Hey all, LadyGaga has given me permission to run the Kanto Monotype Challenge. I didn't go through all of the challengers because before like the first page, there is like a three month period since the last post. I'm assuming that these people aren't going to finish the challenge; if you are one of those people and do wish to finish the challenge, just post your updated status and I'll add you back in. Also, if you have finished the challenge and I have left you out of the Champion list, PM me and I'll add you.

    Now for rules:
    1. The challenge is over once you beat the elite four one time and catch Mewtwo.
    2. You may only use Pokemon of one type.
    3. Dual types are allowed, and count toward a Monotype Challenge of either type. For example: if you are doing a Fire Monotype Challenge, it is okay to have a Charizard, which is part fire and part flying. If you are doing a Flying Monotype Challenge, it is also okay to have a Charizard, because he, once again, is part fire and part flying. Also, you may use a Pokemon that later evolves into a Pokemon with your type. Once again, if you are doing a Flying type run, you may use Charmander, because it evolves into Charizard, which is part Flying. This does not work the other way around, though. If you are doing a Normal type Challenge, and have an Eevee, you may not evolve it into a Jolteon, claiming that one of the evolutions was Normal.
    4. You must catch the first Pokemon of your type before you challenge Lt. Surge, enter Diglett's cave, or enter Rock Tunnel.
    5. You may have up to 3 HM slaves on your team.
    6. No legendaries.
    7. You may use an emulator, and the speed button, but don't use the emulator to cheat.
    8. Multiple people may do the same type.
    9. If you cannot obtain a Pokemon of your type before the requirement, you may either trade an egg from another game, trade a level 5 Pokemon or below from another game, or (if you are using an emulator) shark in a low level Pokemon of your type at the very beginning of the game. Make it reasonable, though. If you are doing a Steel type challenge, don't put in an Aggron, Skarmory, Steelix, Metagross or anything like that. Put in like an Aron.
    10. No trading, unless you are evolving a Pokemon.
    11. Update regularly.
    12. This isn't a race. Take your time and have fun.

And I think that's all the rules. Now, here is where you, the challenger, should see your name, unless you have beaten the game, in which case you will see your name under "champion"

    My Bug journey begins...

First things first... I need a Bug pokemon! Caterpie > Butterfree was the obvious choice for me and thanks to the low evolution levels for Bug types it didn't take too long...
I then decided I wanted a Beedrill, mostly because I've never used one before. Again, thanks to the genius of Bugs it didn't take too long to level up a weedle! :)

    Testing my new companions...
    Spoiler:

After rinsing and repeating against Green's charmander I had more confidence in my new bug pals and pressed on through Viridian forest and challenged Brock for his Boulder Badge!

    Obtaining the Boulder Badge...
    Spoiler:

After obtaining my first badge I pushed on through Mt. moon...

    Spoiler:

    Spoiler:

    Obtaining the Cascade Badge...
    Spoiler:

And that's the end of this update! :)

    Current Team:
    Butterfree Lvl 26
    -Confusion
    -Sleep Powder
    -Supersonic
    -Tackle
    Beedrill Lvl 23
    -Twineedle
    -Fury Attack
    -Poison Sting
    -Harden

Right, I think I'll try this.
I'll do the water type one, using firered.

    Update:
-I picked Squirtle, battled Gary and won.
-Grinded Squirtle to level 12, battled Gary again and won.
    -Went through Viridian Forest.
-Faced the gym trainer in Pewter Gym, squirtle evolved :)
-Defeated Brock with ease, leaving wartortle at level 17.
-Battled all the trainers before Mt Moon with wartortle now at level 19.

    Update #2:
-Bought an 'outrageous' Magikarp from the creep in the pokemon centre, and slowly grinded him to level 12 (All I could face :l)
-Went through all of Mt Moon, ending with Magikarp at level 15 (Now knowing tackle, yey) and Wartortle at level 22.
-Taught Wartortle mega punch from one of the kung-fu freaks before training Magikarp to level 20.
-Magikarp evolved at last into Gyarados :)
-Battled through the Cerulean gym, beating Misty easily with a couple of bites to Staryu and a couple to Starmie using my lovely Gyarados.
-Battled all the nugget bridge trainers with ease, and all of the random people before Bill's house, leaving both Wartortle and Gyarados at level 24.

    Update #3:
-Reached Vermillion City, battled through the SS. Anne and rubbed, yes rubbed the captains back, much to his pleasure as he gives you the move cut.
-Caught a random HM slave bellsprout, taught it cut.
-Fought through the gym trainers in the vermillion gym.
-Faced Lt Surge, and failed, so I've decided to leave the 3rd gym for now and return back to it once I get more water pokemon to whoop him with later.
-Went through the overly long diglett cave, got flash and went back to Cerulean and headed for Rock Tunnel, still with only 2 water pokemon; Wartortle (level 27) & Gyarados (level 26).

    Update #4:
    -Finished with the Rock Tunnel.
-Headed straight for Celadon City to go to the games corner.
-Worked pretty hard at getting coins (along with picking them up off the floor, shame on me).
-bought the Flamethrower TM from the game corner prizes place.
-Taught Flamethrower to Gyarados so I have a chance of beating the gym. :)
-Before going in, spotted the old, nice man peering in the gym window, admiring the "beauty" of the "girls" O.O eek!
-So, I fought Erika with Gyarados' amazing flamethrower, beat victreebel in 2 shots, tangela in 1 and vileplume in 1 critical hit shot. :D Onwards I go..

    Team now:
    Wartortle: Level 35
Gyarados: Level 31 Should hopefully find more water pokemon soon.

Beat the team rocket basement and made my way to route 13 i believe, (Where i caught myself a venonat!), I started to train it on the cycling road since it has confusion and all the pokemon there are poison type! My team as it stands at the bottom of cycling road.

    Venomoth 37
    Venusaur 36
    Nidoqueen 36
    Nidoking 36
    Golbat 36

Will be looking at fishing for a tentacool as soon as i can surf after my 5th badge.

    Arrived at Kogas gym,

After destroying him with Venomoth and Psychic spam, I obtained Toxic from him and taught it to Venusaur,

My team after My 5th badge!

    Venomoth 38
    Venuaur 37
    Nidoqueen 38
    Golbat 37
    Nidoking 37

After surfing around for a bit i eventually found myself a tentacool lvl 29 am going to grind it to lvl 40 with everything else before i continue my journey!
