Hold up. Can we all just agree for a sec that Team Rocket was probably the cruelest organization of them all?

Melond - Today at 3:33 AM
    It is.
Let's take a look at it and all the other organisations in the Pokemon World.(edited)

aurora - Today at 3:34 AM
i would argue either galactic or flare
wanting the entire world to be destroyed > equivalent of pokemon mafia

cyrus - Today at 3:35 AM
    galactic did not wanted that
they wanted a world wait ima google it so hard to exsplain lol

Theta - Today at 3:36 AM
I disagree, but here's why. Rocket launched personal attacks, caused vandalism, and terrorized citizens...with NO PURPOSE other than money.

cyrus - Today at 3:37 AM
he wanted to create a world without spirit

Theta - Today at 3:37 AM
The other teams had skewed "cult-like" morals ingrained into them along with a set of beliefs that they were causing change

cyrus - Today at 3:37 AM
    only ting was
to make that happen he needed to destroy the other one
    but giratina interfered

Melond - Today at 3:37 AM
    Team Rocket is the cruelest.

cyrus - Today at 3:38 AM
and showed him his world and he found what he was looking for

Theta - Today at 3:39 AM
So in a way almost all the other teams felt they were doing some sort of "right" in the world. Rocket lacks that entirely.

    discuss?

ooh hell that is a VERY good point
i guess maybe i would say personally-- which team managed to bring the greatest amount of pain to the greatest amount of people and pokemon? like, some teams may have had crueler intentions, but which was the most successfully horrible?

I love this topic cause all of the teams are so uniquely bad that your opinion of who's the worst would probably be based on your OWN morals

I feel each team has a motive that makes this great debate interesting.

But as Aquacorde said, if I had to choose who had the cruelest intentions it was probably the Aether Foundation. Lusamine was hands-down one of the most twisted characters in Pokemon history, because she became obsessed with wanting to catch the Ultra Beast Nihilego, to the point she was able to hurt Pokemon so badly. This is shown when you see Pokemon such as Pikachu, Slowpoke and Pyukumuku frozen in the ice.

She even claimed to have disowned her own kids Lillie and Gladion, which explained why they ran away from her. I have a love-hate relationship with my own mother and it makes me think of Lusamine's relationship with Lillie.

This is very true, but I don't feel like Aether in of itself was so bad. I'm pretty sure the employees only knew a fraction of what was actually going on and were mostly kind and helpful to pokemon. Remember, you were technically informally recruited by Aether.

Lusamine, however is absolutely horrid. I definitely see her as one of the most twisted, interesting villains I've seen in a long time. However, I'm not judging the entire teams based on the leader. No matter how horrid the leader may be.

My logic for picking Team Rocket, again, is motive. All the other teams in some forms believe they are going to cause a change in the world. Most of the teams even believe they're doing it for the good of humanity/pokemon/whatever. They all have somewhat "cult-instilled" mentalities from their respective leaders. THIS is where Rocket comes up short. Rocket explicitly lacks this quality. They're bad, they KNOW they're bad, they've murdered pokemon, they've destroyed homes, kidnapped people, and granted that doesn't seem as bad as destroying the world and everything on it, the fact is that they're doing it for no reason other than money. They have no motive, no specific set of beliefs; it's a mindless grab at money or whatever else they want, no matter how small, at ANY expense. They exist solely to terrorize, not to actually DO anything. That's why I say Rocket.

Team Rocket: Using Pokemon for their own personal gains (Mafia equivalent)

Team Aqua/Magma: Expand water/ground level for Pokemon. (National Geographic gone extreme))

Team Galactic: Recreate the Pokemon World (Big Bang Version 2.0)

Team Free Pokemon from captivity (Ghetsis wanting to rule the Pokemon World as the only one with Pokemon) (PETA/selfish king)

Team Flare: Wanting to create a 'beautiful and better world' by commiting mass genocide on the Pokemon species so that they would not be used as tools of war. (Hitler equivalent)

Team Skull: Steal Pokemon and cause trouble (street hoodlums)

In my opinion, Team Flare would have the more devastating agenda. eliminating anyone that is not part of Team Flare. Both humans and Pokemon. Team Rocket would probably be the 'cruelest' in the terms of how they use and treat Pokemon, but Team Flare's idea of genocide would be the ideology with the most impact.

I agree with you on that. However most of Team flare save for Lysandre was incredibly incompetent. It was almost like they really didn't understand the grand scheme he had created

You do have a point indeed, because while Team Flare seem to be hated a lot, they are not to be underestimated. When I was playing X/Y I remember seeing how their plot unfolded. While they have some weird uniforms, they are deep down incredibly heartless with their plot to kill anyone not part of their organization, which is essentially genocide.

It also doesn't help that Lysandre is pure evil himself, to me he's pretty much the Pokemon universe's Hitler.

Yea, they only paid to get in and that's pretty much it. After that they weren't really sure about what else they were doing, lmao. Same with Galactic, some of them knew they were going to make the world better but didn't know how. And some didn't even know what Cyrus was even planning and just going along with what they were told to do.

I think the intentions of the bosses often get lost along the line, so much to the point where there's a legit seperation between what the boss wants to do and what the members are up to. Like I don't think they're even in it for the same reason as the boss usually?

See I agree with that assessment absolutely. I wonder though if we can qualify Galactic as the most cruel team, since they aren't really a cohesive unit? Yeah, Cyrus is the worst ever, but Galactic as a whole- are they more cruel than the others?
