I posted some of my E3 impressions at my LJ:
Nintendo Classic Shell: It's ugly and too generic. I thought the whole point of how the Wii Remote looks was because they wanted something that could play all of the old games (via the Virtual Console). Even the Wii Remote looks a bit like a NES Controller. Why does this shell have two analog sticks? Out of all the system that are to be emulated on the Virtual Console, only the N64 used one. I said, "one". Not two. Why does it have two? None of the games used two! O_o Nintendo is probably including this whole Virtual Console idea because they are so against piracy. But the controller is just so darn generic! You could download all the emulators and ROMs you need for free (because we all know we're going to have to pay for these games. I really hope if you can prove that you already own the games you'll get it for free or at a cheaper price) and buy an equally generic contoller. @@ I hope we can use the GCN controller instead.
Wii Remote: Based on what I've read, they've got to work on this. It's too sensitive. Red Steel apparently is awful to play, something to do with everything being off-centre because of wheere the sensor is located. People were complaining that it was too sensitive with Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess as well. However, there were those who were singing the praises of Metroid Prime 3 and TSA was also at E3. According to him, everyone basically sucks. He noticed people having difficulty playing, but it was a breeze for him. He also pointed out that in the Twilight Princess demo there was a locked door, and nobody could figure out how to open it. They tried blowing it up, attacking it, and almost everything under the sun. Then he walks up and tries it and succeeds. Apparently nobody thought of walking up to the door, or if they did they didn't notice how the A Button said "Open". @@ So, it's quite possible that the people who were playing, just plain suck. So, Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3 probably have some issues, but it's with Red Steel where the major ones are. Ubisfot has some work to do.
Super Mario Galaxy: I wanted a new Mario game, and I got it. I still can't figure out why Mario's in space, but whatever. Everything I've read about this game is raving. Several people commented that they had to be dragged away from the game. And best of all - no F.L.U.D.D. Yay~
Twilight Princess: The bow and arrow aiming is supposed to be that sensitive. Apparently, it was like this, and then they made it easier, and then they switched it again. O_o They want it to be realistic. But, this aiming issue will be a Wii thing, should work fine on the GCN. Anyway... looks like the graphics have been improved since the last time we saw it. Huge areas, which is good. We've also been told that the game is already bigger than OoT. I read somewhere that currently the dungeon count is at 25! :o Hopefully Miyamoto won't have to apologize for this game like he did for TWW (he actually did). Unlike MM and TWW, which were lacking due to time constraitns (which is also why they put the three-day cycle into MM), this game has had several delays already. So, it should be good. Miyamoto also said that TWW was designed to appeal to everyone, but TP is designed to the hardcore ZeldaFans. w00t I can't wait. SPOLIER: The level on display is called Goron Mines. TSA's been giving away lots of other TP info, but I won't mention it here.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: I loved Metroid Prime, but I didn't like Echoes too much. The environments were lacking. With Corruption the environments appear to be much bigger than the last two games. And I don't know if that's a good thing. I liked the cavernous feeling. I had worries that it would just look like Echoes (because the Prime 3 demo last year was just a modified version of Echoes), but it's not. It looks much better. Things are sharper, nicer textures, etc. So, looks like Wii will be graphically superior to the GCN, even if it not as much as the 360 or PS3 - it's still good.
Super Smash Bros. Brwal: I don't like the name, but meh. I don't know what was game play footage and what was video from that trailer. I have some pretty good guesses, but not too sure. It all seemed to flow pretty well anyway. The graphics look great. A more robust single player mode is promised, and I think online play too! Yay! I just hope Wario's attacks aren't all fart based. And I feel better about Snake being it. I had worries that Nintendo was selling out, so to speak, and that nay third party character could end up in the series. Apparently, Kojima (Metal Gear Solid creator) and Sakurai (Smash creator) are friends. During the development of Melee, Kojima asked if Snake could be a character. Unfortuanelty it was too late in the development to include him. So, as a favour, Sakurai put him in this time. Snake being in the game is from a friendship level, not a business level. However, this opens the door for other third party characters - but at a business level. It'll use the GCN controller, which I think is good, but at the same time, I think that's kind of weird. The GCN has a lot of controllers (the GCN controller, the WaveBird, DK Bongs, Dance Mat, Microphone, GameBoy Advance systems), but that was over the course of the system's life span. During these three days alone we've already seen the Wii Remote, the nunchuck attachment, the Classic Controller Shell, the Zapper Shell, promised functionality with the DS, and the GCN controller. Dude, that's a lot of controllers! And more are promised!
Super Paper Mario: I want this game. It's a side scroller with some 3D and RPG elements. Plus, it has Paper Mario graphics.
Yoshi's Island 2: Why can't Yoshi look good on the DS? In Yoshi Touch N' Go, he looked poofy or fuzzy or something, and this time he looks a lot better, but just a bit mishapen. They should've kept the original YI's graphics, maybe even used the YS's models. Anyway, Yoshi's Island is one of the greatest platformers ever. This has a lot to live up to. I am looking forward to it.
So, I mostly just wrote about the games I'm looking forward to (except Red Steel, I just threw that in). Lots of other DS and Wii games were shown. GCN and GBA games were listed, but not on display. @@ Apparently there are 70-something Wii games in development, and hopefully around 20 at launch. I would've liked a release date, better spec information, a price range, some more detail on the Virtual Console. But oh well. I still got game info, Zelda, Wii WiFi info, and new games and a new console to look forward to by the year's end. Overall, I think this was a good E3 for Nintendo. Much better than last year's. There's some small tweaks they need to do (especially you Ubisoft), but pretty good.
Huge lines, lots of positive feedback, almost everyone loves the controller, the games are fun, people are hyped about the Virtual Console. Everything's coming up Nintendo. Honestly, Sony showed nothing special at all, they were broing except fro Final Fantasy XIII and MGS4. And Microsoft once again is betting on Halo. Nintendo walked out a winner here. Really, they may not become number one again just yet. But they've restored lots of faith into people, and'll probably top in the generation after this upcoming one (the one Miyamoto said they would use HD with).
