Since dark type represents "evil" more than actual darkness per se, it actually makes sense that the legends aren't light and dark. To be a true counterpart of Dark type, Light type would have to represent goodness and purity. However, in a Yin-Yang, neither side is better than the other and both are needed for balance. It is a far cry from the concept of good vs. evil. The naturalism vs. industrialism that fire vs. electric represents fits the symbolism of the Yin-Yang much better. Thus, although a light type is unlikely, the fact that Reshiram is not Light type has no bearing whatsoever on its inclusion.
I actually wouldn't mind a light type, but I won't be too disappointed if it never showed up. I do think it would be relatively easy to add without unbalancing the game or making it any more complicated than it already is, though.
I'm going back to read the rest of the thread now, but I just had to quote this because I agree with absolutely everything you've posted. Idk why but it's like everyone believes Ram-chin could have been a Light-type simply because of it's color, or that there absolutely has to be a mascot to represent this new type. Both are erroneous assumptions.
Nevertheless, I'm going to officially withhold my position on whether or not there will be a new type until the 13th movie airs in July. My doubts are high but who knows, the movie just may be what they're waiting for.
As for the Magnet-type, I think that's already covered by the Steel- and Electric-types. Most natural magnets are some kind of metal and you can magnetize things via electricity. A Magnet-type would be redundant. ._. But the same could be said for the Rock- and Ground-types, so... hmmm.... Looking at it that way, a Magnet-type doesn't sound as bad. xD
