I'd probably classify it more like y=tan(X), there are larger ups and downs that way XP Let's hope that Nintendo never equals ((2X+1)pi)/2, though...we have no idea what would happen then o_o;

((2x + 1) pi )/2

Um...wouldn't that just be a diagonal line O_o?

As far as I can remember, the tangent of ((2x +1) pi )/2 radians has no solution when graphed, so nintendo would be an empty set x_x;

Thanks for that math lesson you two ^-^;;

I'd rather talk in laymen's terms though x.x;;

Ok...... I love Nintendo, and I am a former fanboy of it (I used to hate Playstation till I got a PS2 for Christmas) but now, I think Nintendo is going downhill. You know what? PS2 had more sales than the other system becuz it came out first, some of you say, right? If you say it that way, Xbox 360 is going to be the top system by using some of your terms. What sells now is sex and matureness, and what gamers what. If Nintendo does not follow the crowd....... Nintendo will end up like Sega. And I want Nintendo to stay in the buisness, I love Zelda, Metroid, etc. It's not that I want Nintendo to fall, but I'm just looking at the facts.....

What's too bad is that sex and gore shouldn't be selling =/ Games like GTA aren't arguably better than Gran Turismo. Our culture is so warped it's beyond disgusinting.

Personally, if Nintendo dies of not letting GTA on it's consoles, more power to them. I'm a fanboy, yet I'm proud of their moral values.

Yes, yes that is for whatever what the average demographic likes (I say for some reason, because I cannot see myself at that age enjoying those kinds of games or movies). But once that boat sails, who's going to buy games? Nintendo is smart in playing, if you'd call it this, the kiddie card. The average age of gamers now, grew up on Nintendo. And when their tastes matured they moved onto to be it Sony or Microsoft, etc. So, if Nintendo does that too. How are people going to get into gaming at all? There aren't as many women gamers, nor elderly gamers. If the gaming industry is more profitable than even Hollywood, then it should certainly be like Hollywood. Movies appeal to everyone, games do not. I applaud Nintendo for wanting to expand the market to make it more accessible.

Yep. Nintendo's slogan lately has been "We're about brining new gamers into gaming". Not literally of course, but they've already made it clear. Take Nintendogs, Electro Planketon, etc for examples.

And their new console is hopefully going to PWN all.

YES. EXACTLY.

Without Nintendo, gamers wouldn't have anywhere to start. The original gaming generation is only going to get older, as depicted in this cartoon I drew a while back:

Sex and Violence sell well, but it's not all that sells. Shigeru has enough pride in him to not degenrate his famous titles with that kind of stuff... Games like Metroid and Mario and Zelda and Pokemon and several others, have no Sex or Gory Violence at all, but they sell very well.

And like I said before, Sega fell because it simply didn't have enough money to keep up with itself. It had an awesome system, and one of the best game line ups ever, but that wasn't enough, it need money. Some people don't realize just how much money Nintendo makes. Nintendo makes almost as much as the ENTIRE Sony Corporation. And as far as money made with selling games and such, Nintendo is a huge lead.

Nintendo aint gonna pull another Sega.

Yeah, Nintendo may not sell as much, but, their profits are through the roof. I don't think they're goin' down anytime soon either.

The reason why Nintendo is making money off the GC, GBA and DS is because they don't add tons of add-ons like the X-Box and PS2. Everytime Microsoft or Sony sells a system (X-Box, PS2 and the PSP) they lose money. All of them have DVD players, MP3 players and so on. Nintendo doesn't have all them add-ons so their systems makes money.
But you have to remember, Nintendo only makes games and systems. Sony makes computers, TVs, sound systems and so on. Microsoft makes Windows (the software not windows on a house XD) and other stuff I can't think of right now. They got tons of money to help out on the lost of the systems. If Sony and Microsoft just made games like Nintendo then in a few years the only one left standing out of the three would be Nintendo. They wouldn't be making an XBox 360 or the PS3 if they didn't have some other money sorce.

*just got done breaking every window in his house with an "I hate Bill Gates" sledge hammer* Oh...heh.

Exactly...

You know that after the X-box prices dropped, Microsoft was losing over a hundred dollars for each console it sold. PS2 was losing a little less than a 100...and Nintendo? After Nintendo lowered the gamecube cost it was losing about $5-9 a system, which is worlds less than MS or Sony.

If that is so, why does the Revolution have all those add-ons like a DVD player, online, and so-on? They may make more than enough money now..... but in the next generation of games (beyond DS/middle of Revolution) they are going to be acting like Sony and Microsoft, depending on handheld systems with no add-ons,
or if they decide to add stuff to it and lose more money, they just could do another Sega. Now that I think about it..... doesn't a touch screen count as a add-on? And now, they are going to put wi-fi on it. Doesn't that count as a add-on? If you say it that way, the thing keeping it from collapsing is the GBA and GC.

EDIT: I accidently put two s on as XD I need to check my typing more often.

I think Microsoft was losing money on the X-Box even before the price drop (when it was 300 dollars or how ever much or costed).
Nintendo now is losing a few bucks on each GC sell (because they went down to 100 dollars for each system). But they make up for it with all the GBA and DS sells out there. Sony and Microsoft isn't gaining any money off their system sells. The PSP costs more to make then they are selling them for, the PS2 is the same way. Microsoft better think of something soon to get them making money off their system. I think the next gen systems will most likely turn out the same way. The Rev and the GBE will be making money for Nintendo. They are going to charge for downloading games but won't charge for playing online (third party game makers might charge for online play). That itself will sell more Revolutions because everyone wants to play online. And Nintendo said they will be making a new SSB game for the Revolution and it will be online (everyone I know wished that SSBM was online, so the next one on the Revolution will be. And you can bet a lot of people will buy the Rev just because of that).
The PS3, Sony will lose money on that on every sell. They are going to have Blu-Ray CDs, it's going to be nice and it will hold a lot. But it's going to cost to put them in every system. And they are not going to charge a ton of money for everything they stick in the PS3.
Microsoft's XBox 360 will lose a good bit of money on each sell. I'm not keeping up with the 360 because I'm not getting one (just the Revolution and PS3 for me). But if they keep up they way they are now with the X-Box then they are going to have the same turnout.

Ehh. I don't know about that. That sounds kinda like calling a Z-button an add-on. Having a touch screen is the entire point of the system.

You might be right about the Wi-Fi, but I wouldn't say Nintendo can really afford not to, what with it being such a crucial selling-point in the other consoles.

The entire point of the system is to play games, not touching a screen. It may be a crucial point in the system, but it is still an add-on.

Well, yeah, but you could just as easily call a computer monitor an add-on, as the purpose of a computer is to compute.

No. A computer needs somewhere to display the information.

An addon is something addition, not strictly needed. A touchscreen fits the bill.

Well, it very much depends on how you look at it, but getting needlessly technical on the subject is bringing us nowhere.
