    Does this go here?

So with the release of the Wii a while ago and the advances that it made.
Whats your thoughts of the next?

Wii HD, is it real? is this what you want?
    and a bunch to discuss.

    Wii HD!?!

    Oh my god..

What the hell is wrong with Nintendo?

They make pointless remakes of game systems!

    (Ex. 3DS,Nintendo DSi XL)

AND NOW A WII THAT IS IN HD!?

Wow..Everybody is getting obsessed with HD..

I don't think there is going to be a next generation console for a while.
It is being replaced by the motion add-ons from Microsoft and Sony.

If Nintendo make one, I am pretty sure it will be a flop.

Until we hear word from Nintendo that it's legit, I don't really care. There's no point in wasting my time over something that could or could not exist.

Lol, I love how everyone says "DSi XL IS POINTLESS!!!111" when they forget the DSi itself is pointless.

Who the heck needs a camera on their DS? You've got one on your phone, you've got one on your laptop, you don't need one on your handheld gaming console!

DSi isn't pointless, DSi XL isn't pointless, 3DS isn't pointless, they're all AWESOME!!(at least to me)
But DS Lite is best because you can still play GBA on it!!(at least to me)

The DSi is pointless if you have a DS Lite. But if you don't have a DS Lite then the DSi is not a bad idea. Also, don't forget there's also DSi games that you can download onto the DSi. Maybe for you that's not useful, but it may be for other people.

And not all people have cameras on their cell phones. And taking your laptop out to take pictures is impractical. Besides all that, the Japanese are really big into that sort of thing, and the Japanese is Nintendo's primary user base, so Japan is going to care more to them than to the US or any other country.

i completely agree with you, but i thought this was a thread about a home console.
what i would like to see in the next gen console:
trophies - the wii is the only console that doesnt hav it. and it makes me keep on playing on the same game which is good
better graphics - like alot. i know nintendo are trying to focus on gameplay over visuals, but it just doesnt cut it anymore. sometimes i get put off by games if they dont hav nice visuals, coz it just seems like a normal requirement and ruins the game a bit.

Maybe you're just too new. Comparatively, the Nintendo Wii graphics aren't the best, but, seriously, if you reckon it ruins the game, don't play it.

Can't you have a console called "Wii HD" that's more than the original Wii with HD output? Why can't it be more powerful? Or support different games? Have new capabilities and features? Why can't it be an actual successor? Its going to happen eventually. And this hasn't even been announced anyway.

It's like saying "they make pointless remakes of game systems!" for the Super Nintendo VS the original Nintendo. Or the same for the Game Boy Advance VS what came before it.

These are brands. They should share the same name.

Oh the Xbox 360. You're so useless. You're so 360ish.

i dont see what else they could do in this time space it like a 10-15 year gap in advance of gaming technolagy so the Wii Hd will probbly be 3D or something along the lines of that cause thats were we going towards

I (personally) doubt that there will be such thing as a Wii HD. It's just a rumor.
Plus, I never even heard of the rumor until I read this thread.
From what I can tell (and my older brother thinks the same thing), Nintendo will try to hold onto the Wii for as long as they can. Unlike the systems before, this one is quite revolutionary. Most systems in the past usually last for about 5 years or so. The Wii has so far lasted for about 3 and a half years, and I believe it won't die out for another 2 years, at the least.
As for what I think the next console should be...to be honest, I can't really think of anything that would be an excellent idea. The Wii is already very good as it is right now.
In simple words, I think it's a little early to think of what the next generation is going to be.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I don't usually buy the upgraded versions of consoles(that is, unless it is a complete revamp.) Nintendo is the worst with it, like DS, then DSlite, and now the DSi and DSi xL. Also, wasn't the point of the DSlite to make their console smaller? Because... by making a DSi xL, they've basically contradicted themselves.

The XL is for home users mostly, it isn't exactly a thing that fits in a pocket. DS Lite is perfect for buses or trains.

I actually think the DSi is pretty useful, for me anyway, though if my original ds' touch screen hadn't broke, I wouldn't of gotten it. The Dsi xL is more for people who use it for internet. Which is good for them, because the dsi's internet is so annoying on that screen!

But, I doubt this HD stuff is true. The wii's pretty good imo, and there's not much more that they can do. Eventually probably a 3D system, but I think the wii will be around for another while.

The Wii HD is supposedly real; I found a source on a French site but I'll have to root through my VMs with Forever to find it.

Apparently the Wii HD is coming out in 2011 - just in time for the new Zelda game which, I presume, will be in HD << I want a home-console Pokemon game, though ):
