs of the starters, the legendaries, the expanded world, it felt amazing and I can't help but get a little teary eyed when remembering how love and happiness I felt back then when playing it. I miss those feelings...)
    • Regular Pokémon: Few too many to list!
          (If it's tough or adorable, it's most likely my favorite, much like Chikorita and Aggron. ^^)
    • Mythical Pokémon: ♥ Celebi ♥
          (She was the most beautiful Pokémon I've ever seen... I always wanted to capture her, but I didn't know that wouldn't happen due to not knowing of the event... One day I will use a code to get the GS ball and capture her. I say "her" despite most mythical Pokémon having unknown gender because she's my "Poké Princess" ^^)
    • Types: Water, Grass, Ghost, Dark, Steel
          (Water- and Grass-type have much to do with nature; Ghost- and Dark-type look mysterious and more edgy; and Steel-type look and are tough)
    • Teams: Rocket, Skull
          Team Rocket is the classic, original team, I can't dislike them. =) Plus Jessie, James, and Meowth are hilarious! XD Why Team Skull though? Well... at first I thought that since the Alolan region has a worthless police force and is so peaceful that maybe the team exists because someone went "We gotta teach them guys to wake up and stop snoozin' about!" *tries imitating poorly* In other words, I thought the team tried to help the island by keeping people on guard for worse bad guys and only acted like villains to actually aid them. Doesn't seem like they were thinking that deep when creating the game... Nevertheless, they made me smile and I'll pretend that was their intention when making Team Skull. ^^
     
    Least Favorite / Disliked...
    • Pokémon Game: Pokémon Moon
          (I'm sorry, but I cannot stand that game... Even if I would have played it as a child, it would be my least favorite. Being forced to go through hundreds of forced dialogues and cutscenes, hours of exposition just infuriated me. I enjoyed the games for feeling like I could explore a new world and befriend myself with creatures, never did I complain about a lack of story. The Anime has provided loads of that. What also bugged me was the lack of humanity of my character. He would always have that smile on his face, even in intense moments, maybe change his expression twice throughout the entire game. The fact that they zoomed onto his "always smiling" face only irritated me more. Also, saying your region's name to greet or say bye to people seems silly to me... It's like me saying "United States of America, everyone! :P")
    • Regular Pokémon: Klefki
          (I like the design... but it's the idea of a Pokémon shaped like a key. There are man-made Pokémon like Porygon, but keys weren't around for millions of years. What purpose does it have when doors hadn't been invented back then? What lead it to be a keychain? Unless it's also man-made or someone can convince me to reconsider, it will only bug me... Sorry. HOWEVER, if it was a Steel-, Fairy-, and Ghost-type I'd understand it a lot more, seeing how a ghost can imitate or possess objects, much like how Honedge seems to be that case. ^^)
    • Legendary Pokémon Trio: Forces of Nature
          (Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus are the first legendaries that I did NOT want to capture or encounter. They don't resemble Pokémon to me at all. If you said that "Dr. Robotnik put on tons of make-up and hopped on a cloud-shaped vehicle to trick Sonic", I'd believe you. =O)
    • Types: The fact a Pokémon may only have up to 2 types at a time.
          (There are Pokémon that beg to have 3 types, because you can clearly tell there is more to them, like making Charizard Fire-, Flying-, and Dragon-type.)

    What I do (when motivated to, that is... not with money, but with a reason to do it =/)
    Pokémon is fun to edit and make sprites for, but really, I actually...
    • learned how to sprite by making Super Mario RPG ones! =D It's way more difficult with its isometric view, so it was a great way to
    • did many N64 renders (animated, by pain-painstakingly taking screenshots of the game as a ROM and removing the background of each frame by hand) when I get the motivation to, uploading them in wikis or deviantART ^^ I'd love to find a way to utilize them more...
    • create an animated cursor for the computer, or cursor for websites ^^ (unfortunately I only had the motivation to make one set of cursors as a gift...)
    • draw in MS Paint sometimes, which isn't all that great, but good enough to show what the Fakémon or NPCs look like ^^
    • make some badges, icons, headers, and other stuff in Photoshop =3
    • write massive bios which can range from 5 pages to 20 pages of info. Per character / Fakémon! XD
      (That includes blood types, height, weight, favorites, dislikes, diet, family relations, thoughts on family members, backstory, nicknames received from people, type of being, role in society, age, zodiac sign, maritial status, occupation, sexual preference, philias, phobias, behavior, friends, relation to other species, comparability, and whatever I can add! I get quite into it! ^^)
     
    Mertual team ;D
    Me and my buddy (Merry + virtualboy2558 = Mertual ^^) have been supporting each other for 5+ years! Everything we make we show, discuss, and improve with/for another. ^^ He's actually a better Pixel Artist than I am. =) At least from scratch. ^^ I am quite good in detail when it comes to editing and improving stuff, but he can make several sprite Fakémon in 3rd Gen. style a day! =O It takes me many hours to days to just make one. *sweat*
    I'm not trying to promote him, I'm just pointing out how much I see in him, because he means the world to me. ^^ ♥



    I spend WAY too long on this topic (like 5 hours trying to come up with what to write, how to write it, and several edits XDDD) so I hope this looks good enough for you. =)

    Hey there M.E.R.255, welcome to PC! We're glad to have you here with us. This is a very interesting way to introduce yourself! So much information to take in, but the more the better! PC can seem a little intimidating at first, but it just looks that way on the outside, once you start posting more, you'll find many sections you like and many members who enjoy the same things you do. I'm also a web designer, which I still do in my free time. Wish I had more time for it though. We have a very nice Art & Design section where you can post your pixel sprites. We also have a very extensive Fan Games section so if you ever get the urge to post your ideas about your region and fakemon. I think once you get 10 or so more posts, you'll be allowed to post image links in your posts. If you need any help don't hesitate to ask!

    ps: pokemon crystal version is the best :D
     
    I'm glad to see that my introduction hasn't gone unnoticed. ^^ Sorry for how extensive it is, but I'm one who tends to try a bit much... maybe it's the German side of mine, not sure. =) Matter of fact, now that I'm more awake, I'm going to edit this intro yet again, just in case I missed something. *sweat*

    Like mentioned, I haven't had good experiences with several forums before, but let me list what I mean and why it held me back from posting in here...
    • one moderator upright insulted me in PMs
          (Just because he could. I was new, so users wouldn't believe me that he bullied me.)
       
    • a staff didn't like my frequent use of smilies
          (They were used in written form and only to express my emotions after a piece of dialogue, not to spam or make the site load longer.
       
    • had nothing to do with the topic they claimed to aim for
          (Why was it that the Nintendo forum focused on talking about politics?!)
       
    • my ex-admin used me like a tool
          (I was quite loyal to his Nintendo clan and its forum and chat. After spending days searching for Nintendo-themed smilies and creating over 100 forum ranks he took all the credit. -_- He had a thing for using people who were nice and too timid to disobey.)

    Sigh... sorry for writing so much again. I can't help myself. >_>
    I think 10 posts may take a while if I don't loosen up and make my responds a little shorter, haha. XD

    I've looked on the main page and saw just how many sections there are. O_O I love it!!! =D Sorry, but I'm one who LOVES organized forums! ^u^ It seems PC is more focused on the user's need to express themselves and find what they're looking for, which I respect. ^^ Also saw lots of forum themes with the creator's names underneath them, which is nice that you're giving credit and acknowledging their skills as well as allowing them to contribute. =)

    Me and my best friend have come up with a region and several Fakémon for it.
    I'd show some examples, but am currently not allowed to use the IMG or URL tag. =/
    BUT! If you look at my avatar / profile picture, you can see a masked smiley (me in my normal smiley form =P) trying to give orders to a distracted Virchu (she's playing a GBA SP). ^^
    Once I'm allowed to show those things I'll update this or post them in a separate topic in the appropriate section. ;)
    Also don't worry, I'm not upset by that; in fact, I'm glad this is the case. It's good to see that the staff wants to protect its users by not allowing new members to spam material that isn't suitable for the forum or even hazardous to its users. ^^

    Hey M.E.R.25, welcome to the community. This is by far one the most interesting introductions I've seen on the community, as long as I've been here. You seem to be full of enthusiasm, which is good to see {:3}.

    Well it took me almost an year to make my first post on the community, so I can relate to the awkwardness.

    I have an obsessions with smileys too, I guess they're the closest you can get to expressing your emotions on the internet :).

    And finally someone who thinks the number 13 is lucky. I'm not really superstitious, but the number 13 has proved lucky for me on a number of occasions.

    I'd say the best way to rekindle your passion for pixel art is to try something new. Might I suggest a sleeperlocke?

    I love curly french fries. ;3; Though I almost never eat fries in general lol. Welcome to PC, M.E.R.255!

    Ooh yeah.. Crystal is an A+ game. The sprites are lovely and it's very fun to replay. Shame you're not a fan of Moon as I found SuMo to be amazing, but to each their own--I respect your opinions. =) Have a blast here!

    Hehehe... you sure are a perfectionist. =P I know that we had edited the sprites of one of our OCs for over 2 years, just because you wanted to make sure she's absolutely perfect. ;) (You know the one I'm talking about XDDD) And I love when you get informative and detailed on the subject at hand... like this topic you made here! ^-^ This guy can research and tell you about anything he can find... like how certain Pokemon can be as hot as Sirius! o_o (He did a whole topic about that, but I can't post that here since I don't have enough posts made. ^^; Check it out if you can, though!)

    I would love if one of these days we would play together Pokemon Crystal, since that is your favorite generation. ^u^ And also so we can try to capture your Poke-princess. =#) And yeah... am not a fan of Pokemon Moon either. ^^; So many things that make me angry about that game... I should go into a full list one of these days on why I personally don't like that entry. >#>

    Oh golly... I still love how you pointed out that Tornadus, Thunderus, and Landorus look all like Eggman from Sonic. =#P And since you mentioned it... KEEEEEEEYCHAAAAAAAIN POKEMON! OoO (Sorry, had to scream it since Klefki was listed here XDDD) I agree that Klefki should have been added a Ghost type, since that would at least explain why it's a set of keys when locks on doors haven't been around for millions of years (like how natural evolution would work ^^; ).

    Maybe I don't like those fries because I only got them on bowling alleys and when a fast food restaurant ran out and needed to get a cheap replacement. XD Maybe their fries just... sucked. XP

    Also love seeing so many positive things about Pokémon Crystal! =D I never knew so many people liked it! =O So awesome! ^^

    I am very glad you're not too upset with me disliking the game. ^^ Hmm... to be honest, I should probably say more positive things about it. =O I guess what upset me so much was just that I'm so... inpatient, and I shouldn't blame a game for trying to tell you a story and guide you around... I'm going to update my intro either tonight or soon to make it not look like I want to burn the copy. =P It did have some awesome stuff in it too, like the Ghost Trial and the Fire one were awesome! >w< ♥ I so wanted the Ghost Trial girl in my party! >~<
