Mom or Mum?

Mum, Mom, Mommy, what ever rolls off my tounge at the moment. Ya see, I can't always control what words I use >.>;

I use both but I always say mum. I don't know why. Habbit I picked up a few years ago. My mum calles her mom "ma" so I wanted something unique. Mum.
