I don't know if anyone heard about this but I saw this article that was given to me by a friend on another site. According to the article, Nintendogs are being blamed for a actual dog attack: Click for article

What do you guys think about this?

Wow, I feel sorry for her. But I'm sure not every dog has the same reaction. I guess Nintendo should make a notice about dog's reaction to the game though. I guess it was the games fault but no one actually thought that the barking in- game could have an effect on real dogs.

Solarowl: Thought the same way. I never played the game before so I wouldn't know how the game would act next to a real life dog or how the dog would react to it. Its kinda sad to hear about it though.

You know I actually played the game with my dog in the same room and the "Dog" on my DS barked and my dog just looked at me funny and didnt attack me! He just laid down next to me, and I continued to play the game! Until I got bored after 2 weeks and traded it! Cuz an actual dog is more fun!

~Now imagine a dog barking on TV instead. We could totally blame the TV studio and have to add a new TV rating that says "TV-DG": Warning: This show may contain barking dogs. Keep your ill tempered and retarded dogs away from the television.~

This was an accident, accidents happen. Nintendo could not have anticipated that this would happen. They should not have to put warning on, as then, by that logic, they would have to put a warning for everything.

I think the guardian is to blame, not the game.

With or without the game's involvement, why is the little girl in a room with a 130lb dog?

There is a thing called volume. It's a wonderful feature to the DS which enables people to TURN OFF loud barking that would probably irritate dog(s).

Plus, if they did things like make a warning for that, there's going to be potential disasters at every game.

And god forbid they make a Nintencats. Than cats will be next :O.

    ಠ_ಠ

Just because a dog is 130 lbs in weight, doesn't mean it's inherently vicious. Besides, the girl is 9. By that age a kid should typically know what not to do around a dog.

And the owners of the dog may not have known that their dog freaks out when it hears barking no matter where it's coming from, if there are no other dogs in the neighborhood.

This is quite literally, the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. This is akin to blaming my calculator because I failed my Math test.

The parents obviously didn't pay enough attention, and the dog must have had some other problem, because there is no feasible way it could get that spooked by a DS barking sound. There's more to the story than that. In fact, the other article I read was that the girl had been kicking the Dog, and that's what spurned the attack.

The problem here is that the parents are redirecting the blame off of themselves and attempting to make Nintendogs/Nintendo a Scape Goat.

exactly what i was thinking. it's probably only half the story of what already sounds dumb. Some people have a natural tendency of shifting the blame to whatever is around. And why should Nintendo be the ones to predict it anyway? Why can't they just work out it's not a good idea themselves?

I didn't say it would have to be inherently vicious. But the owners must have had some kind of gauge. Can't be a complete surprise how this particular dog has reacted.

I'm 21 and not playing Nintendogs by around a dog would not have occurred to me. And I'm pretty sure I've done it too. Dog just sorta stuck its tongue out.

So, not the game's fault. Certainly not the girl's fault. I can't blame a dog. So, owners/guardians.

Nah, the cat'll just turn it's head, and give a lazy "Are you mocking me?" kind of look.

    That's why I love cats.

But... yeah. I play Nintendogs. I'm constantly around a dog (It licked my ears last night... *Shudder*), and I attract other people's dogs because of it.

Heck, I stare my dog down frequently (I'm 5'11", and he's a Pomeranian), tell it to shut up, and even bark at it. (I also pet it and love it frequently. I'm not a bad person... really!)

To be honest, if they blame Nintendogs for this, they also need to put a warning on Chrono Trigger, because the game might incite Lavos to rouse from his slumber and destroy the Earth.
