As long as the core IPs are being continued and I get a new Pikmin and a new IP then I'm happy.

There are plenty that we're ticked off about. But...generally it wasn't stuff we were promised. Not that I don't want to see more from Nintendo, 'cause I do. I want to see lots more.

I think that back in the NES and SuperNES days, as much as it pains me to say it...it was the third parties that made the system. Aside from Nintendo's core franchises it was the Castlevanias, Final Fantasies, and Mega Men that carried the systems. Nintendo's games were always of high quality. But I think the amount of third party titles outweighed them. On the N64 it was incredible that almost every major game was a must have blockbuster. Unfortunately, Nintendo drove their third parties away. They did little to get them back during the GCN-era. And now Nintendo has something that developers love. The only negative aspect that I know of was not offering developers to integrate WFC into their games off the bat (I think they stopped that. Not sure). But...

What I think especially appeals to the third parties is that you can make a quick buck. And, as much as we'd like to think that developers strive to create a deep and artistic masterpiece of gaming epicness, they're there to make money off of us. If they can make a cheap movie tie in or port and just tack on some controllers and make money even if it doesn't sell well, then they will. I really wish they wouldn't. But, that won't stop them.

As far as Nintendo goes, we can't be too surprised. The hardcore base may not like all the "Touch Generations"-esque games, but they are selling. And for years now us Nintendo Fanboys have been touting that Nintendo will come back again. And...they have. We may not like how they have. But they have.

I so didn't want to start this at 2 am (or after 2 am). But I'm on a roll here with thoughts. XD

Does anyone know what that is? That is called "Nintendo Seal of Quality". Look on the back of any Nintendo game you own and you'll see this little marking (for you that's outside of North America, you should see something that looks like that. Might be a different color, might look a little different). This seal is on EVERYTHING Nintendo. Everything from the box of the Wii or DS, to Pokemon plushies in stores (or at ones form years ago when I got my plushies), as well as every game that ends up on a Nintendo system. Do you know why Nintendo has this seal? Because back in the NES day anyone could make an NES game and sell it if you knew how. There weren't any limits or anything on games and such. So Nintendo came up with the idea of the "Nintendo Seal of Quality". All games that had that emblem showed that Nintendo approved this game. Nintendo looked the games over and said "Ok, you're making it on my system". And that worked well, crappy games started dying out. But these days the seal is just there to be there. Just there to say "Nintendo has it's hand in this product" as in "We're making money off this thing". There is no more seal of quality, it's a seal of money. Nintendo needs to step back and bring back the real meaning of that one little sign. I don't own Wii Play, and I know it was just a pack in for the Wiimote, but really? Or Aquaman Battle for Atlantis? Pokemon Battle Revolution (say what you want, and I do like the online. But PBR was a step backwards and all of you know it. The online was nice, but the rest is crap)? And so on? I know we got games like Metroid, and Zelda, and SSBM. But how many hardcore gamers want to play "Carnival Games" for the Wii? And how many people will like it if they buy it?
With any console you got a hand full of games that you like out of the bunch. But that doesn't mean something like PBR should get a pass. I'd like to see the "Nintendo Seal of Quality" come back to what it really means. And not just sit there because it looks good.

Something new for D/P.

https://gonintendo.com/?p=24995
Yes? No? Maybe?

https://gonintendo.com/?p=24993
And now he puts in his 2 week notice (well, 3 months, but you get the idea). He will be missed.

But yeah, that's why nintendo changed this

To this

and established a new motif:
"The official seal is your assurance that this product is licensed or manufactured by Nintendo. Always look for this seal when buying video game systems, accessories, games, and related products."
Andy said:
But these days the seal is just there to be there. Just there to say "Nintendo has it's hand in this product" as in "We're making money off this thing".
Well, it actually is; Nintendo has it there there exactly for that. The Nintendo's Quality Seal is no more. The "quality" bit was removed as of '03 I think, so yeah, the seal has literally lost its original meaning... They're not guaranteeing quality anymore, so it's not betraying its meaning.

The fact is, Nintendo's a game company. Their only purpose is to make money. And out of all the game companies, they're probably the greediest. They saw that they weren't making money with the "core" audience, so they basically sold out to the casuals. They're pumping out worthless tripe with no effort put into it, and making millions of sales. Then add in some useless accessories (Zapper, Wii Wheel, etc.), and you've got instant $$$. Long, epic games cost too much to develop and take too much time to develop. Why waste your time on them when you can pump out a generic minigame collection, slap Mario or Link on it, and people will eat it up?

Now Nintendo's on top again, but to do it they had to all but abandon their loyal fanbase. Honestly, I can see five games that I'll get for the Wii that have been announced. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, SMG, SSBB, MK Wii, and ToS2. Other than that, I think the Wii is pretty much going to remain minigame tripe from here on out. Developers see it as a way to make a quick buck, Nintendo doesn't care about more "mature" or "hardcore" franchises (just look at what happened to Project HAMMER; and look at their E3 conference, for crap's sake), and they've even stated on multiple occasions that Zelda/Metroid and other "hardcore" games are the "old world of gaming" and games such as Brain Age and Wii Fit are the "new world of video games". Sorry Nintendo, but I'd much rather be playing an epic quest than solving math problems or standing on one leg.

As Nintendo fans, we really need to just realize that we're not the company's audience anymore. Our time is over. Personally, my Wii has pretty much been collecting dust for two months. SSBB and MK Wii (along with the very few decent "core" games that Nintendo and third parties throw at us every now and then) will have to last us for two or three years unless we go to the 360 or PS3 for our main console. The Wii is just a side act.

I wanted to give the Wii a chance, but unless Nintendo surprises me and steps up the "core" gamer titles, the online features, and the quality control, I'm going to have to go elsewhere to satisfy my gaming needs. Thankfully, there are still quite a few PS2 titles I need to catch up on, but after that, I'll probably wind up with a 360. Nintendo is in the money, and as long as the casuals keep dumping money into them, they're going to continue to pump out half-assed minigame collections and non-games and neglect their true fanbase.

The Nintendo of old is gone. The new Nintendo is something none of us ever would ever have expected or wanted to see.

I agree with a lot of Robo's points. Nintendo knows for a fact they make more money off of casual gamers then hardcore gamers.... or so they think. I mean sure casuals are making most of the Wii sells right now. And the Wii will likely win this gen on sells due to them. But go to GoNintendo, go to Wii Fanboy, go to Nintendo or Wii sites. When they say "Old people playing the Wii" or other non gamers playing the Wii what game are they playing? It's Wii Sports, the box in game for the Wii. Me, I'm a hardcore gamer. I own 8 Wii games, that is $400 worth of money just from me alone (how many of you have at least 5 games not counting Wii Sports?). On games alone (not counting the Wii, and not counting controllers and such) I've already spent more then most casual gamers just buying a Wii to see how Wii Sports play. And as time goes on (and if Nintendo names some good games) I'll be buying more Wii games. So here's the thing, Nintendo is saying "Screw you hardcore gamers. Hello casual gamers." but in the long run if anyone will save them it's going to be the hardcore gamers, the fans of Nintendo who was there years ago when the GC was there, the N64, SNES, and NES. Them are the people who will be keeping the Wii alive. Them were the people who let the GC live, and I just hope Nintendo sees it before the end is close.

And on another note...

https://gonintendo.com/?p=25212
NSider, the official forums of Nintendo.com has closed it's doors due to who knows what reason. Is it just another recap of what Robo said? Where he says Nintendo is going only after the casuals? Or is there some hidden reason behind it? Or is Nintendo lying and will make a new forum and not call it "NSider"? I guess time will tell. But for me, this doesn't effect me. I guess some of you did go there, and this doing of Nintnedo will likely piss you off.

https://gonintendo.com/?p=25259
For all of you Kingdom Hearts fans out there. I don't know about you, but just the thought of more then one Kingdom Hearts game coming out makes me want to squeal like a little school girl. Kingdom Hearts is my fav series so I got to post something here about it.

https://gonintendo.com/?p=25232
Some rumors about some KH games (you can see how much I like KH XD). Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories 2? Both me and Robo were like "WTF?..." and I'm sure you KH fans are like that as well.... Because if that rumor is true then KH:CoM2 is linking KH2 and KH3 (a game that isn't even confirmed? Because if you're thinking the end of KH2 and the end of KH2:FM+ then no. That's a prequel, that would be Kingdom Hearts 0 for the PSP)? I do hope EVERY one of these rumors are true. 3 KH games would make me soooo happy.

And I wanted to save this one for last.

Super Smash Bros Brawl will have online.
This is a great and perfect timing. Last night, Robo, Abby, David, and myself was talking about online gaming, and SSBB came up, and the question "Do you really think SSBB will have online?" came up. I said yes, and low and behold that very night Smash Bros DOJO updated with the online of SSBB. That little update proves that the faith I had in Nintendo in saying "SSBB will be online" wasn't misplaced. Nintendo gave the people online SSBS like they said they would. So I am very happy with that update.
And that's why I wanted to save this for last. For us that said "SSBB will be online" it's a nice confirmation (because we haven't heard anything since E3 06). And for the ones who said it won't be online, has this changed your mind?

Mm...I believe that back in the NES days the seal actually said "Seal of Quality". Now it just means its been licensed. And, while the seal was good for us gamers back in the old days, developers didn't like it.

They didn't like Nintendo reviewing their games. Changing things. Censoring things. Telling them to fix things.

Sony came along and these restrictions weren't there. Developers could make what they wanted (because of no restrictions from Sony or from the disc media), and so they jumped ship. This affected Nintendo greatly during the N64 and GCN era. And is why, right now we only have a Seal. Not a Seal of Quality, because it bugs the developers. Developers want to sell stuff and make money, when they had the option to do that over having these quality restrictions they took the option to make a quick buck.

So...I dunno if bringing back the seal would help. Would just scare more developers off.

That said, Nintendo still has a hurdle getting developers to make M rated games for their consoles.

And, I also thought there would be Wifi in Smash in some form, but...eh. I'm not thrilled about this. Like...the friend battle is okay. But the everyone battles are not. I mean they were better on Mario Kart DS for crying outloud. At least we saw screen names and kept scores with that game.

Exactly what Triffy said. I said all along that if Brawl had wifi, it would be barebones and half-assed. And I was right. Random battles with no ranking, no names, and no personal messages or anything? You might as well be playing against a CPU for what it's worth - pretty much the same difference.

Oops! Sorry guys I forgot I joined here, untill I saw it in my user
CP.^^' Yeah brawl has Wi-Fi it was in todays update ( Sept 18,
2007). So what new characters would you guys like to see or play
with on Brawl. Metaknight, PKMN Trainer, Ike, and Pit for me

Last night was one huge update(it was 100th after all.), so I feel like saying something about it.

My opinion about online, it is certainly better than nothing, sure it isn't "omg best online ever", but it sure isn't half-assed like most people complained about but few things kinda make me wonder, though.

1. Friends limit, why 64? Not that I get to use them all up, but why have limitation? I don't get it.

2. Nameless random battle? Safety? It's not like knowing their name will do anything good, what if you want to know the person you just played with? Let's hope you can request to add them after the match ends, or ELSE.

3. Why limit name length? You'll never know.

4. I just hope they will confirm more online stuff for Brawl.

5. Sandbag is confirmed for Brawl.

It is good that they put wi-fi in, although none of those things above concern me, I'm more concerned by this.

Sakurai said:
But because this form of communication is greatly affected by the distance between you and your opponent, your brawls may not run smoothly if you're really far apart—like, for instance, if you're connecting between Japan and America.

The more distant you are, the worse your connection becomes.

Yup.

That is all, now peace.

Disclaimer ~
My post might come off as rude to some people. But it's 3 am (right now at the start of this post) and I've been called a blind Nintendo-brainwashed fanatic (or other things along them lines) by a friend one too many times. And you know what? I'm sick of it. I got called (and I quote) a "blind Nintendo-brainwashed fanatic", do you know what the reason was? For saying SSBB will be online and won't be (and I quote) "Melee with prettier graphics and a couple different characters.". So you can see (and maybe understand) why I might be a little pissed (to top it all off, this someone is a member of the NFC). And I've got to vent somewhere, and since all of that is Nintendo and since this is the NFC I guess I'll do it here by talking about the update of SSBB being online.

Is Abby, Aussy, Jake, and myself the only people happy with SSBB's online? And how about a show of hands, who here has wanted an online SSB game since the launch of SSBM? See, I've wanted an online SSB game since before the launch of SSBM. I've always loved playing SSB with my friends on the N64, and I loved playing SSBM with friends. So I'm going to love it when SSBB comes out and I'll be able to battle them friends anytime I want. As well as battling online friends like Aussy (Dark Heaven), Abby (Once she gets Wi-Fi >0), Erica, David, others, and as well as you NFC members.
But here's the thing. I for the life of me can't understand why people are so pissed with SSBB being online. Yesterday this person said "The only way I'll get Brawl is if it's online" and strange enough SSBB is said to be online. And to my amazement this same person goes off crapping about the online ways of SSBB. I almost want to say "Don't buy the game, since you hate it so much.", but this person won't listen to me (he'll buy it anyway, even if ATM he hates it. I mean before he was really really pissed with Phantom Hourglass, saying he'd never buy that game, everytime "Phantom Hourglass" came up he'd lose it and go off in this pissy mood. Now there's a good chance he'll be getting it.). But still, I've got to hear the crapping about SSBB everytime something happens (good update, crap. Bad update, crap). And what's strange is, people like him are everywhere. I mean lets say last night's update was different, lets say the update was "Sorry, but SSBB won't have online". Now since the update is reverse I would think same goes for the reaction right? Well... no, because I'd have to hear "I was right. I told you Nintendo is being an ass and never ever going to give hardcore gamers what they want. We all wanted online, and even Nintendo said SSBB will have online. So they lied to us again. I have lost all faith in Nintendo.". So both ways, I have to hear it. And I find that funny. I mean if you hate a game so much don't you think it'd be best to not buy the game? I mean really? Wouldn't that be wasting money? I mean going back to the quote, "The only way I'll get Brawl is if it's online". And what was last night's update? OH RIGHT, online! Hm...

And going back to my point. Why is everyone so pissed with the online of SSBB? Because it doesn't have a rank list in random battles? Because you can't see their names? Because you can't have a taunt in random battles? What are you people buying SSBB for? To have a list of online features to say "Wow" over and do nothing else other then look at them all day? I'm sorry people, but Nintendo doesn't have the best online in the world. And God forbid that people would understand that. I'm not happy with the online ways of Nintendo. But I'm very glad to see that SSBB will be online. If you people want the best online I've got 3 words for you, "360, XBox Live". The 360 has the best online you can find anywhere. But does it have SSBB? Nah.
Lets have a small run down.
~ Random online names: Why the big deal with seeing random online names? Are you going to remember so and so name 3 weeks after you beat him/her? Are you going to write that name down and go "Wow, I had a great battle with that person, I wish we could battle again someday...."?
~ Random online messages: Jake said it real well so I'll just quote him. "Do you want people saying ""**** you and your ************" before disconnecting just because you almost beat them?"
~ Random online ranking: Does a few numbers of random people on a list really bug you that much?
All of them might be nice, but really. People are pissed and crapping at something like no ranking for random battles? Do you want SSBB just for the stats? Or do you want it to play? I don't know about any of you, but I want to play SSBB with my brother, and all of my friends (both online and offline). And what am I getting with SSBB? The chance to battle friends online. Am I happy with the update? Damn straight I am, I'm likely going to have the best online experience with SSBB then any other game out there on any other system. One IGN blogger said you're an idiot if you're happy with the SSBB online. I guess I'm an idiot, an idiot for finally being able to get my hands on an SSB game that's online. I'm an idiot for being able to be able to battle my friends. I'm an idiot for liking what was said in the SSBB update. And I'm an idiot for reading this on the online update "We're planning a number of services that make use of Wi-Fi, but we'll reveal them gradually with the other modes. Enjoy.". That's right people, I'm an idiot. I've never been more happy to be one. This idiot will see most of you online on SSBB December 4th or 5th (got to give me a few days to get the feel of SSBB, and to battle my friends first). Who knows what we'll have in store down the road, only time will tell. But for right now, I am so happy to see that SSBB has been confirmed to be online. No more guessing, no more "I'm starting to wonder if SSBB will be online", and no more waiting because we know for sure now that SSBB will be online.

That post deserves a reward...damn, such a long post.

Not much else need to be said, if you don't like online, you aren't forced to play it, nor are you forced to buy the game, so stop being negative nancy. People would still find a way to complain about it even if the game comes with money printer which is completely legal, why? Because the damn thing uses up too much battery, it dies faster than Wiimote!

Heck, I'd still be happy with the game even if it's just Melee with online, but that's another story, since that isn't what we're getting, we're getting a NEW game, with huge upgrade and crap, why are you still complaining about it?

Why do people complain about no rank lists in random online battle, when they said "that'd be like fighting level 9 CPU"? If they're the same, just play an offline match against level 9 CPU! Isn't that the same thing? You can get it recorded, and unlock stuff as well, they should just cut out random online mode and then you people will complain about "no random online battle", I can feel it as I'm typing this.

Nintendo may not have the best online in the world, but it certainly is better than nothing, is it not? As much as I loathe friend code system, at least I can still battle Andy and fair amount of people here.

Andy said everything I wanted to about the lack in random online mode...well, maybe I could add something a little more to that.

-No random online names: Assuming we have that feature in, think 5 letters will do anything? No, 5 letters won't do you any good, like you just battled someone named Ken, now, you want to battle him again, but how can you find him? I'd have a sex change for you people who complain if you can find the person you just battled, seriously.

-No random online messages: Again, assuming we have that feature in, what good will it do? Read Andy's post, he got it covered real good.

-No random online ranking: Assuming we have that feature in, and it's a global online rank list, let's see what will we get.

1. Someone who obviously hack- W: 999999 L: 0 D: 0
2. Some guy from the first person's backyard- W: 999999 L: 0 D: 0
3. This guy W: 999999 L: 0 D: 0
4. That guy W: 999999 L: 0 D: 0
5. Somebody nobody gives a damn about W: 999999 L: 0 D: 0
6-1000. Repeat the above in different fashion.

Global online ranking list will look like this, trust me, once AR comes out(and you can't deny it.).

Even if AR don't come out, top 100 list will be flooded with lifeless people nobody cares about anyway, so why do you want it? This is the question that the government must answer.

Last time I checked, we play video games for fun, sometimes as sport, but certainly not for stats, I have yet to see anyone become "god" just because they are ranked number one in some online list, and most of the people who worship them are either n00bs or suck-up people who want the title of "the friend of god", anyway.

Even if something in the update are lacking, I'm still happy with the update, why? They gave us what we've always asked for.

You people who keep complaining...he didn't even reveal ALL of the online features, and yet you guys still complain.

Think of Sakurai, what will he think when he tried to make you happy and then look at what kind of trash are you guys saying. (not that he checks our forums...just saying.)

Like I said, nobody is forcing you to buy the game if you don't like it, just stick with SSBM while Andy, I and few people who like it will be enjoying Brawl, that sounds like a good idea.

If you think what we're getting is SSBM: Champion Edition, Hyper Fighting, Super Turbo, etc. then don't get the game, enough said.

Well Wi-Fi is a good idea. I have no clue why people always complain
at the site of little things. It may be lagging a little but you can still enjoy your
match and get on with your regular everyday life, SSBB Wi-Fi isn't going to kill you.
Well thats the way I see it. Oh! does anyone else know about the advanced
techniques on SSBM considering all we know about the game.

X___x I was typing something and accidentally did some keystroke that made Firefox go back a page. So, I lost what I wrote. Let's try this again.

I'm looking forward to facing you and all my other online friends. I'm perfectly content with how the online friend matches are. Its multiplayer but...in different rooms. And we can probably have our laptops and have voice chats at the same time or something.

My knowledge of online gaming is limited. I'm only familar with what Nintendo has offered and therefore I don't have high expectations or wants.

I know Nintendo isn't the greatest at online gaming, and I'm quite happy with the friend mode - but, the mode for battling everyone else just isn't right. I was expecting anything advanced or beyond what Nintendo would do. No, I was only expecting what they had offered before. Mario Kart and Metroid Hunters keep stats and you can see aliases, so what gives? I can't understand why Nintendo would not at least offer the same online experience as their first online portable game on such a high profile console game.

That's my only beef. I'm happy with the other online mode and I don't mind the little d-pad notes. Wasn't expecting anything big, just what they offered before. And, I'm not turned off by the game, just confused.

A little late, but...
https://gonintendo.com/?p=25767
That has to be the best GoNintendo post ever. XD

https://gonintendo.com/?p=25629
Anyone want to buy me that?

https://gonintendo.com/?p=26291
IMO, that looks like it'd make a worse hole in the wall, and since WiiMotes can't be broken... but they're free. So if you got a Wii, and if you're able then pick up a few (you can get them at Wii.com or Nintendo.com).

https://gonintendo.com/?p=26271
And if you're getting Phantom Hourglass then be sure to register it on Nintendo.com. You'll get a free stylus sent to you. Maybe we'll have a pic of it soon.

https://www.gamespot.com/ds/adventure/thelegendofzeldads/review.html
And since I was on Phantom Hourglass, GameSpot gave a nice score. Nice... but they say it's better then games like LoZ:TP, MP3:C, SPM, and OoT for the VC (as well as others).

And did any of you see that Japan only games have made it to the NA VC list? If we do get Japan only games I wonder if other places like the UK will get games like Super Mario RPG (because if I remember right, it didn't make it over there). I wonder what other games will get that was Japan only.

I guess I'll join This FC and I would so buy that Zelda Stylus.
PS I know a site with lots of Consoles info but some of it is Illegal but can I post it?

Alot of the things you have said morkula even though it pains me to say are very true. Take the wii sports clip on accessory pack. Who would honestly want to use those things?

Yeah It pains me that most of that is true but I still gotta love Phoenix Wright. I mean really what is the point of the Jacket Accessory(at least it is free). Anyway some mini-games are really fun at times.

After being side tracked with PC being down and all that... lets see if we can get the NFC back up and running.

So, what did we miss?

Well, Okami has been confirmed for the Wii. It will be making it's way over on to the Wii. Not sure when, but we will see it one day (my guess, maybe early to mid 08).

How about the 360 outselling the Wii for the month of September. The Wii sold 501K consoles, and the 360 sold 527.8K. True, the Wii did get beat out, but I say by not much at all.

On the news of SSBB.
Sonic making it to SSBB as a 3rd party playable character. And the push back of Brawl to Feb of 08 (Reggie lied again). Oh, and Luigi is making it back into Brawl (watch this video and you'll see XD)... or at least maybe... XD
