Noticed something peculiar about the starters

Did anyone notice that all the starters types (Grass/Water/Fire + and Guess Electric because Pokemon yellow) were considered special until the physical special split? Because it just hit me.

when playing pokemon colosseum, it hit me that feraligatr actually kinda sucks because of said special/physical split u__u but yeah, all three types are special types which also makes things sorta awkward for venusaur/charizard who have dual special/physical typing (poison/flying are both physical pre-gen 4)

Yeah, several starters would be terrible (like Feraligatr was) without the P/S split. It was even worse for non-starters, especially the Water type had quite a few strong physical attackers, like Kingler, Gyarados and Crawdaunt, not being able to get a decent Stab because of their awful Sp. Attack.

Btw, want to hear something ironic? Ever since the P/S split was introduced, we have yet to see a Physical oriented Water starter, the only two are Feraligatr and Swampert, created before the split.
