News: New Pokemon - Turtonator

What if Turtonator is actually the evolution of Torkoal ???

I think based on what you said, Turtonator will likely either have a pre-evolution or be stand-alone. I think that when Mudsdale and Bewear were first revealed people speculated them to be stand-alones but both have since confirmed to have pre-evolutions.
 
Idk, I think Turtonator will have a different case. If they're going to have a few stand-alone Pokemon like they do for every generation, then I'd say Turtonator will be one of them. It seems to fit the bill and it reminds me of Druddigon which happens to be a stand-alone Pokemon. Bewear and Mudsbray have pre-evos that are much easier to imagine, Turtonator on the other hand is one I couldn't really picture a pre-evo for.

I don't mind if Turtonator happens to be one of the pseudo-legends( I mean- to me it could be a pseudo) but I find it very Druggidon-typish in my honest opinion, so I can't be for certain. I get what you mean by expecting a bit more from the pseudo-legend Pokemon. I don't want another Garhompish Pokemon, but I want it to be a little better.

Plus, Pseudos from what I know have never been released before the game's release date. Sun and Moon could be the end to that( after all we don't have gyms) but anything goes. I kinda hope not though because I don't want half of the Pokedex revealed to me like X and Y did.

I feel Turtonator will be a Druddigon-like Pokemon, since pseudo-legendaries are usually held off from official reveal until after game release, as Ducolamia pointed out.
 
Main question : How did a Turtle got classify as a Dragon ???
 
There's been a few strange typings, particularly for Sun & Moon. I think they're just trying to mix up the combinations by introducing some new dual typings that haven't been used on regular Pokemon before.

It's based on the Dragon Turtle, which is a creature in Chinese mythology along with also being based on the freshwater-dwelling Mata Mata Turtle.

Anyways, it is really awesome seeing so many unique type combinations in this generation. I love it when Game Freak focus on that since it adds so much new potential for the types and what they can be related to.
 
Well, we have mythology to think about and that's where some Dragon-types are based on stuff you wouldn't usually associate with the type.
