In recent games (Gen V and Gen VI), some of the music has had certain feels of certain eras. For example some music sounded very 80s-ish (Gen V's surf theme, Gen VI's bike them and Gen VI's PokéFan encounter theme), while some music from Gen V had a 50's feel to it (The Clerk and Worker encounter theme and Gear Station had a 50s feel to it).

As Alola is based in Hawaii, we will hear some Hawaiian based music (like how we heard some French based music in Kalos), but do you think they'll take us give us a taste of a certain era with Sun and Moon's music?

I think we'll get quite laid back, relaxing music throughout Alola. I'm excited to listen to the soundtrack of this region and I feel Game Freak will do a great job bringing the tropical nature of Alola to our ears :)

I think the music will be more calming and relaxing to fix the island theme. It would make sense for the soundtracks to resonate with the Hawaiian vibes using instruments such as Ukuleles and Steel Drums.

Like Blue said, I think the music will mainly try to capture the theme of Alola. So I am hoping for some Hawaiian-themed sounds in the new OST.

I'm still hoping for a Pokemon game with double bass drums, growl-like vocals, and shrill guitar solos! Yeah, that's never going to happen...

Realistically, there will be lots of ukuleles. Also, I envision hearing the sound of crashing waves often.

I agree with this as well. I think many people are upset though after hearing some of the music like the rival theme( I read a bunch of comments on the youtube page of the rival battle. They are not pretty.) But, I feel that gamefreak wants a to take a different step in their music. After all, not all of the music that comes from a generation has to be cool or edgy. Like, I love cool battle themes such as Red's battle theme, but it's been shown that gamefreak can make decent themes when experimenting a bit more ( such as Iris' battle theme).

I dunno...I feel that if we continue to pile on the cool music, eventually people will feel burnt out? I don't mind having epic music, but I feel that for a new generation they should mix it up a little. It keeps things from becoming too stale. Plus, good music takes time and can be difficult to make.

On a side note, being Jamaican, having steel drums would make me cry ;-; I would LOVE love love to see how they'd experiment with that. Especially since we can have actual music on the 3ds now.

I just hope it isn't horrid techno/electronic music like so much of X and Y's music was.
