Nicknaming themes!

I don't really use nicknames much, and they get kinda random. In AS, I named a Pelipper 'Nigel' after the pelican in Finding Nemo, though the bird was actually female. My Piplup was nicknamed Triton. Usually I'm better at coming up with the nicknames for the water type members of my team.

(Oh, and I have been calling Kyogre's Origin Pulse move 'Bow before the might of the Sea Lord!' or 'I am your Ocean God, puny mortals!.)

No offense to anyone, but I've seen some strange Pokemon nicknames that don't make sense. But here are mine.

ALPHA SAPPHIRE TEAM
Serenity-Gardevoir ( I also call HIM Ares.😀Get it?)
Twitch-Sableye
Titanic-Avalugg
Scepty-Sceptile
Luke-Lucario
Igneousnail- Magcargo
These are ALL male, even my Gardevoir. Yes, it's possible.

On my OR run, I've nicknamed most of my Pokémon after various music artists.

Blaziken - Chino (Moreno)
Aggron - Tony (Ionmi)
Mightyena - Hayley (Williams)
Gyarados - Mike (Patton)

and so forth. I'm probably going to do a run of AS (when I get it) nicknaming 'mons after Dark Souls characters.

eg. Luxray - Ornstein
Gallade - Artorias
Mienshao - Ciaran
Rayquaza - Seath (bitch ain't got no legs!)
you get the picture.

In OR-

Peony- Pikachu
Humphery- Wailmer

In my Gold Nuzlocke Run (which I have to finish at some point) I gave all my Pokemon human names like Jeff or Laura.

Hmmm, that's interesting. A few of my Pokemon on my ORAS team have actual names (Ty, Atticus, Charlotta) but they're named after things/derived from random things (Ty the Sceptile = reptile [yeah it's a stretch], Atticus the Swellow named after the character from To Kill a Mockingbird, and Charlotta the Walrein -> reign -> queen -> princess -> Princess Charlotte -> Charlotta [idk sometimes my mind does weird things]). I've never really liked naming my Pokemon random 'actual' names unless there's some sort of meaning behind it, and even then I'm still kind of eh about Ty for example.

I named pokemons that interested me. And the nicknames I give are in a wide variety. I can name a lucario Lawrence while I can can name a mawhile Shinichi or Natalia (depends on the gender of the pokemon). I even named a torchic Falcon in reference to Captain Falcon (and it's legendary punch). But I have a special nickname for male fennekins: Ricky. Also, I like giving names to eevees and make them evolve to fit that nickname.
