We're not talking about president right now....

Good one XD

Lets just let PC stay the way it is now... Because for me, PC is fine at its current ways...

I think that this thread has gone way off topic of the question. I think it needs to be closed or moved to the OT Forum.

It's just fine... if you guys talk about the President idea... then there is no reason to close this.

well... president... who is gonna ask someone about doing it? i mean, they prob wouldnt if membs voted, but i think we said that mods and higher were voting, since that makes more sense. but who is asking?

*backs up*
not me!

I forgot to PM the admins. >_>

Dear admins,

In the topic "Mods" an idea was brought up by one of our members. The idea was that PC should "celebrate" the upcoming presidential elections by holding it's own mock campaign, voting a member to the role of PC President. A vise president has also been thought of.

There has been discussion on what role the president plays, if the idea would go into action. A common idea is that the president would recieve a name color change, a title, and simple access to the mod lounge. It would give PC a democratic feel, as there would be someone with access to the lounge who had been voted for by the members, and not the senior staff.

It would be appreciated if one [or all of you] would be willing to comment in the thread and voice your opinion on the matter.

Thank you,
JKaizer

That's my PM.

Kwesi replied and said he liked the idea, but nothing to do with power. =/

And when did the admins are ever "democratic"? Heh the irony

That's exactly what Kwesi said... *hopes he doesn't mind me quoting him*
fortunatly PC isn't a domacracy, If it were im sure U'd have the admins ran out of office by now.

we're not, if we were u guys would have prolly throw us out already. meh... ya, it's a really neat idea. I did not, however, agree with letting the winner of the election have rights to the mod lounge. I feel that too much sensitive information is passed around in there. I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to have access to any of your private data.

Then why not just give the winner demimod powers? No ability to get into the mod lounge, but maybe the power to close or move a thread with the approval of a mod?

The personal mod powers? That's a maybe... but *shrugs* I dunno... that could tick off some mods if hte President kept opening their threads back up...

How's that different to what a member *should* be doing anyway?

Well the rule is Super Moderators + select moderators. If we were to give the winner of the pc president ?demi moderator? powers, I think it would be beneficial to get the approval of Smod + and that would kill the fun of the contest. It was my understanding that this ?promotion? to PC President was merely ceremonial and it?s only power would be bragging rights. If we were to go as far as to make a PC President a mini moderator, why not just make them a full moderator? ?.then... I guess the rules would change; now instead of moderator positions being selected, moderators can be won by just anyone.

It?s a very slippery slope. I would suggest keeping moderator powers out of the prize basket.

Well then, you could just give thew winner a small amount of power, and make them like a mod in training?

We can't guarentee a mod spot... Kwesi already said no. =/

So they'd get a title... a name change... and bragging rights. I guess that's enough...

Guess your right...there is allways the chance that someone that shouldent be a mod acutally won, then it's a good idea that you dont mod the person I guess.

Mod-in-training is pretty much mod. Even a computer lack-wit like me learned 3 out of the 7 or 8 functions a mod has, and those 3 functions are all you need to mod (the other 4 or 5 are so rarely used). It's just close, sticky and move. Nothing much to be practicing about. This contest thing shouldn't really be "mod election"... all you need is the brain of a moron and a personal fan club to be a mod? Nahh... If PC is sad enough to have members mistaking me and Latios Master to IP Ban him, then PC can be sad enough to "hire some fans" in order to win the election too, in order to be mod.

And it'll be even worst when the mod-in-training got "dejected" later... then it'll be even worst off than before in a way?

lol... if I won the contest, I'll rather have the right to edit signatures XD Choose a member, and tell someone capable of editing signatures to change it to the way you want (inserting a Trainer card with all Feebas or whatever)... lol. Endless possibilities!

(edited version of the signatures must still obey to all rules, of course, but all the possible fun~)
