Suggestion: More contact handles? (Ex. Tumblr and Instagram)

What I mean is well... we already have one for Twitter. There's also a lot of people that use Tumblr as well for an example. So, I thought maybe we could have some more fields for those sorts of things. Tumblr would be a very good example. Instagram is another that I'm sure people on here use as well. I also think there could be one for Facebook too just in case people want to add others from PC to Facebook or something (like me lol).

So, yeah... is there anyway of adding things for Tumblr and Instagram the same way there is for Twitter as well? I'm trying to make as much sense here as I possibly can... you know what I mean, though right? D:

My last idea was really good so... let's hope I have good luck with this one too!

a catch-all flavors.me field would be cool for those of us that don't want to put all of our individual facets in the respective fields. 8)

This sounds like a good idea to me. Although using/making new directories, like the ones in VG and T&I, could also be an option.

But I have to admit that looking at a users post or profile is probably faster/easier.

While looking at postbit is probably more convenient (and maybe safer?) than directory listings, don't you think too many listings for networks would clog up the postbit? That's how I see it.

I'm not shunning the idea, but I think it might be a little too much for the postbit; maybe if a user really wanted to share their social network handles, the signature could be a good place?

An easy solution would be to allow say ten different handles from people to choose from - ranging from gaming to social networking - but only five can be displayed in the postbit. This way the postbit isn't stretched, the user sets priority to what handles they want displayed, and the rest could be displayed in the user's profile if other members want to see if the user has any other handles.

Why don't we allow a few user-customizable fields that allow us to not only specify WHAT network/site/place it is along with the information?

    Ex:
    Code:
    Site/Network UserID/Data
    Reddit {[/u/]/[/r/]/[/m/]}[UserName/(UserName/Multi)SubredditName]
    Facebook First Last
    Tumblr Tumblr1234
    SomeForum UserName
    SomeWebsite http(s)://www.some.website/Profile/PageURI234

I imagine it wouldn't be hard to provide two or three fields that let you specify the site and the user profile. So you could even have a third field (BaseURL) that is optional which specifies the data field contains the parameters necessary to call up the profile page of a specific user. (See my reddit example which shows various ways one can append a /u/ (User), /r/ (Subreddit) or, /m/ (Collection of subreddits, user curated) to provide a link to places you might be contacted on.

A reddit field which might look like this in the edit view:
    Code:
    Site Data Base URL
    Reddit /u/User_Name_Here https://www.reddit.com
would render to something like this:
    Code:
    Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/u/User_Name_Here
as a clickable link on the profile, perhaps in the About Me section.

I don't think it'd be too hard to make sure that the rule is to remove this field if people are using it inappropriately. This would definitely make it less of a hassle to worry about adding sites to the profiles as fields, and it'd basically allow us to specify whatever network we chose. I for one use several, Google+ and Ello being two such examples which PC doesn't seem to support by default, and I'd like to be able to link to them.

As for the number; we could start off as a standard user who has 2-3 of these "Empty Social Networking" fields and scale the number up based on group; give supporters like 5, and higher tiers up to 10 or 15, and allow staff to basically have as many as reasonably possible.

Or if all else fails; we can just standardize it to like 5 or 10 of these empty blocks for various social networking identity sharing. If you want; you could even have a thread where users can ask for specific sites to be added and reviewed by the staff to be added to a drop down list if spam or abuse is an issue.
