So question. I listen to metallica iron maiden and such but anything else that is good? I dont want anthing crazy like with screeching and all but something that i can understand and has the same smoothness both bands have. Does megadeath have all that?

Megadeth are similair to Metallica, because David Mustaine, the current lead vocalist of Megadeth, was originally in Metallica. However i prefer Megadeth, they perform better live, and their solo's are much better. Also, i think they're better lyrically as well.

Although i am going to defend Slipknot at this moment in time. They may be Nu-Metal, but if you look at their newer stuff, they're drifting away from their Nu-Metal Roots and are becoming more mainstream, which sucks anyway, because i think they were better when they did Self-Titled/Iowa.

Going back to azuman's comment, I hate going into HMV, and finding that My Chemical Romance (i like to call them My Chemical Re***ds) is in the Metal Section. I just want to pick them up, and transfer it over to the Rock/Pop Section. It makes me sick seing them there, mainly because they aren't Metal, they're EMO, because their lyrics are so dreary and depressing, and so's his voice. Even though they say there not EMO then you look at their hair, their image, and their music, it all comes back as EMO.

And i listen to a lot of growly, deathcore/grindcore/death metal stuff nowadays, such as Lamb of God, Cradle Of Filth, Suicide Silence, Waking The Cadaver, Job for a Cowboy, Whitechapel, Deicide etc..

But i do like all my non-screaming stuff, like Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, (i have all their studio albums now, yay :D) Down, System of a Down, Evile, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne etc.

Sorry, its a bit of a long winded post guys, but i had a lot to get across to you. :)

EDIT; Paul Gray and Joey Jordinson = God's!!!! :D

    I know, they're good aren't they.

When i first started listening to rock/metal, my first cherished bands were Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Alter Bridge (i recommend you listen to AB)

Now i love loads of bands and have 100 plus cd's.

I am open to all music, its just that this forms the largest part of my tastes.

I do as well. If its not that much screaming. Like i can take all the Metallica screaming and the screaming of system of a down. But if its crazy nonunderstandable screeching screams then i just turn down the volume and shake my head.

It's funny how my musical tastes progressed from hard rock/nu metal to metalcore/deathcore...I originally listened to a lot of Linkin Park/Godsmack/Disturbed, and then from there slowly got into much heavier stuff. All That Remains was the first metalcore band I really started liking, and then from there I found Avenged Sevenfold (not really metalcore anymore D:), As I Lay Dying, and a bunch of others. I recently started listening to August Burns Red, Bullet For My Valentine, Parkway Drive and Unearth, which are all excellent bands that I would recommend to anyone here.

the only band there which i haven't heard of is parkway drive
you should listen to Five Finger Death Punch, as mentioned earlier, they're awesome.

I quote from Metal Hammer Magazine "They sound like Pantera mud-wrestling with Slipknot"

    I have to agree

I delved into a little FFDP a while ago, but I really dislike the singers voice for some reason. His singing voice isn't the best, and his screaming is just ok. The Bleeding is a decent song though.

I like them, but I don't really listen to them. I'm just into more melodic metalcore stuff. I think I have a few Slipknot songs on my iPod (I know I have Before I Forget), but I think that might be it.

Well, at the end of the day, its everyone's individual music tastes, and its your choice what you like or don't like.

I like some dance music (*moves to defend himself from metal fans*)
but the largest part of my collection is metal, and that's what i love.

I want to go to the Download Festival, but i need to be escorted by a guardian, as i'm only 14. I only wanna go there to see slipknot and alter bridge. :(

I wish more people could say that instead of arguing about music tastes, so props to you ;D

Haha, don't worry, I like some dance/techno as well. I'm also a fan of classic rock =P

I'm a fan of classic rock also. Kudos to you.

I listen to Alice Cooper's breakfast show every morning (i live in the UK by the way) on PlanetRock.

I wish we had a dedicated Hard rock/Metal station though, like High Voltage which airs on internet radio, but on digital radio as well, that would be nice.

Do you like Lamb of God? They're Metalcore also.

I know right? Radio stations are much too mainstream nowadays. We need a radio station that plays metal 24/7. =P

I've heard of Lamb of God, never really listened to them though.
