Apparently, then, there will be a struggle between the alt-right and the libertarian-minded for the future of the conservative movement in America.
There already is a struggle. Many libertarians vehemently opposed the Alt-Right and the Alt-Right labels many libertarians as cultural leftists, libertines, etc. There is, however, a group of libertarians called paleolibertarians that have sided with the Alt-Right. And with Gary Johnson being the LP nominee, more and more libertarians are going paleo, but at the same time, there have been a lot of leftist "invaders" into the LP.
In my personal opinion, the libertarians are going to kill themselves off unless they join the Alt-Right. Its been noted by many different people that the libertarians have terrible ideas for achieving libertarianism and many of their policies are self-destructive in the long run. Murray Rothbard, one of the founding fathers of libertarians, has written extensively on this topic- criticizing libertarians for their lackluster and terrible Hayekian Model of achieving libertarianism.
Outside of the LP, if more and more liberal politicians win office, libertarianism is just going to die out completely. Mostly because of voting patterns of immigrants with the open border policies of liberal politicians. If the LP doesnt kill itself, it will die out unless they join the Alt-Right. If the LP dies out, i believe the Alt-Right is going to be the future of right-wing politics with the religious and conservative right falling out of popularity.
