"He-he asked me if-if I would always be at your side..." I said quietly.

Another person....
Karli. I reliezed.
Oh well, looks like I'm not needed here... Thinking this a bit more sadly, I jumped up, and did a dolphin kinda dive.
The result: A big splash, silver scales glinting for a couple seconds...
Ah well, I don't care if anyone saw me... I thought, hugging myself, curled up into a ball.

"i said I'll try" I said a little bit quieter.

Cassidy did not feel herself at all when she sat down at the Gryffindor table nex to Andrew. Her mother was on Andrew's other side. Feeling rather depressed, though she shoved it away as best she could like all her other emotions, she ate little, hoping she could just be invisible. She paryed her mother would not notice her.

"I brought your report cards with me," their mother said, pulling them out of her robes. "I wanted to see them with you two here."

She peeled the papers open, and smiled.

"Oh, Cassidy! Wonderful job, dear! I'm very impressed. You've done so well for someone who hasn't got a lot of initial magic power," her mother said. Cassidy's face turned pink as some Slytherins passed by, jeering. "Andy! Good marks, dear! Oh this really is fantastic!"

Their mother was beaming. Cassidy lay her head on her crossed arms on the table. She let out a breath, ignoring her mother's praise for Andrew, and hoping some of her friends would come in for dinner soon.

At last I decided to come up, and go back to the castle...
Swiftly, I made my way towards it, hoping no one would notice me, pausing sometimes and tracing a circle or two in the water.
FINALLY I just sat down near the lake, and looked at the ice, putting my head into my hands, and staring at the layer of white.

I rubbed my face and said, "You don't know what you've done." Suddenly frustration took hold of me, I then said with irritation in my voice, "Flame's going to hold you to your word. 'I'll try', is as good as saying 'Yes I will' to a dragon. Now if you don't keep your promise, yes that was a promise you agreed too. Anyway if you don't keep your promise you'll have to deal with the wraith of a dragon. You just got yourself into a problem I can't help you with." I then got quickly up and stomped out of the courtyard and into the great hall, luckily no one was in there, so I had the place to myself to grow even more angry with Karlis stupidity.

Whacking myself on the head, I realized it was late. Standing up, dripping with water, I ran back to the castle, to the GH, suddenly hungry.

Cassidy turned her head to see a fuming Johann. He looked like he saw no one else around him. She figured it must be because he was so angry. Walking over to him cautiously, she sat down next to him.

"Need an ear?" she asked solemnly.

Slowing my pace, I walked into the Great Hall, still dripping with water, giving me a 'watery' look, a dreamy look.
Noticing Johann and Cassidy, I walked over to them, trying to think of something witty or funny to say.

I watched Johann stomp away. I looked around quickly, and ran quickly into the Dark Forest. As I got deeper, I had a feeling someone or something was watching me. I stopped. I heard a growling sound. I stopped, looking around. I was terrified. It got darker and darker as I moved on. Then I could see a giant skinny werewolf in the distance. I gasped, as it stopped to sniff around. It lifted its head, and focused on me. I backed away.
"Just think..." I thought to myself. "This is not the most stupid thing I have done..."
I pulled out my wand, as it started to get nearer. I turned and ran. It started to run. I tripped over a log, but the werewolf jumped over me. I looked to see where it was going. It pounced on a rabbit, and ran away with it.
I didnt understand, I thought it had seen me. I got out of the forest, and ewnt down to the lake. Why hadnt the werewolf come after me? I wondered. I also wondered why Johann was angry with me.

I turned around and went to slap Cassidy, but I stopped 2 inches short of her when I realized who it was. "No. I don't know to talk to anyone, I just want to be left alone to think about my problems." I said to Cassidy. My voice was low and threatening but I kept it calmer than I thought I could.

I stopped in mid-smile, as I slightly overheard the conversation between the two.
Johann's voice sounded slightly threatening and....
No, nothing more. Leave them, Terra. You have nothing to do with them.
A icy, sudden, and yet musical voice said in my head.
Greeeeeeat. I bet I'm going paranoid, or crazy now. I thought as I walked away, placing my hands on the sides of my head.
No, you're not. This is your.... New..... Consience.
I stopped, wide eyed. I wasn't imagining this.

Cassidy sighed with a hint of disgust at Johann's actions and tone of voice. She had her arm up in the air, her fingers balled into a fist, ready to stop his attack, but after he stopped himself, she lowered it.

"I was only trying to help," she said simply, her voice apathetic, and walked away to sit back next to Andrew. Noticing Terra was about to speak to Johann, Cassidy caught her attention, and sent her a warning look that said "probably not a good idea to talk to him right now."

"Who was that, dear?" her mother asked, leaning behind Andrew to look at her.

"Johann," Cassidy said blankly, and took a sip of water.

"Oh...is he a friend of yours?" she asked.

"He isn't completely an enemy," she growled, and played with her mashed potatoes.

Her mother sighed and gave up, finishing the last few bites of her dinner.

"Well, Cassidy, Andrew has offered to show me the Quiddich field. I haven't seen it in so long!" she exclaimed longingly. "Do you want to come with us?"

"That's...all right," Cassidy assured her mother. "I've....got some work to do."

"Well, don't you think it's important to get your school work done first before you go swining that pole around?" her mother asked.

That definitely hit Cassidy the wrong way. Not only had she beenplanning on doing her school work, but the fact that her mother called her bo a "pole" sent her into a mood of anger, which she pushed aside. Getting up without a word, she left the Great Hall, and went to Gryffindor Tower, where she gathered her books, parchment, and quill, settled into her favorite chair by the fire, opened her book, and said nothing to anyone.

I'm going crazy!
No, you're-
I do NOT want to talk to you!
But you need me, they don't want-
No, I can use my heart to decide what-
Oh really?
Yeah.

The voice had now dissapeared, and had left me shaken to pieces.
This wasn't a imaginary voice.
It- NO! I'm- I'm-
Sitting down at the Gryffindor table, I closed my eyes, only seeing the cool darkness behind my closed lids.
"Ohhhh, what am I going to do?!"

Berii watched as Cassidy and Andrew walked thier mum inside the castle. When they disappeared from her sight, she stood up slowly and walked towards the lake, where the beautiful music was played earlier. In there she saw Karli, Johann, and Terra, diving in the lake. She did not wish to bother them but she was sensing a deep sadness and she wanted to find out who it was from. She fought her desire though and walked inside the Great Hall.

The forst person she saw was Cassidy, she couldn't understand what she was feeling but she thought it was either sadness or angriness. Before she could speak, she had already left.

"Cassidy..." she whispered to herself.

I again stomped out of the Great Hall and leaned on a wall near the Great Hall. Trying to find a spot to himself.

Meanwhile Flame flew to Karli's side and curled around her. I can answer both of your questions...if you answer one of mine. Flame said softly to Karli. Without her answering he continued, How do you feel about Johann? What are your true feelings toward him? Answer this and I'll answer your two questions

I opened my eyes.
No, I'm just being stupid... I think I'll skip eating, and go to the GCR.
Standing up, I ran out of the Hall....
Climbing through the portrait hole, I saw Cassidy-
Don't disturb her, Terra. You-
GO AWAY!
Poof. There it went again.

Cassidy looked up to see Terra climbing through the porthole. As usual, her face held no expression, and she returned to the paper she was working on.

"Hi, Terra," shea siad softly, not looking up from her work. She dotted an "i," and sighed with relief. Her paper for Transfiguration was out of the way. She turned back in Terra's direction. "You look like something is troubleing you. Can I do anything to help?"

Andrew, meanwhile, was finishing up his last few bites of food. His mother beamed proudly at him, and they got up from the table. Andrew waved to his friends at the table as they left the Great Hall, spotting Johann in the hallway. Deciding it was best to leave him alone, Andrew walked by without glancing at him. He was not going to start another problem with that kid.

"The Quiddich fields are really great," Andrew told his mother excitedly. They had bundled up to fight off the winter chill. The moon was beginning to rise as they made their way to the field. "Since I switched houses, I'm no longer on the Quiddich team, but Cassidy is. She does well."

"Well, I suppose so," his mother said, her voice a little tight. "I mean, it is quite a bit of a physical sport. Though I am a little suprised she could handle a broom so fast. I designed it to be easy to fly, but you know how Cassidy is."

Andrew winced, and came to a sudden realizaion. Through all the embarassment, scolding, unhappiness Andrew experienced with his father, he realized now that Cassidy felt the same way with their mother. He bit his lower lip, not sure what to do. They had entered the snow covered field, and sat down on a bench.

"You know, Cassidy does really well," Andrew said neutrally, not looking at his mother. Even though he was not looking, he could feel tension start to build. "She picked up Quiddich really quickly, and her grades are really good..."

Andrew decided to leave out the part about the deep chimeara induced scar on her side. His mother frowned.

"She's so bent on doing things the Muggle way," his mother said, tucking a stray, curly strand of hair behind her ear. "Gets that from Dad I suppose. But she's so blank all the time, and so tomboyish. I can't relate to her the way I want to. I never know how she's feeling, and it's all your father's fault!"

Andrew remained quiet. He knew his mother liked to have the last word. He never knew his mother was so unhappy with his father. It just didn't seem right, but he resigned to it quickly.

"Let's go inside," Andrew said softly. "It's getting cold out here."

Together they made their way back to Gryffindor Tower, to find Cassidy hard at work on her holiday homework.

"No- Well, there's this voi-"
Don't talk to her. Go finish your homework. You don't belong.
"I can if I want!" I yelled as I closed my eyes, and knelt down on the floor, trembling.
Child, this is what's best for you...... Don't-
"I know what's best for me!"
Oh, well: You'll have to learn the hard way. If you do disobey me again, then far worse things shall happen...
Pain. The next second, I was doubled over, gasping for air.
The colors. I opened my eyes, saw people, so many colors...
Then black swallowed me up.
