4th Gen new prof.

I think a female professor should be next anyways. Just having male professors brings up sexist issues and we don't want THAT in a Pokemon game...

Maple or Palm sound good, though.

Oh, and if Gary were a professor, he'd still be professor Oak... -.-
 
We've had a female professor, in the TV show at least...
 
Professor Ivy was only in the Orange Islands.
There is a female Professor in Pokemon XD : Gale of Darkness, I believe... Can't be sure, I haven't done my research lately.
Still, it would be VERY refreshing to see a female professor play such an important role as Oak, Elm, and Birch.
 
Yes, I guess so. It'd be very different though.

It would be funny if you played as a kid whose parents were divorced, and your dad was hitting on the female professor. I guess that could be construed as sexist though.
 
If it's a female Professor, I suppose she could be called Professor Holly. Otherwise...*begin rant*...Yew, Willow, Tupelo, Fig, Fir, or Ash even.

Fig, Yew, Fir. <3 They match the tree rule and maybe the one syllable rule.
 
Hah. That'd be hilarious. And not quite sexist... unless you bring up the issue of homosexuality. I won't even get into that. ^^;

In every game, though, Mom has always played that vital part in introducing you to the world anyways. What about Dad, huh? O.o Maybe Mom should be famous and Dad should be there to save your money and stuff. :P

That gives me an idea, though. If there is a female professor, it could be the main character's mother. *wink wink* I think more real-life situations should be put into the games... for instance, divorces and rivalries and whatnot. Nothing is supposed to be THAT happy, come on.

This may not be the right place to bring it up, but I think the Pokemon game maturity level should be extended a bit more. We all get bored of the constant catch-em-all blahblah, so maybe there should be alternate quests. Turn Pokemon into a T - Rated game, and you could even have relationships with the characters in the game. Sure, it's sappy and a touch girlish to add dating, but with the addition of breeding in Silver/Gold/Crystal, this topic was bound to come up, right? I mean, it's Pokemon having sex... who'd be so dull as to not realize that? That isn't to say we should just make Pokemon an adult game and let the main character do it, that's just plain... well, anyways, that's what I think. Add a touch of... oh, I don't know, a dating sim or something. Those are always fun. :P

Ehh, remember that Pokemon is still a game targeted at kiddies ^^;
 
They should make two versions. One for the kiddies and one for the teens.

The games don't follow the anime though (exculding Yellow) the anime uses the games as a rough outline for story progression etc. So don't expect to see that happening.

IMO, Prof Palm seems like the most feasible name. Pine is just too obvious. I do like the Willow and Holly names for the Prof though, especially if it's a female.

I like that Professior Evergreen Idea. That's a unique name but it also sounds like a real persons names. Example. Ash Says "Hey Professor Evergreen, whats up?"
Evergreen Replies "Hey Ash Nothing much, You?"...

see Evergreen sounds normal. not like maple...

But Proffesor Gary sounds cool. I get to see him rarely on pokemon games and He might want to battle the hero with his pokemon that he had from Kanto!

Professor Gary would just be called Professor Oak. >_> It goes by their last name. Professor Oak's first name is Samuel, not Oak.
 
Professor Holly would be really nice for a female Professor... This is strange, now we're going into which tree's name sounds masculine and feminine XD
