Moments in the games which made you go... "eh?"

When I played Green version for the first time, I really didn't know what the guy meant... I was so puzzled, and in the end, I assumed he was the ingame characters father for some odd reason.

I was like 7 years old then.

I wouldn't feel too bad, kohei, it's disconcerting to see that at any age. Just creepy times ten.

Since I've been toting my Global Police thread, I'll say them next. Since they are a counter to Team Rocket and criminal organizations in general, why don't we see them be more proactive instead of arriving too little too late and let civilians do their dirty work when it should be theirs?

If you're going to make a counter to the criminals, use them, otherwise, why bother making it in the first place? Bah.

One time I went to go pick some berries from a ripe tree in Ruby version, but it said, "ORAN has sprouted. Would you like to WATER the ORAN?"

O.O

So, I checked again. "ORAN has sprouted. Would you like to WATER the ORAN?"

@.@

I checked once again, and my game kinda semi-froze. I went nuts when I saw the tree get all sparkly and then turn into a sprout...That's what happens when your game goes through the wash 8D

My games have gone threw the wash many times and they come out perfectly fine(even if they go through the dryer it still works)

On the other hand how does Oak get all the way from Pallet to Goldenrod each day to do his radio show?

I have several.

- When your rival in GSC tells you that his name 's "???" at the beginning. I know this is supposed to be so you can tell the policeman his name and the name will stick with him for the rest of the game, but it's still a little odd to me.

- In crystal version, I had run into Raikou. It started playing that different music, and I got really freaked out. I thought I'd found some kind of glitch pokemon or something for some reason. Then I saw it was Raikou and was a bit disappointed :(

- The endless daytime in RBY, and even more so in RSE (especially since they DID have time there, but no day and night). Doesn't the sun ever set? @_@

- In Crystal, there's a guy near the lake of rage named "Pokemaniac Brent" who is obsessed with Bill. After you defeat him, he even asks you for your phone number so he can call you specifically to give you random facts about Bill. What, does he stalk Bill or something? (This is especially weird since I know a guy named Brent XD)

- In RBY, when you try to use an item that you can't/aren't supposed to use at the time, Oak pops up from out of nowhere and tells you not to use it. Is Oak stalking you? I hope he doesn't have a list of people to call and tell random facts about you like that other guy o.o The "Dad's advice" bit in RSE makes a lot more sense.

- When people call you, they don't even let you talk! They just keep going on and on about how they *ALMOST* caught that weedle and then hang up! Rude D:

- What people say in the Pokenav, especially in Emerald. Most of it is only funny/weird if you have a sick mind like my friends and I though XDDD.

- That "Places and People" show on GSC. Again, stalkers. And once I was listening to that station and the person said "Leader Pryce is just my type". o.o;;;

And I can probably think of more later.

Your observations really amuse, Chiru.

My turn yet again.

Why doesn't Elm or Birch get around as Oak does? I know Oak is the authority but these two could put more effort into getting around (at least Birch is there as you beat the Elite Four, Elm wasn't there at all and he lives in your hometown! Jeez, manners) and be more second best authority and at least not be so nameless and essentially be your exposition starter and be off with you.

Just augh. Show more characterization. You made these characters for a reason, and not be plot devices, which is what these guys are as you think about really.

When Golbat used Haze, and it cured my Venasaur's confusion.

Of course, this was in my Green version (I think they fixed it in the English version though :( ).

Funny bug this was. It was stranger than the bug where Toxic will make Leech Seed stronger.

My turn.

Considering the anime does an interesting job of having Pokemon talk, why don't the games have a plotpoint (a Legendary, a special Pokemon) in which one of the critters talks? That would be more interesting hearing them talk than the trainers of the Gym. Just annoys me.

Speaking of talking Pokemon, notice how the Meowths in Yellow all stand up like Team Rocket's Meowth? Good God, that's lazy.

In RSE, Steven has picture books on that little shelf in the upper right corner of his house. That brings to mind an image of him sitting at a table, stumbling over the words in a first grade level book. Hahaha. Steven fans can throw bricks at me now.

You know how if you capture a Legendary, unbalance in nature is made. The world falls apart, yet when you capture one in the games, nothing bad happens to you or the world.

What's up with that? At least the anime makes that realistic but still...you can't say that if you didn't capture Lugia or Ho-Oh that there wouldn't be consequences. Bah.

whenever an in-game pokemon KOs one of my pokes.

After playing Yellow for the first time some odd years ago I finished the game and always wondered this...
Isn't it amazing how out of all the trainers out there you are the one and only one to catch all the legendaries that are in the games? <<

And about Mewtwo. If this Pok?mon was created and not born then why the hell when you catch it does it have information in the Pok?dex? Don't very little people know of its existance? That always seemed to surprise me.

-Why are the proffessers all named after trees?
-Why on FR/LG and all the oldies, does it say "its a rare pokemon, Aww...its just a doll..." to a clefairy doll?????
-How does a bike fit in bag?

It's a FOLDABLE bike. It says so if you look at the inscription.

Whenever my Charizard fights on water...that always boggled me.

And also (this has nothing to do with Pokemon, but it still is strange) the editors of Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town did not do a very good job of translating. Whenever I talk to this one guy for the first time in the day, instead of English there are Japanese characters...Oi, did they miss something!

(Back to Pokemon)
Whenever you play the game (not counting R/S/E) you are always with your mother, and there's no father in sight! WHO THE HECK IS YOUR FATHER IN THE GAME? WHY IS THERE NO FATHER IN THE GAME? And even IN R/S/E, your father runs a Gym so he's never home until the end of the game. Do the creators of Pokemon not like having the characters have a known father...?

I think the sexual innendos that come with the Fishing Rods. Oy...could have planned that better.
There is obvious sexual innuendo for "Gold Nigget" in Japanese, since in the Japanese version of Pokemon, Gold Nuggets are called "Gold Balls".

Yes, you heard me right, "Gold Balls".

And to think in Japanese, Golden Balls means testicles...

I could lived without seeing that. Hehe.

My turn again, why do the Rocket Grunts in R/B/Y have whips? Just to train their Pokemon in shape for their opponents? Always bugged me.

I remember loaning my Red version to a friend, and when I got it back, all my boxes were filled with Doduo's named "dodo"

That's just your friend being weird, this thread is more game mechanics by themselves and you kinda have to question their logic with said mechanics here. Just on the game itself.

To get back on topic, why is when you talk in the game, the dialogue comes out as dots? Is the game that afraid of you developing a personality? Or say something stupid?

Talk about being a blob.

In G/S/C (I think that those are the right games) the team rocket member who stole the machine part, he's obviously foriegn, bad English.....

Oh, and the fact that almost every house has a shelf with picture books.

Also, the guy who gives you advice at the gyms near the entrance, how is he always at the gym of the city I'm in....or are there a bunch of clones?
